Beautiful example! Just a little correction, this is a 5-cylinder, not 6 cylinder. This is a 2.9L version of the OM602, so pretty much an enlarged version of the engine from the 300D 2.5 Turbo W124, so normal maintenance items like filters should be easy to come by. Here in Europe the E290 Turbodiesel isn't much loved, as it has less power and uses more fuel than the E250 Turbo, with the multivalve OM605 5-cylinder 2.5 Turbodiesel, which produces 150 hp. But of course, the most sought after is the E300 Turbodiesel with the OM606. This one is just stunning, though!
I'd say that it actually uses less fuel than the OM605 Turbo. In the highway, mine does around 6L/100km @ 120kph. Incredibly economical and silent too. As far as I know, the E250 Turbo takes at least 1L more.
@@dinispaulino7512 according to the owners manual, it's even more economical than the 220D. But you're right that it's not much loved around here. I think it was overshadowed by the more modern OM605/606. I find it a very pleasant engine to drive though. Couldn't be happier. 470k km and purrs like new.
2:32 The sound of inline 5 is glorious. Thanks for the lovely video!

@@marcosavbg That's just what I've heard some people say. I've never owned neither of them.
