I'm still using win 8.1 for old laptop, the one thing in win 8.1 make me surprise is boot win so fast and not use so much resource although I use HDD hardwave.
usually older hardware runs best on the os that it’s shipped with
my pc has a hdd and it is so fast with win8.1, more faster than win7
@@_kzr sure. But windows 8.1 was really faster booting than any other windows, using it was just light experience
Also, of coarse people that are able to find proper drivers for their specific model and age are even happier in their experience.
Windows 8.1 indeed helped alot in user experience, even before installing specific drivers.
My laptop is about 9 years old. I am using Windows 10 2021. But only 7 GB of drive C is empty. Can you tell me a solution to make it better? Thankful

@@rie._eriiIf you upgrade from Windows 8 or 8.1 to Windows 10, you can downgrade to Windows 8.1 from settings, but after 10 days the option will be deleted.
8.1 was nice... I had the 7 on my first gaming pc, the 8 came out but I didn't upgrade because it was criticized too much.. And when 8.1 came out, I wanted to give it a try and was not disappointed, so the interface made more than one cry.. But change is always a pleasure I find so I got used to it and then I went to 10 in 2016 and the same was not disappointed xD

Im still using w 8.1 on my main computer which is a 2015 laptop which I upgraded with some RAM and a SSD and that shit is smooth, it boots in like 5 secs, have like 100 chrome tabs opened, 20 pdfs opened, using spotify, doing some minor video editing, doing presentations in power point, I have used more modern laptops at school with w 10 and they feel sluggish when doing multitasking work.
same with me except i have windows 7 lol. I have the macos dark theme's purple wallpaper and it looks so gorgeous with windows 7
I,m using windows 8.1 for every old PC that i got sold to Customers .
Reason: windows 8.1 is the last version of windows that is the last older version thats getting Support and Updates .

Actually you can't directly full upgrade from 7 to 8.1. If u want, 7 to 8 and then 8 to 8.1

It is a thing from developement versions of windows, all them also required a legit product key, the way there is no option to bypass this process
Idiot if you dont wanna or dont have a product key you can skip but you have to activate before the day of activation ends
For those who won't get it: Windows, since WinXP SP3, had an option to skip the product key page without inserting one, even if it results a 30 day trial or with limited features. Windows 8 and 8.1, instead of having a skip button, you have to insert a product key, no matter if you just want to try it and if it's worth it (except if you use a default product key of an edition of windows or creating an ei.cfg file)

Never used 8.1. I upgraded 7 straight up to 10 on my laptop. However, I used Windows 8 phone edition, and it's kinda of similar

I might do that soon in my Windows 8 (8.0) VM however not from the Setup.exe file, I'm doing that from booting the VM from the virtual CD/DVD drive and by selecting "Upgrade" option on the installer

Windows 8.1 has modern ui and it still supported. Windows 7 looks classic with aero ui and if you install it you must install a lot of drivers :(

should I switch from 11 to 8.1? ive been on that debate for a week now and im still not sure, some apps i use are only available on windows 10 and 11 but on the other hand i prefer the design, layout and sheer nostalgia it brings to the table for me.
8.1 is only going to be supported for a few more months just so you know

@@Aryphan First, you download windows 8.1 iso file then you create new partition in disk management and copy “sources” folder in windows 8.1 iso file to data partition( ex: D:, E:,...). After that, you hold shift key and click restart, click troubleshoot -> advance option -> command prompt. In command promt you type: D: (If you put the sources folder in D: ), cd sources, setup

Metro is more modern and more colorful. Aero is good but it is classic. Metro UI is the best UI for touch screen devices and it looks friendly and it is highly customizable
