Your honesty and bravery are encouraging and appreciated. If I could have your neck and arms after surgery, I'd be SO happy! My neck is one of the things I'm a little nervous about, but my arms already have bat wings from the fat, so they're only going to get worse. I would be thrilled to have your neck and arms. I'm not sure you realize just how well you've come out! Wishing you continued success and strength!

I do feel that I am lucky to have the amount of loose skin that I have - I did expect my arms to have more and my thighs have gotten better for sure! And most of it is easily camouflaged with clothing.

Thanks so much, Nicole, for keeping it real! My VSG was on July 3rd of this year, almost one month ago. I started at 223 and goal weight is 125. I’m down 30 lbs. including the pre-op time. I really like listening to your experiences. Did you ever “cheat” in the first few weeks? I can’t take the protein shakes! I’m so over them. I had prime rib for dinner last night. I could t eat much of it but it was so good!! I’ve eaten pasta but just a little bite or two. I love dumplings so I eat the meat and broth mostly. Anyway, I love seeing you more active. I’m looking forward to the day where I’ll go water skiing again or get on the giant roller coasters again. Thanks again for sharing your journey! Annette ❤

So happy to be on this journey with you! I don’t think I cheated those first few weeks - it’s hard to remember! I was really lucky that my program advanced me to soft foods after 2 weeks because thanksgiving was soon after my surgery. I probably would have cheated if I was still on purées. It’s hard to tell our brains no! And the protein shakes do get old.

Hello Nicole, congratulations on your success. Your before and after pictures are both beautiful. But, it is good and healthy that you are losing weight.
I have attended a weight loss seminar on July 13th, now i am just waiting to hear from them. Since that time i have gained 18 pounds, but i also now have edema in both of my lower legs and lower abdomen. And my right knee really hurts. At this moment in time i weigh 391 pounds and i am 5'3" tall. I really want to become healthy. I hope i get the surgery.

You need to go see a urologist. They are the specialists to take care of the stones

  • @qq1651

Congrats on your success! You have to remember that people mean well are trying to be positive and supportive when they tell you that you look great. They are not in the same head space as we are about our heavy selves whether past or present.
Im only 17 weeks post RNY and my team has already started referring me to my PCP. So disappointing and frustrating, so I know exactly how that feels. Does your insurance allow you to self refer to a specialist? If so, just make your own apt with those Drs,now, cuz ultimately that is what your PCP is going to do after you wait until Nov. and then you may have to wait several more months to get into the specialists.
The constipation is no joke, man! Im unable to go without taking 3 dulcolax pills and sometimes I have to add a suppository. Ive tried the fiber drinks, miralax and stool softeners, but they do nothing for me. Are you still eating mostly pot roast every day? My weightloss has been SLOW with 2-3 week stalls in between a one week 4=5 pound loss and then followed by another 2-3 weeks stall. I thought the weight would just fall off if I continued to do what Im supposed to, but it hasnt. Admittedly, Im not exercising either. My hair is falling out too. You might want to consider cutting your hair to shoulder length to make it look and feel thicker. The thinness of your hair wont be as noticeable if its shorter and when it starts growing back it wont look so weird having it thicker toward the top and so thin at the ends. 🥰

      @nicoleislosingit  10 месяцев назад +1

I think we are making some progress on the medical issues - my PCP is going to bat for me and making sure I'm being taken care of, which is awesome.
Haven't done pot roast in a couple of months - maybe when it cools down again I'll get back on the pot roast train! lol
You are right - I do need to get a cut. It was my shield for the longest time - it's hard to let it go.

@@nicoleislosingit Im same with the hair. Ive been hiding behind it for a couple of years now. Ive been preparing, mentally, for the chop that is going to need to happen and try to think of it as that I need a new doo to go with the new me! lol

Could you request to see a different primary care doctor in the meantime? That seems way too long to wait. That’s not acceptable. Advocate for yourself.

  • @whitneypay515

In defense of the bariatric office passing you off to the PCP is because the insurance won’t pay them for these services. It still sucks.

They passed away from old age. :( I got them as puppies around the same age, so I knew that if I was lucky to have them until they grew old, that they would probably go at around the same time. It was rough but we did have many happy years together.

Fortunately, I was able to get them to listen to me about the ulcer and I'm now being treated for it. And my wonderful PCP took on the kidney stone issue (which has since resolved). It's so important to advocate for yourself!!!
