I needed this 3 days ago but good thing i figure it out btw i put it on a wood door and it was hassle cutting out more wood to properly seat those bolts

With wood doors, most times you need to run a long drill bit through the factory hole because the factory can't seem to drill a straight hole or it's clogged with particle board debris.

@@drewinstallshardware During the pandemic when it was hard to get factory machined doors. Some of our suppliers would send me slabs and I would do the machining and finishing in my shop. (I'm also a carpenter/woodworker by trade) If you have or make the jigs and have the tools, the worst part is moving/handling the doors. We have a custom dolly that can hold a door vertical and then rotated and locked to horizontal. My shop neighbor is a machine shop and I had them make some of my jigs out of aluminum with their CNC. There's A LOT more money in fabrication/modification than there is in installations.

@@drewinstallshardware That would be great. We have been using the grey carts for ever and they are really hard to keep organized. I have been considering custom building some. A question I have is how you get your cart on and off the truck and up and down stairs when the elevators aren't yet working.

I hope I get to install it someday. I don’t think I have ever run across it. I do mostly commercial stuff and have done very few commercial pockets. 😎

I’m not sure I have. I have seen some that have bumps on the back that might be to shim but what have u seen? Sounds cool. 😎

Wow,what a following ? You have a special set of doors here, you should say these are not standard flush bolts.Auto and semi auto bolts are used fire rated openings to self close and latch, but would have an astragal .The bolts you have would need closers and a coordinator as the in-active leaf must close first. They both push open because the occupancy of the room requires both to be active when active door is opened.
That would make another interesting video.by the way,I used to take away any impact drill from my crew if I caught them installing ANY hardware (including hinges) as the screws are soft and strip easily.you seem to have it under control but do not advocate this to other installers as your viewers seem to want all your knowledge.
I am retired now but in the past have ran a hand picked crew installing all types of commercial frames and doors,as well as hardware.I have done many high rise offices, hospitals and hotels and motels and schools ,also warehouses, parking garages and military base buildings and hangers. Not just doors and frames but all specialties like toilet partitions and accessories, all dispensers and wall protection etc... the contractors build the buildings and we put everything in them.
I have watched a few other people's install vids but I like to watch yours as you remind me of my installation days.I always trained my crew to be on the same page on big jobs so all work is uniform.and I always made work challenging and worked along beside them even though I did not have to. Keep working and try to create as many "door guys" as possible as it is a dying craft.

Your job is way too easy when you have frames set correctly. In my area, the framing/drywall crews usually install them so we have gotten really good and making chicken salad out of something else. (they don't understand that laser doesn't give them square.
The hardest part for me when installing flush bolts is to remember to do it before we swing the doors.
I enjoy watching others. It's easy to get stuck in our ways so learning how other people do things is helpful, like the screw driver trick. I always screw the rod onto the body and fight to get everything into the door as one piece. Your way looks way less frustrating.
I don't know about you but we are getting some really bad machining on frames, wood and metal doors. The quality control seems to be getting worse lately.

Having frames set right makes a huge difference. I’m a big process guy so over the years I’ve honed my process down so I know what to check for each step of the way. And I really love the process. Thanks for checking out my videos! 😎

@@drewinstallshardware I'm 58 and have discovered modifying our process is never ending (we do mostly doors and specialties ) The little "tricks" we can learn from others can save time and frustration, therefore making a little more money. Thank you for sharing!
