Tune name: ERADICATION 8 7. 8 7. trochaic
This tune was criticized for a few part-writing risks, which I took to create the easy-to-learn, tiring-to-sing, harsh, bleak and pounding sound I wanted.
The lyrics were criticized for its harshness, so Donald provided extensive footnotes to each Scriptural reference.
All vocals by Michael E. Owens
I record tunes that anyone can sing.
Now that you know the tune, go ahead and sing it.

This hymn takes its pattern from Psalms 58, 69, 79, and especially 109. See • O God of My Praise - P... for details.
If I would not pray such things, of course I should not sing them. But if I do pray and sing imprecatory Psalms against God’s enemies 3000 years dead, why would I not pray and sing the same things against God’s enemies currently attacking Him and His people?
Of course, it is possible to go too far, and pray for things we shouldn’t. How do we know what IS too far? It’s when we are praying something which the Bible does not give us warrant to pray.
Donald obviously believes that Psalms 58 and 109, for example, give us warrant to pray “rend them, burn them“. Why? The Psalmist asks God to treat His enemies the way His enemies have treated others. Abortionists are rending and burning babies.
But, if you would not pray those things, why? Do they go further than the Scriptures do?
We are often told that people are not our enemies, they are slaves of the enemy. That is how New Testament-focused Christians have been taught to think, at least in recent western civilization.
But is it true? It is certainly not how God looks at people. Slaves of God’s enemies are also God’s enemies. We don’t get around the problem by reclassifying them. Rather, we must adopt God’s enemies as our enemies. And, we must adopt God‘s attitude towards His enemies.
And, odd though it seems to us, His attitude towards them is both hatred and compassion. He feels both, and He shows both, and we should too. And the Psalms show us how.
