Yager, along with all other video game companies need to take a page out of Fall Guys' playback, and just send cheaters to "Hacker Island" which will secretly send caught cheaters to servers with other cheaters
The good ol' shadowban. I loved Warzone's idea of letting the cheaters play the game but make them do no damage, or each time they care about to shoot make them look at the floor 🤣. Absolute trolling the cheaters
As a developer, I can say that there are many things developers can do from the server side to flag suspicious activity. For example, if a person's movement speed across the map exceeds what is built into a game, that should be a flag. If gun damage per shot is exceeded, if armor blocks more than it should and on and on. But this has to be written into the server and game code from the very start, which rarely happens. Also if the killed party's event physics don't match up to being killed, then that should be flagged, etc. The game physics should match up from both the killer and the killed reported game physics. But again, these have to be built in from the very start.
Definately a very formal interview and a serious deeper dive into video game cheater culture than expected. I appreciate the guy, coming forward about what goes on in this part of the gaming community.
Honestly I don’t think the guy was being entirely truthful, it was obvious he was holding back his actual thoughts on stuff and telling you what you wanted to hear. If he actually felt bad about cheating he would’ve stopped, he’s just trying not to look like an asshole and preserve his appearances. It was an interesting interview though I appreciate you doing it.
They aren't "hackers", thats giving them more credit than they deserve. All they did was use a credit card, purchase a program, double click the icon on their desktop that hooks into their kernel with the game loaded, and press a button to turn on the cheats while in game. They didn't code the program themselves, they have no idea how software is created, they just use it. They are called "cheaters". Nothing more, nothing less.
not every cheat hooks onto kernel, some anticheats cant even do that lmao, there are plenty of external cheats or ones that are rooted to usb loading instead. YOU are the one who doesnt know what they are talking about
exackly man. but what we need is a seperate OS for gaming.. we need to adress this and get ridd of it. no smal ass company gonna solve this problem with third software..
These videos provide a much needed service to the community. Running into two individual cheaters within a 1 hour play session of the Cycle who used voice chat to smack talk us was enough to deter my friend and I from playing this game. If two encounters of cheating stopped my friend and I from playing I can't imagine how many people have passed on this game because of similar experiences. Another reason was the hyper aggressive shift the player base has taken. People with good gear hunt new players relentlessly, even when they have no gear. They weren't doing that in the beginning.
We got sniped by a guy using a white smg from over 50 feet away, all head shots. We both died in less than half a second and the guy killed us both with one magazine. He was bragging about how he was going to take all our loot in voicechat. We don't have the patience or time to waste feeding children's egos by being cannon fodder for their ill-gotten enjoyment.
Slightly late response, but yes agree! I didn't play for the entirety of Season 2 of the Cycle because of the cheater problem in Season 1. I enjoyed the concept of The Cycle: Frontier and I really wish cheaters weren't a problem so I could play it. I were like "man I wish I wanted to play during season 2" but my experience from Season 1 was just killing my vibe. After a lot of good reviews from my friends who kept playing during Season 2, I've been playing a lot of Season 3. Yeah, there are still some cheaters, but it feels like it's reduced with at least 90% which is HUGE compared to cheater experience during Season 1.
They should implement a sort of Overwatch thing like in csgo where multiple people can watch a gameplay of a 'reported' cheater and when the majority of people vote yes they get banned. Also give the players arum rewards for doing so
this was a good an interesting video. Cheating is an epidemic and will never completely stop but yager only having three people to manually ban people is too much work strain for the three of them
@@kckc0 well since theres major things to be address all at once in diferent departments in the game I honestly feel that cheaters arent on the top of the list. Because with game breaking bugs or just bugs in general that most people experience more than facing cheaters is gonna push them away faster. So once the game is setup with major problems fixed then they can hard focus the cheating part. Since more people would be inclined to play it cuz of no major bugs and will be more inclined to put money in the game. Thus more money to work on the hacker situation.
It makes me upset. I’m very gifted with FPS games, having played them for over 18 years. Improving my skills at games like the Cycle and Tarkov is really disheartening when you find out how many people cheat, how easy it is, and how people also make money from it. It’s sickening.
Kudos to you for keeping calm. At some point I would have gotten personal, in my opinion cheaters are similar to criminal lowlifes. Also hearing that this game already has a big RMT scene is scary as fuck and honestly sad... who would buy a key card for 15 dollars? Seriously, who are these people? How absolutely sad must their life be.
@@Gashdal Where in my comment did I mention violent crimes? Someone selling or abusing drugs is a criminal as well. Someone stealing your speaker at the beach while you're in the water swimming is a criminal as well. How about people who graffiti public walls?... Yes, I would definitely put cheaters in a similar category.
@@Gashdal Cheating goes deeper than just "losing your gear" to a cheater. They stop game devs from doing what they actually want to do with a game, because they have to spend half their fucking time trying to get rid of cheaters. Cheaters also ruin the integrity of games most notably FPS games. So why would anyone get hurt from a cheater? Well people that invest time and feel it gets lost or stolen by someone they can't do anything about is gonna upset people. Whether that be your mobile phone you worked for, or the gear/loot you spend time getting. So all this "it's just a game" is honestly a pretty stupid fucking assertion.
Unfortunately, there will never be a fix for cheaters these people will cheat no matter what which sucks for us guys who either play for a living or for fun.
There are tons of possibilitys to stop them, Devs arent interested in it lets say it like it is. Radars can be detected, when they restrict certain programs that connect 2 Pc´s together or detect a virtual machine running. And internal hacks are also easy to get rid of, when they collect all of the Hardware Data of the gaming rig. Means if he gets banned, his entire hardware profile will be checked, and if it recognizes his setup again but with just a different SSD, INSTA Ban again problem solved. But wont happen, because alot of mimimimimi.Otherwise? yeah, deal with it :)
Tbh I had an idea how to deal with it. Cloud gameplay. Input: your controller, Outup: Post processed stream of graphic (video). So you cannot interfere with game because you do not have an access to anything. Ofc it wont be possible rn altrought I can imagine next "market" following "on premise" vs cloud service (subscriptions) direction that current top software companis offer [ofc it is a different level of service when they do not need to have live input and video streaming).
@@nosoundnosound this isn't even close to being possible due to latency. try playing a game on playstation now or whatever their cloud service is called, you'll see what i mean immediately.
@@Gashdal i know that right now it is not possible. But there are some companies like Geforce that have much more "technical" inflence than other companies. Company like that could actually succeed.
I am really interested by the way warzone is handling cheaters with their ricochet system. Obviously a much bigger game with much deeper pockets but they're combining banning with frustration measures. Jackfrags did a good video on it recently. Things like the hacker's gun disappearing, or having them do way less damage so if a cheater is shooting you, you know they're a cheater because you can sponge their damage. I hope going forward, this kind of thing becomes the standard. Hackers want to feel powerful, so by removing that power and leaving them in the game and matching them with each other, you can learn from them, analyse the cheats and hopefully learn more about them so they can be patched. Either way, good video, thanks for taking the time to talk to him.
If I remember correctly these are actually detected cheats only. For undetected it will not affect them. Basically, FPS game netcode is hardest to combat
@@Raecrisos true. At the moment only blatant cheaters are being caught, the more subtle cheats seem to slip through a lot. Just yesterday I was playing payload and ran into maybe 3 different cheaters that were using soft aimbot or walls. That being said the situation is definitely a crap ton better than before ricochet, so I assume ricochet prevents cheaters from being able to play if it finds any cheating software running. As opposed to “live nerfing” them or sending them to a controlled lobby (which I didn’t even think was a thing).
warzone cheats its own players changing hitboxes false hit marks ect. and has a white list for streamers. you have to fight the cheaters and the game cheating you.
great video. pretty disheartening to hear how easy and common it is. I will never understand how that could be fun. I'm trash but would never cheat. so it's just bewildering.
Yea same with my buddies and me. Like, how can it be fun if you get all endgame stuff within few rounds? What's the point to even get the endgame gear if you can beat anyone with white pistol? I really don't get it...
I think anti cheat is what we need bc a player shouldn’t have to use a 3rd party application to take videos of them playing just to get cheaters who will just come back on a new account banned
I'm just wondering how the anticheat doesn't detect 20k+ dmg in a single hit with a pick, I'm not a software developer or anything but I wouldn't think that would be that hard to pick up on would it? Closet cheating with just things like loot detection I understand would be a lot harder but there's no way it wouldn't be able to notice something like that.
I'm no expert on making cheats or anything but I do have experience with computer science, a good cheat might include a feature that disables the server from being able to see that 20k damage was dealt. This is kind of the reason the fight keeps going because its just back and forth between cheaters disabling the games ability to see the cheat and then the game devs making a new way to see the cheat.
@@noahdinwiddie5642 if the server is disabled to see damage, it means it is not going to register the hit at all. It’s just bad system design if such exploitation is possible.
There's a few pieces that are note-worthy to mention, among many others, here's what I feel are the top three: - Thank you for telling him to stop cheating. - Manual banning is effective, at least in his eyes. The more the community actively works to reach out to community managers & the dev team to expose, highlight, cheaters the more of them will be banned. Screenshots, video proof etc. - There's things the company could do to make it more of a pain to cheat. Thank you for the video man.
Developers like to ban in waves because they wait for more people using their sig-detected cheats, before the customers of the cheat will be aware of it being detected atm.
So I installed an ESP cheat in a game that had very narrow FOV limitation. I convinced myself I would only use the FOV hack, but despite not having a history of cheating I caught myself using wall hacks within a day or two. It’s just so tempting when these things are a click away, so I decided to delete the cheats entirely.
I really don’t understand how two factor authentication isn’t standard in games these days. Especially those which are free to play. Someone having to pay £60 for a new copy of a game if they’re caught is enough of a deterrent, but being able to make a new account immediately with no resistance and no extra cost is very dangerous. I understand that you can still cheat regardless, there are people who have farms set up with mobile numbers and emails till the sun goes down. But it would absolutely put a dent in the quantity.
i hate the way its up to the developers to solve cheaters, it shouldnt be like that they should be focusing on the game. I genuinely think it should be outright illegal to cheat in games especially if ive payed for a game.
@@Joshuah_Wellington if someone works 12 hour shifts in a warehouse and you’re ruining what little downtime they have by being a shithead, then yeah, I could care less if you get a hefty fine. Passing it off as “being salty” is an almightily stupid remark. Don’t be a disgusting rodent that cheats and ruins other people’s experience, then you won’t have to worry about what the consequences are.
I'm interested in what he said in the beginning. He says he's 17 and cheating in the cycle but shortly later says he started his cheating in black ops 1. If he's 17 in 2022 and BO1 came out in 2010.
as someone that has a .20 kd in the cycle i hate fighting someone with cheats and it just ruins the game for me. like i know im not great at the game but running into people calling out my name in game and just beaming me through smoke or across the map with a pdw is infuriating. i have no tolerance for cheaters in games.
"and do you find yourself cheating on most games you play now?" answer "yeah uh it's become sort of an addiction in a way because I can't play without cheats" BOOM you suck! You have lowered your standards soooo low that you're not happy unless you're winning. But you're not winning you are CHEATING! That makes you worse than any noob out there. Cheaters are no different than thiefs...imho. Cheaters ruin these games for everyone, which causes people to stop playing. That kills the makers of these good games. Thanks for coming out and telling your story tho.
"The Devs don't do much to fight the cheaters"... how would that teenager know that ? He admits that he only rents cheats to use and have no knowledge about coding.. basically he is what we call a "script kiddie". As an IT security engineer, I can tell you that fighting hackers in IT (just like cheaters in games, which is the same thing) is an endless task. Whenever we patch a vulnerability, they just explore things and find new ways to get in...so we patch that a bit later and they just find a new way...over and over. That endless fight cost tons of money. I'm pretty sure Yager do their best with the means the have and saying they don't do much isn't respectful for their work. The teen probably meant no disrespected but as an IT guy it's what we get daily from users and it's honestly heavy on our minds sometimes... About the ban waves, sometimes it's easier to just wait to have a massive amount of people to ban, because if you start banning people one by one.. they will report it to the cheat makers that will adapt the code shortly after that and then result in less people banned. The drawbacks are of course that in the meantime the cheaters will damage the game even more and some false positives can occur in the waves. I'm in discord server that sells bots for a pokemon like MMO (I don't use it since I don't play that game but I read it sometimes as the coding / IT part is interesting to me) and basically whenever a couple users start saying they got banned, everyone stops using the bots until the "maker" release a new version with new movement, etc. algorithms. There are hundreds of users and usually only a couple get banned each month because they get banned one by one and the code get adapted right away (usually in less than 24h). Also, saying that a company like BSG profits of cheating because hackers just keep buying accounts isn't a good analysis as it's way too simple (good think that Tickle then asked what about Cycle since it's F2P.. because then Yager can only lose here.. props on that question and reaction time!). To me, there are other things to consider. Like whenever games are infested with hackers, you'll see posts about it on social medias (facebook, reddit, twitter, etc.), videos on youtube, streams on twitch, etc. Basically there will be huge damages to the game / studio's reputation and that will just scare many people away from buying the game. Who would want to pay 50$ (or more) for a game where they know from the start they'll be smashed by cheaters constantly ? (just like you wouldn't go to a restaurant if you saw many reviews about it saying the food is terrible). Also, it's quite easy to find "illegal' EFT accounts for less than 15$ and I'm pretty sure cheaters using stolen accounts doesn't profit BSG. So yeah, that analysis is way too simple to be valid to me.. especially without actual numbers (that we will never have, how can you tell how many people didn't buy the game because of the cheating issues VS how many cheaters legally bought the game and made BSG some cash.. I think we can't). The interview is interesting and I guess having the point of view of a cheat maker and also a dev (or representative of Yager) on top of that would be nice as we would have every side's POV.
it is a hard game but thats what makes the satisfaction so great when you finally make it! heart pounding. half a clip of ammo left clutching your backpack full of loot like its a god rofl
Every f2p game has to tackle that problem - as a fps it even more severe. The DEVs should know this. The fact there is no reasonable process is in place is negligence. Nothing more.
I like that dude seems to just feel he needs to cheat. I always imagined most cheaters as trolls who love screwing up other players days. Still sucks but it is kind of refreshing to hear.
The Anti-Cheat needs a lot of work done, idk what they didnt expect any to invest in a good anti cheat. Personally they need to make one that detects irregular increase of fire rate of guns, detects irregular damage increase on melee, detects the irregular bullet trails and even flying, flying is so easy to detect if a player is in the air. This will Kill this game and if they dont do anything it'll be such a big let down.
Do you know anything about game hacking? It's not as easy as just checking if a guy is flying. How do you check that? I know that flying in many games is done by tricking the game into believing that you're on the ground. But yes irregular damage increase or fire rate wouldn't be as hard. And they should red flag more players. Come on 20k damage is never legit, either red flag those or even ban them straight away.
I’ve been a gaming enthusiast for many, many years and the cheating phenomenon is really getting out of control. I personally witnessed the struggle of players and developers trying to fight this unstoppable plague. At this point day after day I’m more convinced that cheating, either distribution or usage, should be considered an illegal act that causes tremendous losses to game companies. Anyone from the dev that cooked the cheat client to the final user is responsible and should pay for the damage that he is causing to the game, to the community and to the game company.
Yes, the same way some game companies should be considered doing illegal things as well sometimes. But video games are still quite young and it will need time to have laws for all that kind of stuff...
They have gotten extreme progress with stopping cheaters recently, I would advise people try the game at this time. Dedicated 5 man team solely for stopping cheaters, better then most triple A games
Playing Apex, cod or whatever with cheaters is annoying but you can hop in the next match. Cheating in tarkov is bs. For sure small dick energy. Where everything is so vital in tarkov
I don't wanna get personal but 17 years old is exactly what I expected. Old enough to know his tech and get the cheat working (12yo can't do that) and young enough to not be mature and not realizing he is ruining it for all. I think if a kid has a healthy relationship with winning and losing best case through sports, they know sportsmanship etc and are used to winning AND losing. Like he just said himself, he is not that good at gaming, but with cheats he gets the feeling of winning and enjoys it. Deep down tho he knows he still isn't good. He should get himself something where he can actually win through his skill. That would also be more satisfying for him. Again, I don't wanna make it personal over him, I thank him for being open and honest. All the other cheaters would never do an interview.
What about 2 factor authentication with a valid cellphone number (sent with IMEI), so devs could check, if the numbers/imei already got registered on banned accounts before or if it is a virtual simcard or phone. For example if it is a esim card, the number is not valid. Furthermore if the sim is routed and from where. So this should be harder for cheaters to fake real phones/simcards isn't? It would be cool, if yager could work together with international carriers.
Cheating should be legally punished with some 4 to 5 digit money punishements. Because it still is against TOS from the Company. See it like copying DVDs there is Jailtime on that so why not punish cheaters whatever kind it might be.
If piracy is illegal, why shouldn't cheating be considered illegal? It truly can be detrimental to any game, especially one as new as the Cycle while it's trying to make a name for itself. I mean, shit, just get EA involved lol. They're so concerned with microtransactions and margins, you would think they would be willing to fund litigation that makes the argument for stopping the hemorrhage of lost profit. This applies even more with regard to RMTs, not just losing out on player base. Edit: Thanks again for the thorough videos, this is an important topic that will affect future game development across the board.
Yaeger might give you back your partnership to hide these videos. I never really get why people cheat but it’s interesting to hear why it’s done. Great video man!
@@TickleMePinkGaming bro your community engagement is insane props. Quickly becoming my favorite RUclips not just because of this game. So tired of the tried and true "make sure to like and sub" and your take is an orgasmic delight of difference. Glad to see there are still edgelord with taste out there
So what I got from this video: 1. Disable overlays 2. 2 Factor Authentication 3. Copy Valorants anticheat (is this possible?) I really want to play this game like day 1 where I wasn't scared to bring in my best gear. Now I find myself only running with white armor and trench gun so it doesnt matter when I get pickaxed for 1,709 damage.
I have great idea in actually reduce cheating in gaming community by a lot and punishing. It may not sounds practical but this required many developer to actually participate in building such community
The fact that a good portion of budget goes to counteracting cheaters makes me feel that there should be laws that protect the creator’s property, since they’re spending a crap ton of money just to prevent a couple bad apples affect the rest of the player base. Prolly gunna watch more mindset of cheater vids now
Getting rid of cheaters means making it too expensive to keep doing. This means two factor authentication and up-front box prices. The Cycle will likely be killed off by cheaters because it’s free. Getting caught and banned does little to nothing.
I really hope the battle pass release can bring this game some money. I love playing it and would hate to see it go under, I will definitely be purchasing it to show my support!
Just got killed by a a hacker today. He lazered me with a flechete then proceeded to run down my teammates while calling there names out saying he was cheating and going to kill them no matter what
I commend you for your professionalism I would of lost my shit so annoying hearing him be OK with being a problem to such a refreshing high risk survival game. I was wondering if they could do something like warzone where as if the person does a insane amount of damage or anything that rises a flag all other players can't take damage from them and they can't loot lmk what u think. I'm a new player hoping this game and company can make it past this.
I do not support cheaters that go around and use aimbot, ESP or any type of advantage to destroy other legit players progress But i admit i loved when some random guy appeared out of nowhere in GTA V to give me some random modded car or a money drop It's a different experience I totally understand why some people feel like cheating, but also why some feel like it destroys games (which is true)...
as a kid i rly had fun using cheats in games, but nowadays when i cheat in a singleplayer game the fun is gone instandly. For me its a pure waste of time playing a game where you can cheatcode everything.
4:20 "Generally, it's because I'm not that good at gaming-- I'm gonna admit it. And I always wanted to be better than other people, so I was like, 'Y'know, if I can't improve, or maybe I can improve, but I don't want to, why don't I just start cheating?'" This literally explains his psyche, and it's pretty nuts. He has total disregard for other people's enjoyment, and for an "equal playing field." Cheater, the reason why you improve is so that you can prove to yourself what your skills, talents, and worth are. No, video games do not define who you are in life, but the principles of actively improving without cheating are. These principles obviously apply to everything in life. Have I used CheatEngine before? YES, but for SINGLE PLAYER games only. It's okay to have these cheats, as long as their impact is exclusive to YOUR gaming experience.
I'd be curious to see a study that test whether cheating is more common if a game is hard to pick up versus soemthing that is easy to pick up? Also cheating is for sure more incentivized in games where time spent = value. Aka MMOs, or games with RPG elements that are hard, etc. Or worse yet...NFTs in games now
I think that there are grounds for making cheating illegal in these live service games. It's illegal to do so when gambling in Vegas, for instance. It's fraud, it damages the company that made the game, and it damages their customers. However, that would be really tough to enforce and litigate, at least here in the states, I would guess.
Hard to listen to the cheater talk, especially when he was saying he isn't "directly" destroying the game, a complete lack of self-awareness. It's like hearing an interview with a meth dealer saying "drugs are bad kids!" so fake. Nothing but respect for smaller game developers dealing with this filth.
IMO battling with cheats is not about a single method but a wide range of actions and counter measures. Having people manually banning cheaters are a must, a good anti-cheat software is a must, but these are not enough to stop cheaters, companies may really need to take legal actions against ppl who make these cheats etc
while yes that would help a lot. in a game like the cycle you can't out right do that. if you are going to do that you would have to make it where you can't spectate until your whole squad is dead. I wouldn't even doubt it if the cheats could by pass the spectating system
Fascinating. The concept of cheating is as old as, well clay dominos is Mesopotamia at the dawn of time. But there seems to have been a cultural shift in the concept of what makes something fun. Cheating for financial gain of course make sense as well. But I am not really all that naturally great at games (as opposed to my brother) though I started on an original Atari at my grandparent's house and a Windows 3.1 x286 with Sim City longer ago than I care to count. But fun only exists for me when I get better at something by cultivating my skill. Often times, this results in NOT getting better and then I maybe get angry or acknowledge defeat (there's not much I'm not good at so this is a rare occurrence but it DEFINITELY happens a lot in games for some reason lol). It's like driving my STI fast on the highway...if there wasn't an element of danger then that wouldn't be 'fun' either. Capt Kirk described this concept quite well in Star Trek: Generations telling Capt Picard about jumping his horse over a small canyon. It's how he knew the existence wasn't real. "I've jumped that gap a thousand times and every time it scared the hell out of me...except this time - it didn't scare me at all." I think there is a segment of the population (possibly younger but also the older millennials like myself) who are crushed and retreat when facing their own failure or vulnerability, instead of becoming motivated by it. The fear of failure is what defines the glory and satisfaction of victory. It is context. But that seems to be missing in the mindset of those who cheat for fun. Thoughts? This is why I spawn into the Cycle over and over again...
I dont understand how cheating isnt prosecutable. They are taking money from the devolopers via lost revenue from people quitting. Seems very low risk high reward to use and create cheats, doesnt make sense to me.
if EFT's "solutions" are your role model then this game is gone in a year or 2 anyway. Battle cheaters by actually using game structure that can be used to monitor player actions, EFT is completely clientside and serverside does not valiadate anything the client returns. Thus meaning people can fly, aimbot, no clip etc without being detected. EFT devs just slap bandaids on their game. Will Cycle remake their game to facilitate that? Ofc not, but that should have been on their minds at the very start.
This is true, hard to make an anti-cheat when your game doesn't have a structure for it. If Battleeye and EAC are easy to pass in other games then they will be easily passed in this one too and that will be that. Best approach would be making a game from ground up that specificaly facilitates an original system for an anti-cheat like battlefield games do.
As a large scale cloud systems designer it blows my mind why they try so hard to combat cheating on the client side but focus so little on the server side. Lock down the server side code to detect if some one is moving faster than normal, gun fire rate outside of parameters, range too far etc. That would allow for insta suspension pending investigation. Secondly implement at least a basic VPN detection and flag single IPs with multiple accounts as a red flag to investigate. Companies spend so much time/money developing data tracking for vanity stats like total damage to players, etc but fail to then extend that data to a proper cheat detection system. Build this basic functionally into your engine... You will never stop the diehard cheaters but the objective is to make it annoying enough to cheat that the fun is gone to stop the 90%
Its very interesting meeting these people, as a gamer. I work in retail at an electronics store, and often handle processing repairs at the counter. So one day I get called to the counter for a repair, and its this weird little box that id never seen before, and didn't even know that we sold. Cant remember what it was called (and even if I did I wouldn't be sharing the information). Anyways, the customer complained of it disconnecting randomly from his controller, and I professed that I honestly knew nothing about this particular item, and he explained its purpose. Basically it was some sort of strike pack or a variant of, that allows console players to pull out some whacky stuff, usually used in shooter games. He claimed that it could do stuff like totally eliminate recoil, set macros, fire guns faster, shit like that. And I had to take it off of him and replace it with a brand new one, with my usual customer service smile, which I wasn't too happy about. He was absolutely shameless about it, it almost felt like he was bragging about it while he was explaining the features.
So I really love single player games that give you access to console commands for example Subnautica and Conan Exiles. Although I love it because it adds more to a game you’ve already completed I’ve learned the hard way that it’s one of the best ways to ruin a game experience for yourself. That’s why I like to save it for end game shenanigans nowadays.
I have a solution. Hardware bans. Instead of only banning the account some games use hardware bans. It reads all of the specs of your pc and bans the serial number on every piece of your pc.
Your solution is not good, hackers can use software to manipulate their own computer's data. TF2 has a cheater problem too and this is one of the ideas thrown around, people not realising how easy it is to mask these
Out of anger I uninstalled the cycle today, too many materials needed for good gear, and you just lose it to a hacker that won’t even pick it up. I lost 5 purple sets and 20+ blue sets, I’m over this game.
This was such a great interview Pink. Youre on a roll man with banger videos and live streams. Keep it up man. And btw YAGER GET THIS MAN BACK ON THE BANK ROLL!
I currently play The Cycle and there still seems to be cheating. I mean when I get killed by another prospector I never see them. They seem to kill me from behind every time.
General rule of thumb: aimbot esp need manual ban, game changing behavior are automatically banned. The latter is easily achieved if the latter is not being banned effectively then the anti cheat sucks balls. The other need a machine learning algorithm, I suggest yager to go talk to valve and valorant for a partnership in anti cheat, if they don't have the man power for a solution. Off the shelf stuff like battle eye and EAC are so old. In terms of game mechanic, less hardcore. Have 1 special toggle in Aurum insurance that you would always be guaranteed to have a return of backpack, armour or weapons. Noobs won't feel like the game is so punishing and good players are still happy on the other end, you can charge to unlock this slot. This is win win. Yager gets more money players progress. Don't scream pay to win if you don't want to deal with cheaters in a free to play shooter game, period. We are not even in the territory of superior weaponry for the whales. Give everyone a wall hack by mechanic, they have the mineral scanner, why not make a hand held movement sensor. Everyone gets more fun this way. It also mitigate the chance of running into a three man as a solo. Or just the binocular have a heat sensing mode. There are so many ways yager can make the noob player experience more enjoyable and less punishing. You can charge for cleaner sorted stash tabs. You can charge 20 dollar to have a guild private space the players can decorate. I can think of so many thing yager can push so social aspect of the game, I actually think yager should make the game more easy on the trading, guild members can trade without being taxed, trading with strangers require a tax.
actually this is a good point, in the original game you could place down a probe that would light up if other players were close to you which was an interesting mechanic (shows up on minimap)
Some people might like to farm wood cutter and white material all day because it's safe and low cost, let them do that and trade their wood more easily to players who have higher risk tolerance to go balls to the walls.
The game's quest is fucked earlier game, the job system need to deviate from quest line a lot, right now science campus can simultaneously have 2 quest and 1 job active, make it a super hot spot for PvP but it's a loot location with not much in value, Lagoon next to it is on par. By doing these highly contested quest area you are putting yourself at a disadvantage and run the risk of dieing to PvP.
Please no movement sensor in this game I like planetside's recon darts and how the infiltrator can softcounter enemy infils I was tempted to suggest a similar item in this game many times but realising how potent would be for competent players when i had so many narrow escapes that would have been impossible if they had a scanner thing. Now if you suggest this in the context of cheaters, a no would not suffice anymore So there you go: FUCK NO WHAT ARE YOU ON MOFO
Interesting talk and I’m surprised yo see a self aware cheater. I thought most of them would be delusional. Also the overlay part makes sense y destiny 2 disabled overlays. The ending was a cherry on top Pink well done.
He said he still has fun on a competitive FPS game.... while using cheats.... if that's not delusional I don't know what is. The fun part is beating a player at the game using nothing but your own personal skill, losing is part of the fun kids, don't forget that.
In my eyes it's kinda worse to be a self aware cheater. He knows the consequences of his cheating and still continues. I have 0 ounce of mercy or respect for such individuals.
I've seen these types of cheaters on Admin Rust videos. It's weird because these types of cheaters mostly just use ESP to avoid players collect loot. It seems to me there's a definite difference in psychology between the sneaky looting cheater vs the blatant power tripping cheater.
@@Deuce7Off Ah yes, the classic pathetic beta cuck cheater archetype, they can't win a fight without cheats and use their lack of skill to justify ruining the game. He may not be blatant, but he said his cheat includes aimbot, so I'm sure he uses it when he can't avoid people with ESP. He's so down he probably talks shit when he aimbots people too, with his voice trembling from the adrenaline, something he's not used to because he constantly avoids every fight.
you dont need to cheat to farm anything in the game. he mentioned he used the cheat most of the time for farming rather than killing. Having ESP/Wallhack turned on give you the exact location of others, and that makes farming much more convenient. So farming are bound to be more efficient because it got rid of the sense of not knowing where everyone is.
you would be surprised. When games make it so you have to grind for gear (especially gear that can be lost) then there are plenty of people with disposable income but not a lot of spare time. This is how pay-to-skip has emerged in games. The people who sell these knows these people have plenty of disposable income and basically increase the price accordingly because anyone who would care if it is $1 or $10 probably won't buy it and just go get it themselves.
As someone who has seen the cost of people buying ships in eve online, land plots in Entropia that have sold for more than an actual house, and account boosting for ranked games such as CSGO, LOL, and SC2. (also just how much people pay for CSGO knives) $20 for the best loot room in the game almost feels like a steal compared to the other price points.
wish they took applications for people to "moderate" the game, give the tools to players who've been playing forever to use the ban hammer. Less incentive for rmt who sell acounts or items if they're been wacked left and right.
If u esp to avoid been killed it will be an increase of progress in the game. but i for myself got the most kick because i dont know whats around the corner. hacks gonna turn it boring at some point
BTW In S. Korea cheating is punished by law. Maybe its worth looking into that. Every Cheater is damaging the trademark and the product. There is financial damage.
@@TickleMePinkGaming Violation of the amended law also comes with a hefty penalty; those found guilty could face up to 5 years in jail or roughly $43,000 in fines.
Hacking in video games is also illegal in China, but not exactly punishable, even for big streamers that do it on Douyu for example. It's the same in Korea.
Yager, along with all other video game companies need to take a page out of Fall Guys' playback, and just send cheaters to "Hacker Island" which will secretly send caught cheaters to servers with other cheaters

@@skrrskrrrr99 anyone who says that is lying
As a developer, I can say that there are many things developers can do from the server side to flag suspicious activity. For example, if a person's movement speed across the map exceeds what is built into a game, that should be a flag. If gun damage per shot is exceeded, if armor blocks more than it should and on and on. But this has to be written into the server and game code from the very start, which rarely happens. Also if the killed party's event physics don't match up to being killed, then that should be flagged, etc. The game physics should match up from both the killer and the killed reported game physics. But again, these have to be built in from the very start.
thanks for the educated write up man I appreciate that!

Definately a very formal interview and a serious deeper dive into video game cheater culture than expected. I appreciate the guy, coming forward about what goes on in this part of the gaming community.
I dont know if tit was that formal, but i tried to keep it real
Honestly I don’t think the guy was being entirely truthful, it was obvious he was holding back his actual thoughts on stuff and telling you what you wanted to hear. If he actually felt bad about cheating he would’ve stopped, he’s just trying not to look like an asshole and preserve his appearances.
Also, this 'cheater' has no effing idea what he's talking about when it comes to anticheats. No inner working knowledge at all.
I agree 100% I just call them hackers for shock
yeah okay acting like you are a good dev link github? you are a skid yourself
not every cheat hooks onto kernel, some anticheats cant even do that lmao, there are plenty of external cheats or ones that are rooted to usb loading instead. YOU are the one who doesnt know what they are talking about
exackly man. but what we need is a seperate OS for gaming.. we need to adress this and get ridd of it. no smal ass company gonna solve this problem with third software..
Nice job with the interview. Good questions. Funny that he basically admitted a good portion of cheaters are basically people that suck at videogames.

Was it ever a secret? Even they must know
These videos provide a much needed service to the community.
@@yaboiStarLord good to know. Thanks for the follow-up
They should implement a sort of Overwatch thing like in csgo where multiple people can watch a gameplay of a 'reported' cheater and when the majority of people vote yes they get banned. Also give the players arum rewards for doing so
this was a good an interesting video. Cheating is an epidemic and will never completely stop but yager only having three people to manually ban people is too much work strain for the three of them
They definitely took on more than they can handle and/or afford. Seems like they somehow lost progress since cb2 so idk what the heck they’re doing.
@@kckc0 volume and people getting more sophisticated cheats most likely
We need more pressure on cheating, id personally be ok with real world punishments
@@TickleMePinkGaming I wouldn’t be against that either
Ban waves aren’t always used like that. They’re MAINLY used to use prevent developers for cheats to find out what part of the cheat was detected.
Much like sting operations when they assault multiple locations
Don't expect a cheater to have a good grasp on those details
Kudos to you for keeping calm. At some point I would have gotten personal, in my opinion cheaters are similar to criminal lowlifes. Also hearing that this game already has a big RMT scene is scary as fuck and honestly sad... who would buy a key card for 15 dollars? Seriously, who are these people? How absolutely sad must their life be.
Yeha man I tried to keep it professional
if people cheating affects you in the same way someone doing a violent crime to you does, maybe your life isn't going so good either.
its really not that deep

Either way, good video, thanks for taking the time to talk to him.
i havent heard of this until now! im going to go watch that video thanks for letting me know!

Game has BE anti cheat but yea
I'm just wondering how the anticheat doesn't detect 20k+ dmg in a single hit with a pick, I'm not a software developer or anything but I wouldn't think that would be that hard to pick up on would it? Closet cheating with just things like loot detection I understand would be a lot harder but there's no way it wouldn't be able to notice something like that.
I'm no expert on making cheats or anything but I do have experience with computer science, a good cheat might include a feature that disables the server from being able to see that 20k damage was dealt. This is kind of the reason the fight keeps going because its just back and forth between cheaters disabling the games ability to see the cheat and then the game devs making a new way to see the cheat.
exactly, that should be an immediate red flag

There's a few pieces that are note-worthy to mention, among many others, here's what I feel are the top three:
- Thank you for telling him to stop cheating.

Props to this man for having the courage and strength to come in front of thousands and give insight inside the mind of a man with a micro pen*s.
I haven’t played Tarkov because it looks too hard for me. I didn’t go looking for cheats so I could play it.
it is a hard game but thats what makes the satisfaction so great when you finally make it! heart pounding. half a clip of ammo left clutching your backpack full of loot like its a god rofl
Every f2p game has to tackle that problem - as a fps it even more severe. The DEVs should know this. The fact there is no reasonable process is in place is negligence. Nothing more.

This will Kill this game and if they dont do anything it'll be such a big let down.

@@VictorEdward-si2xd Yeah i know but again there were hackers in the beta and their anti cheat did nothing. Thats already a red flag.

I think it should be treated like piracy, and every cheater should be held responsible for causing financial damage

If piracy is illegal, why shouldn't cheating be considered illegal? It truly can be detrimental to any game, especially one as new as the Cycle while it's trying to make a name for itself. I mean, shit, just get EA involved lol. They're so concerned with microtransactions and margins, you would think they would be willing to fund litigation that makes the argument for stopping the hemorrhage of lost profit. This applies even more with regard to RMTs, not just losing out on player base.
Edit: Thanks again for the thorough videos, this is an important topic that will affect future game development across the board.
sweet car! and I agree man it should be a fine of jail time personally
Yaeger might give you back your partnership to hide these videos. I never really get why people cheat but it’s interesting to hear why it’s done. Great video man!
This is the only game I would download a kernel level anti cheat for
Agreed!!
@@TickleMePinkGaming bro your community engagement is insane props. Quickly becoming my favorite RUclips not just because of this game. So tired of the tried and true "make sure to like and sub" and your take is an orgasmic delight of difference. Glad to see there are still edgelord with taste out there
Loved the end "quit cheating dickhead!"
So what I got from this video:
1. Disable overlays
2. 2 Factor Authentication
3. Copy Valorants anticheat (is this possible?)
I really want to play this game like day 1 where I wasn't scared to bring in my best gear. Now I find myself only running with white armor and trench gun so it doesnt matter when I get pickaxed for 1,709 damage.
I have great idea in actually reduce cheating in gaming community by a lot and punishing. It may not sounds practical but this required many developer to actually participate in building such community
What's the idea?
The fact that a good portion of budget goes to counteracting cheaters makes me feel that there should be laws that protect the creator’s property, since they’re spending a crap ton of money just to prevent a couple bad apples affect the rest of the player base. Prolly gunna watch more mindset of cheater vids now
Getting rid of cheaters means making it too expensive to keep doing. This means two factor authentication and up-front box prices. The Cycle will likely be killed off by cheaters because it’s free. Getting caught and banned does little to nothing.
yeah idk
I really hope the battle pass release can bring this game some money. I love playing it and would hate to see it go under, I will definitely be purchasing it to show my support!
I know for myself that having been squad wiped by a cheater it almost makes me want to cheat just to have a more level playing field.
Yeah man it was super cringe ngl
I do not support cheaters that go around and use aimbot, ESP or any type of advantage to destroy other legit players progress
But i admit i loved when some random guy appeared out of nowhere in GTA V to give me some random modded car or a money drop
It's a different experience I totally understand why some people feel like cheating, but also why some feel like it destroys games (which is true)...
all cheaters are shit imo
It's kinda sad, that at this point it's become an addiction for this guy.
He physically can't enjoy games without cheats.
Pretty cringe
as a kid i rly had fun using cheats in games, but nowadays when i cheat in a singleplayer game the fun is gone instandly.
For me its a pure waste of time playing a game where you can cheatcode everything.
4:20 "Generally, it's because I'm not that good at gaming-- I'm gonna admit it. And I always wanted to be better than other people, so I was like, 'Y'know, if I can't improve, or maybe I can improve, but I don't want to, why don't I just start cheating?'"
This literally explains his psyche, and it's pretty nuts. He has total disregard for other people's enjoyment, and for an "equal playing field."
Cheater, the reason why you improve is so that you can prove to yourself what your skills, talents, and worth are.
Or worse yet...NFTs in games now
I would be too
Crazy you got this done so early, good work my guy!!!
I think that there are grounds for making cheating illegal in these live service games. It's illegal to do so when gambling in Vegas, for instance. It's fraud, it damages the company that made the game, and it damages their customers. However, that would be really tough to enforce and litigate, at least here in the states, I would guess.
Dude for real!
Hard to listen to the cheater talk, especially when he was saying he isn't "directly" destroying the game, a complete lack of self-awareness. It's like hearing an interview with a meth dealer saying "drugs are bad kids!" so fake. Nothing but respect for smaller game developers dealing with this filth.
this content came at the perfect time, really relevant right now.
Right
IMO battling with cheats is not about a single method but a wide range of actions and counter measures. Having people manually banning cheaters are a must, a good anti-cheat software is a must, but these are not enough to stop cheaters, companies may really need to take legal actions against ppl who make these cheats etc
I mean for proof they could make it to where we spectate who killed us when we die
while yes that would help a lot. in a game like the cycle you can't out right do that. if you are going to do that you would have to make it where you can't spectate until your whole squad is dead. I wouldn't even doubt it if the cheats could by pass the spectating system
Yeah but that’d also be bad for call-outs
I got cheated on so much that I got a gym membership
Lmao
I've never cheated in a game before but after watching this interview I'm definitely gonna try it out, thanks for the video xx
💀
Can’t wait till your banned as you deserve.
Not based
Sad how people waste their money to cheat on a game, when they’re not actually gaining anything in the end.
Like why
He speaks about his cheating with such vindication. His parents must be so proud....
No way people are actually paying for keycards, those cards are so damn easy to find I literally just sold 8 of them since I didn't have space
right?
if EFT's "solutions" are your role model then this game is gone in a year or 2 anyway.
Ofc not, but that should have been on their minds at the very start.
yeah man well said, i dont think eft is a good example
You will never stop the diehard cheaters but the objective is to make it annoying enough to cheat that the fun is gone to stop the 90%
Nobody gonna talk about Tickles mad love for AMSR Latex Gloves tho 17.01
Hell yeah
It reads all of the specs of your pc and bans the serial number on every piece of your pc.
yep!
First time I bring a purple gun into crescent falls I get insta killed by a pickaxe.
@@KFC66 I installed the game again, it’s addicting to play, shame the mechanics suck
Yeah I hear you man atleast it’s just pixels
Lol my man hasn't lasted for even 2 days
This was such a great interview Pink. Youre on a roll man with banger videos and live streams. Keep it up man.
And btw YAGER GET THIS MAN BACK ON THE BANK ROLL!
I currently play The Cycle and there still seems to be cheating. I mean when I get killed by another prospector I never see them. They seem to kill me from behind every time.
what is the gameplay happening in the background? are you running through a tunnel or something? im new to the game
dungeon!
Please no movement sensor in this game
I like planetside's recon darts and how the infiltrator can softcounter enemy infils
I was tempted to suggest a similar item in this game many times but realising how potent would be for competent players when i had so many narrow escapes that would have been impossible if they had a scanner thing.
Now if you suggest this in the context of cheaters, a no would not suffice anymore
So there you go: FUCK NO WHAT ARE YOU ON MOFO
Interesting talk and I’m surprised yo see a self aware cheater. I thought most of them would be delusional. Also the overlay part makes sense y destiny 2 disabled overlays. The ending was a cherry on top Pink well done.
same man I 100% imagined them as braindead weirdos
A question for the cheater, What does he think of the curent situation in SouthEast Australia and does he think the new Parlament will fix things
I think this guy is lying about the prices he's selling stuff for, you wouldn't even need to cheat to farm some of those keycards lol
you underestimate the laziness of people who hack
you dont need to cheat to farm anything in the game. he mentioned he used the cheat most of the time for farming rather than killing.
If u esp to avoid been killed it will be an increase of progress in the game.
but i for myself got the most kick because i dont know whats around the corner.
hacks gonna turn it boring at some point
i dont think many people do that
Are these cheaters only getting their accounts banned? Are they getting IP banned? Are getting hardware banned?
account banned
BTW
In S. Korea cheating is punished by law. Maybe its worth looking into that.
Every Cheater is damaging the trademark and the product. There is financial damage.
it is? i didnt know that!
It's the same in Korea.
i stopped playing cycle cause every game i entered there were hackers and cheaters... needles to say i don't play video games at all
yeah i feel ya
