Self-Care with Herbs & Plants

- Herbs and Plants are wonderful beings to help us when we need a little Self-Care. For smudging I was using Bay, Sage, Mugwort and Rosemary - details of their properties below. We all need to love ourselves and herbs and plants can help us to do just that. Here I share several ways that I include my favourite plants and herbs in Self Care. Please let me know what you do. I do mindful walking, pick a bouquet of "weeds" from my garden; enjoy a Rose infused oil for a hand massage; smudge my auric field with Bay; enjoy a footbath of Rose and Rosemary and a lovely cup of tea with Chamomile and Rose.
If you are interested in Herbal Medicine consider my course I"ntroduction to Herbal Medicine" - www.danusirishherbgarden.com/... and my course - Wise Woman Way includes working with plants using druidic and shamanic techniques - www.danusirishherbgarden.com/... Rosemary - Protection, Purification, Healing
Rose - Protection, Healing, Love,
Mugwort - Protection, Healing, Strength, Psychic Powers
Chamomile - Purification, Protection, Healing, Sleep
Other herbs and plants for protection include - Agrimony, Angelica, Birch, Figwort, Nettle and St. John's Wort to name just a few. For purification you could also work with Cedar, Euphorbia, Fennel, Lavender, Vervain and others.

Thanks for watching - have a great week xx
I volunteer at an animal sanctuary and I recommend offering service to helping animals as a way to enrich the heart. Then I come home, have a cup of tea and watch the latest from Danus Irish Herb Garden! ☺🥰☺🙏🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Thank you for doing that. Most of my friends are dogs. 🖤🐾
Me too.Absolutely the best tonic helping animals and being around them❤
That's a great idea! How lovely! Thanks for sharing xx
Wonderful, I love when someone rescues, helps, and heals the little creation - me too blessed be x
❤
As women we have been taught to always take care of the people around us. Unfortunately, that doesn't usually include ourselves. Self-care seems to be near the bottom of our to-do lists. Thank you for this very important reminder and helpful ways to take care of myself! Being in my garden or just sitting and watching the birds calms me. I'm also learning about the art of doing nothing, and that it's OK to ignore my never-ending To-Do list for a while.
Yes to everything you said! When I'm walking in the summer, I have a hard time not veering off before I even get a mile in. I walk in a very long driveway.....so I then see the chicken coop....did they poop in the water?...... Oh, I need to check the beans, or whatever.... This month, I'm putting my health first. A few 'floor exercises', sit-ups and such, walking without veering off, etc.
Amen!
Those lists survive our neglect, they just wait so no reason not to enjoy the bird song 😊😘
I am an artist. Part of my self care is allowing myself to create. Most of the time I paint and oh how it makes my happy. It's definitely a form of meditation for me.
July of Canada 🇨🇦
for me also! And meditate too😊
Creativity is so important and when it brings you into bliss, you must do it 😊xx
Dear Terri and Lol... Well that was timely and wonderful at the same time. I believe we are all in need of a bit of self care. Lifes daily goings on cause stress whether we know it or choose to ignore it, it's real. These were excellent suggestions and I plan to do each one this week ! I loved seeing your wildflower bouquet and the foot bath looked especially inviting. I'm on my feet a good part of every day and often forget that they need attention too. Thank you both for taking part of your Sunday to encourage and enlighten us every week. Much sincere love to you both, along with jazz and brock for the smiles they bring us 💜🕯🐾🐾🕯💜
Your are so kind, thank you. And massage your feet too, it is luxurious and blissful especially if you are on them all day xx
The Native Americans here call this Smudging. It has been part of their cultural traditions for centuries, and if possible they make a fan from Eagle feathers
Thank you for these great self-care ideas and the reminder to practice them regularly. As I've gotten older I'm much better at self-care. On my walks I've been using the alphabet to inspire positive "I am" affirmations starting with the letter A. "I am awesome" for example. I find I'm walking with a big smile, often laughing and feel fabulous. Bubble baths, taking time to read novels, eating delicious wild food (mostly weeds and berries), petting my purring cat, tending the garden, getting a good night's sleep, laughing with friends and my dear 4 year old grandson, are some of my favorite self-care activities
Hurray for you, that life sounds wonderful, similar to mine 😊😊 we are so lucky xx
Thank you, Terri. I reside in the States, at the foot of the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Your videos have become my Sunday morning ritual. Always a calming and lovely start to my Sunday. Today’s video was just what I needed. I work in the high stress legal profession among other demands. Thank you for reminding me how much I need (we all need) self care❤️
I hope you don't let it slip your mind or put it off 'til later. Do it now! xx
Thank you for all you do for us. I love seeing your dogs in the garden and listening to your husband's music. The silent majority in the USA will protect Democracy.
Peace!
Peace to you too xx
Watching you is part of my self care ❤
Aw!! That is so kind xx
Thank you for another lovely, relaxed Sunday morning. 🤗🤗
You’re welcome 😊 xx
Thank you so much. Now that I am retired I am more busy than ever with projects and hobbies. Still, as much as I enjoy this, I need to relax and slow down and remember to enjoy self care. Perhaps not easy for a man, but necessary I believe. Thanks you again.
Absolutely necessary for you too. You don't have to slow down just TAKE some of the time for yourself xx
Hi Terri!
My Sunday morning isn't complete without your mini meditation video!
A shower is one of the main ways I cleanse. I have social anxiety so even just going to the store, or being with friends can do me in! I can only be with other people for maybe an hour or two. When the water comes over me, I just imagine all the negativity washing away with it. Incense is another way I cleanse. We are big incense burners in my house!
I love your theme this week of self-care. My friend recently told me I should date....my response was, "how can I love someone else when I'm currently trying to love myself?" that may seem grim, but it encourages me to keep on going with myself love and acceptance!
Anyway I'm rambling!😹
As my favorite music group always says:
Love Yourself, Speak Yourself!💜
Thanks for being so open. It's great thst you are working on loving yourself but don't let that work preclude you from loving others. One of my favourite mantras is "I am loved, loveable and loving" and I hope you can use it xx
Sometimes, my fingers lock up from holding them the same way so long. That massage worked wonderfully and great idea for the foot bath. 💜
So glad it worked so well for you xx
Thanks Terri. I did enjoy this week. And tonight, I drew myself a lavender flower and rolled oats bath. My skin is so soft now from that. And to drain the bath I just use a tea strainer in the plug hole, so I can luxuriate in the water with the flowers all floating around me, and not have to worry about mess.
Sounds great! Wonderful tip xx
Thank you for offering us these beautiful and healthy practices. I appreciate you for mentioning the concern over the decline of white sage and for reciting the beautiful Navajo prayer, too. Hope you have a lovely day and a peaceful week. 🌿🤍🌸🍵
Thank you so much Cynthia - you too xx
Beautiful reminder for 18:42 self care. I'm reading The Way of the Rose, by Halima and learning so much about the history and benefits of the rose. Thank you Terri. Sending everyone here love and blessings 🌹🌹🌹
Thanks for sharing!! I will look that up xx
I totally agree with you: self care is so important these days! I love to walk around my garden and greenhouse, I do a some work in the garden, not too long, pick some flowers, herbs and vegetables because it makes me happy and proud! With love from Netherlands.
That is wonderful, that your garden makes you happy. Mine does for me. xx
Awwww Teri what a kind and gentle reminder for applying our own self care! ❤
I hope you do something for yourself Miranda - these are just suggestions to get you going😄 xx
One of my self-care practices is watching and learning from Terri Conroy. I especially enjoyed and benefited from this presentation. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! x
Lovely ❤. I have been blessed with a huge crop of calendula plants in my garden. I cut the beautiful yellow and orange flowers and put them in a vase in my kitchen and on my alter. Their bright beautiful colors lift my mood and I love the scent. They make me smile every time I look at them. Thank you for your tips. Enjoy you week
|Fresh flowers are such a gift to us. Enjoy your week also xx
What a lovely reminder to care for ourselves ❤ I happily gave myself a hand massage and will take care of my feet as well!
Much love and gratitude ❤🌻
So glad to hear you were happy doing that hand massage. Good for you xx
Your post was spot-on this morning. Thanks!
Glad it was timely xx
I feel refreshed just watching your lovely video! Thank you for sharing!
Her show is calming and peaceful ... like a little mental vacation form the satanic world
That is good to hear xx
Good morning to you! This was so beautiful! Thank you so much! Self care is something that most of us can often times neglect. I am trying to build my garden with as much beauty so I will be able to partake of its offerings as well. Have a great week my friend!
You too dear Ramona. Working in our gardens benefits us as well as the plants and animals xx
I couldn't say anything more wonderful or in the very least better than you already said today, dearest. Thank you very much for such good advice. In my heart you are a most precious, beloved friend. Love and blessings to you and to your whole family.
Dear Daniela, thank you so much, I hope we are all friends here. Love and blessings to you and yours too xx
Thanks Dear Terry 🙏🌺I really appreciate your advice and guides
You are so welcome xx
What lovely and gentle practices, and so simple. Thank you my dear.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching xx
It is so important to take care of you mind's health. Take time out to pamper yourself, take a walk I the fresh air and free yourself of negativity. If your mind is healthy and balanced your physical heath will be too. Thank you for reminding us .
Most definitely, they are so linked we have to look after both xx
The colors of the flowers in this video and the sky is amazing! Beautiful! Thanks for the terrific ideas about self care. It is such an important part of our self awareness and effective living.
You are right - it is xx
I agree, your armful of "weeds" ... an armful of HUGS !!!
The human aura, a (RAINBOW) of our souls.
Rosemary, the first plant, so many years ago ... she reached out, with blessings.
Keep strong, happy, healthy ... the only way to help others.
Thank you and Blessings.
Blessings to you Kat. Hope your plants are all well too xx
Hi precious, so nice to see you today. It has been a while and am so thankful and grateful to get to be here watching another one of your amazing and lovely videos. Hope you are having a safe and happy beginning of your week and up coming week ahead. Always remember that I love you bunches.
I hope you are well as I haven't seen you in a while either. Blessings for your upcoming week and may it be a good one xx

Thank you xx
Walking meditation is my go to, sitting still is just too hard 😂
I absolutely love you Terry and your whole gang there! Just watching you relaxes me and gives me ideas and refreshes the ones I already knew! Thank you! I have much gratitude for your energy on this channel! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! Thanks so much! We appreciate you too xx
I'd like to share what I do for selfcare...I watch your videos! Thank you, you always guide me towards a positive and reflective place! My garden is also a place that always grounds me which I'm so thankful for. Thank you again for a great watch, have a wonderful, blessed week xxx
Thanks Deb and you too - hope you are having some sunshine xx
You are the BEST!! Thank you for the continuing bright antidotes to the darkness we all face. You have stepped up to provide us all with the coping mechanisms we so need. Thank you also for mentioning White Sage's vulnerability. It can be easily grown in personal gardens for personal use. You are a human healing herb yourself, and your videos (kudos Lol) are the access. Walks can also be dedicated like a prayer for specific causes with purpose. Blessings to you from every spiritual realm. 👑❤
And blessings to you too and thanks for that beautiful idea of dedicating a walk with intention xx
Thank you Terri, a wonderful reminder that plants really are our allies in every aspect of our lives. Your garden looks so very beautiful, thank you very much for another super Sunday conversation, sending hugs xx
Hugs to you too. Plants are always there for us is so true xx
I try to do this every day. It is so hot and humid in the south of America that I only go out in the mornings. But then the mosquitoes are out so that kills the vibe. So I bring flowers inside and put my feet in a cool foot bath in summer and a hot bath in winter when I can.
Glad to hear you are practising self care already xx
Beautiful video Terri and Lol. How I envy you your cooler breezy sweater weather. It's sweltering here in Canada. Bad enough in ON, but the western provinces are burning up. I love your feather wand. I used to collect Canada goose feathers (all naturally discarded) yearly from a nature area. I've made many feather bouquets as smudge gifts. Your wildflower bouquet idea is uplifting to the spirit. Have a beautiful week and blessings from my place in the world.
You too Karen and hope you get to cool down - and hope we get to warm up!😂
This is so timely for me (and I’m sure many others). The state of politics in my country (US) has me vascillating between anxiety and anger in any given moment of the day. I hike regularly in nature to help me defuse but additional self care is definitely in order. Thanks so much for this, Terri!
It is the same here, everywhere I expect, so we must refuse to comply, stop giving our energy to the negativity everywhere and focus on the future we want. Xx love and blessings
Thanks again Happy Sunday ❤
Happy Sunday to you too xx
Honestly, part of my self care is enjoying your show 🐕🦺🐕🐾💐🌿🌈👒❤️🕯Thank you!
That is so kind of you to say, thank you xx
Beautiful flowers and tree❤❤❤
Lots of flowers at this time of year, even though it is cold!
I love the intro images & music Terri. Relaxes immediately. Thanks, I'd forgotten some of these self help things. Will do them . Enjoy your beautiful weather. 😊
We have had a lovely week with sunshine for a change. So glad to hear you feel relaxed after watching. xx
I do love the music you play in your videos I look forward to each Sunday ❤❤
Yay! Thank you!
Oh I can see how beautiful, crafty, creative and caring palms you have 😊
Thank you so much 😊 xx you are so kind to say xx
Hi Terri…great suggestions! Will be incorporating the hand massage into my routine of self care. I use the sage clearing in my home as well as over myself and pets…I follow up with some sweet grass to invite good, positive spirits into the space. Another way to clear your aura is when showering use Sea Salt by scattering around the tub as you shower. Above, side to side and around your feet. Have a great week. Blessed be
Thanks for sharing!! That's a great tip. I also lay a line of salt across my gate and front step, to keep out negative energies. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Yes..excellent!

What a lovely way to start my Sunday and my week. Thank you Terri. 🥰❤️
You are so welcome! Xx
A lovely reminder thank you . Just back from a spiritual herbalism summer school in Scotland and we did many of these things over 5 days . Came back with a new perspective on life ✨️
Was that the Scottish school with Keith? If so I am sure you came back with renewed vigour xx
Just what I needed!
Ha ha, hope it has prompted you to do something xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden yes! I made bread!
Needed to hear this Terri! Thank you as always!
Glad it was helpful! Xx
Peaceful way to start the day! Your garden looks amazing! The way the world is I’m more of an introvert and enjoying the moments. Nature is my best friend.. enjoyed the Self Care Natural healing. I love soaking in a tub of mint and rose petals, it’s wonderful! Thanks for sharing your story. 🪴🌸🌿
Nature is indeed our friend, always. Xx
Ive developed arthritis of the thumb, in both hands. Firstly, i got very upset, took medications, then i became proactive and that meant exercise for hands, and massage and refining some movements esp in gardening. The exercises and massages work...thanks Terri
Keep it up, daily if you can xx
Thank you for this beautiful content and heartfelt message
Blessings to you too and don't forget! xx
I think it's very important to get outside our houses and into nature. I live in a big city (Nottingham), but even here there are "green-ways', what used to be railways, but shutdown, which many thought to be a bad thing, but now we have these green-ways dotted about all over, at least here. I am 2 minutes away from the nearest one, a good source of food and medicine too, we have dandelions, blackberries, apples (crab and regular), rosehips, nettle...
I think it is vital to get out -when I lived in England we had some of those old railway tracks near to us and they are great assets for town and city dwellers. xx
Thank you Terri.
You are so welcome xx
Such a lovely garden! Thank you for the self care talk. So needed these days!
Don't put off doing something! xx
Music at times.
Watching and listening to the birds in our yard.
Looking at the beautiful flowers and erbs my Honey bunny grows and loves so much.
Hearing that she had a visit from the hummingbird today was uplifting 😊
Sweet, simple, natural pleasures. Very uplifting xx
G’morning from Northern California 😊 Thank you for the wonderful reminder to care for ourselves and the simple ways to do so. Have a beautiful day 🌿🌹💕🐝
Thank you and have a wonderful week, with time for yourself xx
Thank you for this lovely video, Terri! These are all wonderful tips for self-care. For my own self-care, I would also include cooking and eating healthfully. When I'm "on the edge," I'm so tempted to eat junk. But that only makes me feel worse! If I can hold it together long enough to remember this, the act of cooking and eating something healthful (and beautiful!) can nourish me body and soul. ~Audrey
Thanks for sharing!! I agree that is so important and to remember to resist the junk too xx
Good morning terri, happy Sunday to you .going to have a cup of tea and watch now. X😊we have sunshine and showers again today xx
Good morning! Same here xx

Thank you, and many blessings sent.

I try to avoid stressful situations. As an empath, my feelings get severely wounded very easily. I do not watch the news. I do get some news online, picking and choosing what to watch. Since I'm retired, I don't have to get stressed out by people at work. Here on my little farm, I have my horses, dogs, cats, chickens. I prefer animals over people. The birds sing, the trees sway in the breeze. Right now, it takes me hours a day to pick red and black raspberries, blueberries, and vegetables. I DO need to take time for self care, even though growing most of my own food is self-care! And herbs, too, are always 'hanging around'. When I'm walking, I do my 'gratefuls', "Thank you Universe, for my land, my animals, the ability to walk, hot and cold running water comes out of my faucette, etc." I will also walk and say, "Let....go...." in a sing-songy way, The 'let' tone decreasing to a lower 'go' tone. I also enjoy music at different frequencies, like 852 Hz for example. You can feel the music working in your chakras, there are different frequencies for different chakras.
Sounds idyllic! xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden I think it is! My home is my castle/sanctuary. :)

Hello to you both lovely video and very informative, I do enjoy a foot bath, and pedicure afterwards before getting into bed a peaceful nights sleep is my reward for self care.I have been collecting the rose petals and bottling them in water using the rose water for hair rinse and for my skin care especially my hands and face.I love the fragrance and it's a much better hair care rinse along with Rosemary .I read an item on hand wringing, being beneficial, where as in times gone by the wringing of hands was used to describe a distraught female, we now know it was used as a form of self calming. Once again thank you for such a lovely video always good to visit your homestead.
Hugs and Blessings 💚🌹
Hugs and blessings to you too - you are always welcome xx

Thank you so much for this vidéo. It is soothing in itself!
Thank you Claire xx
Love your amazing white wing for smudging
Yes, such a gift xx
Such lovely doable things...our World is upside down and that's what I have tried to tune into step away from all the negatives and create,a hand massage or a book or a course or a meal or a pie..we/I get side tracked into so much senseless destructive propaganda which is created to control and sidetrack us into almost sabatrging our peace and tranquility and quality of life as it is we lose it so thank you for the timely reminder xx
I agree Maura, so even doing just one thing is of great benefit xx
Thanks for the reminder. Much love to you
You're welcome! xx
Beautiful!
Thank you! Xx
What a lovely uplifting video with great ideas....😊 thank you
You are welcome and hope you enjoy doing some of these. xx
💙 Thank you Terri.
I find myself staying too busy, to take my "me" time. I think of it earlier in the day . . .
then . . .
Busy, Busy, Busy. 😢
An old medicine man friend of mine traveled some in Europe. He found a certain type magnolia tree, that he said had the same properties as bay. He brought back home some seed, and now there is a huge magnolia tree in his side yard.
He said that the tender new leaves of spring were the best time to harvest. His tree put out new baby plants each year at the base of the tree. He seemed to have found it in some emperor's special herb garden.
Wonderful story - for a tree to grow in a different environment. Yes, we must all stop being so busy - everything gets done eventually xx
Self care is something I dont do enough of. I will start with the foot bath. Thanks.
Start there and keep going xx

Thank you for the lovely reminders, Terri & Lol. I’ve been so frustrated at the state of things, very disillusioned about our world. I’m about to go into the garden and collect some smudging bundles for myself and friends. Cheers

Fabulous thank you Terri for this wonderful video 🙏💞🧚

Its the middle of the night here, yet you have me inspired to enjoy a lovely foot bath later. This time of year, when the air is warm, I'm typically out enjoying the sweetness of the early morning, a meditative, prayerful, gratitude time for me, soaking in the beauty and seeing the light of the day gently arriving through the woods of Pine and Cedar as the Sun eventually peeks up and over the ridgeline.....
Rather than my predawn roasty coffee, today I look forward to going to the jar of Chamomile blossoms and to a Rose bush instead....
Ode to nurturing 💕
