I could only understand bits and pieces, but that isn’t anything to be rude about. Unlike the majority of my embarrassing country, I have respect for people who don’t speak perfect english
It's not as if they can't just turn closed captioning on if they're having a hard time, it picks up most of her words because they're pretty clear! I have APD and usually use subtitles and CC and I could still make out most words just fine, if the CC gets most of them right (and the automatic CC often gets even native speakers wildly wrong), it shows she was speaking very slowly and deliberately to be clear and easily-understood.
Thank you for posting this. Having studied Queen Victoria's life since I was 5, it's fascinating to see these dolls which are often referred to, rarely shown. Thank you so much.
These are so lovely!! I've heard about Queen Victoria and her wooden dolls she made with her governess, read about her playing with wooden dolls because it was mentioned when she appeared as a character in The Dolls' House and wanted Tottie (the doll heroine of the book) because her nurse used to buy her farthing/peg-wooden dolls. ;3; I love this video, you can see the great care and love for the individual dolls from the conservator. Thank you for the lovely and informative video, Takami Mika. ^^
Very disappointed about how rude and disrespectful these comments are, about her accent, the volume and so on. Her accent is fine, it is not her fault English is not her first language *not assuming it is* and with the volume, just turn your headphones up. No need to be rude jerks, my God.
Most of us Americans only speak one language, but get angry when foreign people don’t speak english, their second or third language, perfectly... I’m getting out of this embarrassing country as soon as possible!
Very interesting and knowledgeable. Glad to see those famous dolls (that made the notorious "Kensington system" more bearable for young Victoria) restored. Subscribed. (+ I loved your cute accent and beautiful smile!)
Princess Patriot--A self-named and self-appointed "princess" WOULD think her comment worthy of reading. I'll pass. IGNORING a snarker is the best way to handle you all.
One MercilessMing You’re rather rude yourself. They previous commenter was simply pointing out what they’ve observed in the comment section. There’s no need for the hostility.
This was an amazing opportunity to show us Queen Victoria’s dolls. What a pity it fell short - I felt I was concentrating more on her voice than the history.
Ju AC--If English is NOT your "mother tongue" then you either take elocution lessons to rid yourself of a heavy accent or you have someone else do the narration. That's EXACTLY what most of us did.
audrance--I agree with you. Those of us who grew up in multi-lingual households who wanted to be upwardly mobile in a society where those languages were NOT the mainstream language took elocution lessons and etiquette lessons to ensure that we were not mired in penury as our ancestors were. Most high schools and community services as well as local colleges offer those classes either for free or for a very small cost.
Why make this video if you don't show detailed, close-ups of each doll. Most everyone in the world do not get to see this event. Also, I don't care what this person's favorite doll is... It sure as heck was not mine, and too much time on the video was spent on it. Disappointing. End.
Awww...ain't that quaint? Victoria HERSELF named and dressed her 132 dolls. Imagine that! I don't supposed it EVER occured to the little spoilt brat to donate a couple of them to an orphanage where, in her youth, bloody few children in orphanages, workhouses, or hospitals got ANY toys to play with, did it? Do I have a doll collection that large? Well, as a matter of fact, I do. Each of them has a period-specific wardrobe that I made for them. My two (get that, TWO) childhood dolls are being donated to a museum. My grandchildren get their pick (one each) from the rest. My children each get ONE to keep. The REST get donated to a local hospital's children's cancer ward.
One MercilessMing ...your obviously exactly the type of person your trying to make Victoria out to be .you just made yourself look like a pompous judgemental ass dear . Victorias contribution to her Empire ,history and the world so far reach and outweigh a doll collection of hers as a child she kept . That you announcing how proud of what you did with your dolls and what should be done with hers is truly pathetic. Your ignorance and self importance is glaring on the world wide web 🙄
Princess Patriot--What a joke YOU are. A snark? No, you just showed yourself to be one of the grovelers before what is laughingly called "royalty" YOU are!! Victoria was so busy mourning the loss of her sex-toy husband that she was ineffectual in governing and the Establishment ran the nation, not Victoria. People l like you who are so ready to grovel at the feet of these twerps called "royals" and drool over the nonsense spewed by the sycophants and toadies who run these channels are the pathetic ones.
hagglemyivan--You're entitled to your silly opinion and your snark. Have IQs just dropped sharply across the planet or are your reading comprehension skills that low? Victoria was a child in the early part of the nineteenth century and donations of used toys AT THAT TIME would have been welcome. She could also have donated one of the plethora of toys as new before she even put her grubby little mitts on them. She dressed her own dolls??? How elitist!! As if Victoria and, by extrapolation, little girls everywhere should have a nursery maid, nanny, or other flunky to dress her dolls for her.
One MercilessMing Good god, what the hell is your problem??? This video was about a doll collection, yet you turn it into a personal attack on Queen Victoria and anyone else who dares stand up to you. How do you know her donated toys would have been welcome? Were you there???
I understand her perfectly. Don't know about the rude commenters...
I could only understand bits and pieces, but that isn’t anything to be rude about. Unlike the majority of my embarrassing country, I have respect for people who don’t speak perfect english
I am not even native and it is fine to me. Besides, subtitles in English are available

I found the volume a bit low,so I put the captions on. Problem solved!

What amazingly rude comments here, which only reflect badly on the commenters themselves.
SSG--And what does YOUR snark say about YOU?

Park ChimMin--ROFL--at YOU. You have just shown that you are no different from anyone else here. So take your self-righteousness and move on.
Fascinating! It looks like they are wooden peg-dolls with the head and forearms perhaps made of a different material.
Wow!! What an absolute treasure!!
Everything is very sweetly explained and I love your accent. Thank you
Very nice video Mika!!! :) Love historical and royal stuff/place's!!!
Fascinating video. I wish I could've seen this exhibit in person.
Mika, thank you! Great video!!!
What an interesting video. Thankyou for sharing it.
Those dolls are so cute.
adorable !
The queen house is so big! I’m watching this in 2020
Wow these are beautiful dolls
Meanwhile my childhood dolls look like they’ve been on drugs since the 90’s😂😂
So cute! ♥️
all of you being rude of cant stand her accent whatnot can only speak one language, shame.
lol
I dont really play with it i just like too look at it.it a presure to see it alound.

There seems to be a problem with the sound. The video is barely audible.
And it still is...in February 2021...
Sound too low
Poor audio, wish I could hear it clearly.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the audio at all. Heard it perfectly.
I can hear it perfectly fine.
衣装の割に顔がお粗末。声が小さい。
Painful to listen to..
audrance English is not my mother language and I understood perfectly, I don't understand why is "painful to listen to"

Well, yeah, but only because the sound was very poorly recorded and not because of her accent or anything.
One MercilessMing rude.

Its a historical information video, with those words you should have assumed it would be long.
Geez, take it easy, man!
@@jadedmist In no place did I complain about the video length, just the length she spent on her personal favorites.
@@lemonhead162 OK 🙂

I didn’t think hospitals even let you donate used items anymore. Anyway, very rude comment, for such a cute video!

Too hard to understand the narrator I'm out.
