The '59 is my dream guitar as it is my birth year but, both examples are exquisite !! Thank you for sharing these with us gentlemen !

Two of my favorite Limeys, despite one wearing a Yankee cap and the fact that they're always playing American guitars. They've been hiding in the netherworld or something.

And as a Yank, I have to Google what Bob meant when he said, "Bit pony, isn't it?"

Alvin Lee's Woodstock 335 was a 59 renecked by Gibson with a late sixties neck after the original was broken.

Great format for a show, I hope this series continues. Rock and Roll Circus has some pretty decent clips of Clapton with Dirty Mac, playing his 335. Too long without posting, Thanks.

Wonderful guitars. I have a 1991 Gibson 59 reissue ES 355. I bought it new at Sam Ash in NYC. It’s a great guitar, not as nice as a real 59 but close enough for me. 👍

I’ve got the same 1991 335 in cherry. Love it. Love the show as well, good to have it back. The production values seem improved too, well lit with good audio and editing.

As much as I like red and sunburst, nothing beats a blonde for looks, or a black body for coolness. Looking forward to the shows where a 330, 345, and a 355 appear.

Both examples are incredible, thanks for sharing! I prefer the cherry finish, but have to come down on the side of the burst where the voicings are concerned. Just my opinion, and thanks guys!

Nylon or Tusq saddles can be helpful in preventing string breakage on a Gibson. I've been playing mostly SG's, when I play electric, since the mid 60's anyway, but I cannot remember what gauge strings electric guitars from the 50's & early 60's came strung with new from the factory. Does anyone recall? I have always used what today we would call 12's on my electrics. I remember using Gibson Mono Steel mediums a lot in the 70's. I think they were basically "12's". At any rate I know that I never used a plain 3rd string, always wound. I suppose that today people might refer to the electric strings I use as Jazz sets.
