Lovely. You get quite a buzz when a wild animal trusts you like that, well i did when feeding mine. Every night for a couple of months she would wait for me give her her treats, strange how much you can miss an animal when it is no longer around. :>(
urban foxes do seem to be getting bolder as they get used to people. Poor thing looks in a bit of a state :(You are brave risking a nip unless you have spent time getting her trust.
yes she had mange but a neighbour gave her medication and then she had five kits (ruclips.net/video/ufzSqbHC24U/видео.html) we then thought she was dead because we found a dead fox in a kennel....but we were wrong because a few weeks later the mum fox returned. yay! unfortunately she is yet to discover that my fingers are connected to the rest of me.....(unless that is part of her plan of course!)
Foxes are totally harmless, I don't think they'd risk nipping a human for fear of angering it. They're such lovely little Canids. If there were any in my area I'd do anything to help them out, and the fact these videos exist warms my little charcoal heart! It's a shame that a lot of lies about them attacking cats/dogs get thrown around by the media.
At my house, outside, we have a security camera that alerts us whenever something is nearby, during the night, me and my mum was out dining and stayed at my mum's friend's house for the night, the security camera alerted us and we saw a fox just lurking outside, it wasn’t my first time seeing a fox but I was lucky to have one outside our house, wish to encounter that fox again one day face to face.
They are easy to attract. The foxes around my house come when I whistle at night. I throw food out for them from my bedroom window. What is cute is seeing them waiting now before I whistle. Now I feed one of them from my feet. Again I whistle to attract his attention. I will be attempting to hand feed him soon. They are nervous animals and it takes time to win there trust.
I have a fox that has been showing up every night for the past 2 yrs I named him Pedro. Pedro turned out to be a Vixen but I still call her Pedro. The past 5 weeks or so she lets me sit beside her through the plant pots and has just visited again as I am typing. She comes right up to our patio door's now. I want to try and feed her by hand like you did but am a bit scared and I supose she feels that fear in me. I put a bowl of water out for her and feed her beef, chicken, bacon and an egg. The most interesting part of feeding her is the egg. If I roll it too her she will always sniff it then lay by it for some time, then she picks it up and walks off with it. She will only eat an egg in front if me if I crack it first. Does anyone know if she stores those eggs for winter in her den? She will come twice a night nearly every night she will come and sit under my bedroom window, around 6-7pm and then at about 1-2am.. Should I leave milk out for her? Ha I am thinking she is my pet fox🐅 Thanks for sharing your video.
Be brave foxes are cute let her know you wont hurt her. She's use to seing you so she and you should know niether of you Will hurt each other but make sure she doesnt have rabies first or you'll PROBEBLY die and. do some research on foxes like what do foxes like to eat, how do I know if a fox has rabies. do some research and find out more about her maby you two can be bffs!? I dunno just do some research befor you feed her with your hands!
if you have access to a garden/yard and there are foxes about then all you have to do is leave food for them and eventually they will get closer and closer. it takes time.....and some foxes are just not interested. it's all about patience.
you have to have an incredible amount of patience and lots of free time to spend waiting....with nothing happening. it's also possible there aren't any foxes visiting your home so putting food out is the best way to start. they're also most active at night so that means sitting around for hours in twilight....with mostly nothing happening. but if you are lucky, the rewards are there.
taming wild foxes has proved to be very difficult. most of them are very wary of humans....and those that aren't haven't let me stroke them.....they are too frightened of letting me touch them.
