That was a very informative presentation. I was very impressed with your familiarity with the text and your comfort in talking through concepts. With time, we may see you master the hand movements for smoother shooting.
Try the Hungarian, Slavic or Tatar shooting technique to have your arrows in the bow hand (not a draw hand), when arrowhead is pointing up, not down. It will increase a fire right due to the specific position, orientation and closure of arrows to the knocking point :) Even beginners will shoot fast, having 0 precision with their hand movements :)
I usually don't leave comments but I wanted to say it was a great video showcasing/highlighting the techniques of medieval Arab archery. Great presenting skills, very informative and great way of speaking. Plus because of this I found a new channel covering the topics I was always interested! Can't wait for your future videos!
There is so much information in this video. I'm amazed. The religious influence on archery I thought was especially interesting. You seem to do quite a lot of research for your videos, I'm impressed! Thanks for sharing, a new fan!
Being from England I always wanted a Longbow, but I discovered Horse bows! I've been practicing archery with my 48" string length 25lb@28" trad. bow, holding a few arrows in hand - no quiver - no anchor points no one style of anything... it's a horse bow after all. If my first shot misses (The flyer) the second or third usually does! I can average around 1 shot every 3 seconds... One day I might manage to get 3 shots a sec..... One day .... Maybe. In my mind a long bow is a rifle and a short bow is a sub-machine gun! Have you checked out Lars Anderson? All the best. ;-)
In Indonesia, we practicing and learning those imam technique through training on Archery Education Organization Pewaris lead by Al-Habib Qori Afrizan Al-Khered from Darul Fattah Islamic School (Pesantren), Temboro, East Java 🇮🇩
Abu Muhammad Jamal al-Din 'Abd Allah Ibn Maymun al-Murrakishi. he wrote al-ifadah wa-al-tabsir li kull ramin mubtadi aw mahir tahrir bi-al-sahm al- tawil wa al-qasir. 4 surviving copies. "Arab Archery" is the translated version. Though in 1945 when it was translated the author was unknown and only one copy of the manuscript was known. Arab Archery says 1500 AD but we now know that it precedes Taybugha's "Saracen Archery" and we know more about the work and author due to the newly found copies.
Greetings from latin america, it is hard to find any information of arabian history and the way you explain its just fantastic, you deserve more suscribers, god bless you🖖🙏 Psdt: do you recomend any book for arabian mithology or medieval arabian law?
Salamalaikum wrb can u please make more vids of islam and science in the islamic golden age where science was a big thing, plz my man wallah ur one of my fav youtuber this vid u made helped me a ton thank u so much u just got a new subscriber ❤
I'm curious did the Islamic world use high-powered composite bows during the 12th and 13th centuries? Thanks. I'm asking because from what I understand, they had pretty powerful bows that are arguably comparable to that of the longbows in Europe, if not maybe a little bit more powerful. Thanks for the information
I was so surprised an happy to hear this when I clicked, I thought this was gonna be some vaguely racist history retelling at first, so refreshing to have some actual history lesson
I really like that quiver @8:33. Who made it? I've been looking for more options along those lines that are not just the Alibow "Turkish" quiver, and yours actually looks even better IMO
Is there a pdf of the manuscript? If not then can you pleas tell us if there books on this wonderful manuscript. I really loved you video and it was so informative. The info you gave us on this topic is crustal for good archery. جزاك الله خير!
Nice Video! Do we know what kind of woods they used for the Non Composite bow construction and what wood for the construction of the composite ones? The bow you use ..can you give more info? manufacturer ..bow draw weight..etc??
I noticed that you're sort of using the thumb ring is a reverse manner, and gripping the reverse lip with your index finger kind of like using a Korean thumb ring. I've never seen it used like that before. Is this also another method described in historical manuscripts?
Ah at 5 min your knocking is *terrible*--comically so. You are drawing your arrows from the wrong side, and you need to grab them by the knocks to seat them quickly. Also, you're riding your release forward.
My friend Your theoretical knowledge is wide but I'd suggest that before you release a tutorial you'd rather learn some more about the practical side: You'd do much better wearing the arrow quiver on the right side, wether the arrows must face the back or the front is up to you, You wear a thumb ring but if you shoot using Mediterranean draw it's pointless. You wear the thumb ring upside down.
Thank you for these wonderful work. But as a traditional archery student I feel its a bit general. Can you please make a series where you discuss these subjects with more details :) Many thanks to you again and may Allah guides you!!
Your explanation was mostly very good but your shooting was completely wrong starting with your Mediterranean draw They used thumb draw the lock of 69 all good archers use this lock
The wisdom of Allah would say, before you teach, at least become proficient. That nocking tecknique alone is atrocious and no wonder it takes 24 seconds to loose 4 arrows. Please forgive my criticism and may Allah bless you with insight.
Why on earth you wear your quiver like that? 5 arrows in 2.5seconds is impressive but it's not impossible. You could should 5 arrows in 10 seconds is quite easy if you practiced enough and wear quiver properly
@@gilgamesh-antara that may be the case, but if so the archer would grab the arrow with the bow hand which is actually fast and efficient for thumb draw, the same as scythian quivers on the left side-but that's not the way he tries to draw here.

Thank you. I’m writing a medieval fantasy set in Central Asia and this has helped me a great deal.

Please do pre islamic battles ,weapons and war tatcis
in Medieval England every man in every village was required to practice archery every Sunday - similar to Mohammed's message.
Good information, and great video. 👍 There are 2 books I recommend if someone wanna look into it more, Arab Archery, and Saracen Archery
You should try keeping your other three arrows in the hand holding the bow and one arrow already nocked.😊

That's how the arabs and muslims were wearing quiver in the past.

Alot of mistakes in every aspect
This is a shame to archery the Arabs were way to fast and the arrows were a lot shorter they are shayookh in the gulf who still have the technique
