I was always a person who easily gains muscle. Push ups - here your arms, sprints - here your legs. But I always struggled to get lean. I could never sustain it. As long as I was eating intuitively - woosh. I gain everything back. Even when trying to focus on nutritious food. And it`s not like everything was wrong with me or my body - I just wanted to be a slim/runner type. It`s so nice to hear you sharing the your story because I remind myself how different everyone is.

I used to be a runner and loved the “runner’s high”. I moved and lost my typical trails I ran on. I want to get back into running this summer now that I know the area better. Your running challenge really helped me remember how much I loved running and that it’s about how you feel and not times or distance 😊

I just started therapy for my disordered eating, and it's so horrifying how much being in the fitness space fed into and celebrated the mindset I've been in for so long. Thank you for addressing it!
I used to run long distances and haven't in years, but have really been getting the urge to start up again. I'd love a new pair of shoes to give me a kick in the butt!

Keltie, thank you SO MUCH for posting this. As you know, I have been documenting my ED recovery journey on my own channel and really look up to you as a role model. Throughout my relapse and up to this moment I have gained over 50 pounds. Although it has all been healthy weight, I have been scared about sharing this fact because of societal stigma (I’m actually writing a pice for Toronto Life about this now). Your video shows that it’s okay to talk about weigh gain and I truly admire you for opening up about this. Love your channel so much, keep being awesome! ❤️

I’ve only recently found your content and I am so glad I did! I’ve dabbled in various “sports” over the years and at the ripe, old age of 62, I’m totally appreciating and embracing your approach of trying whatever and doing what you enjoy. I’ll always consider myself a runner even though a nagging hamstring issue has me gratefully running distances I would have previously scoffed at, but this year my goal is to get stronger so I can keep trying new activities and protect myself against injury and such. And I plan to keep my motivation by watching your videos so thank you!!

Hey Keltie and her amazing community,
I've been watching for a long time, back when you lived in T.O. and your journey has been so inspiring and motivating because it's so different from all of the other fitness journeys on RUclips. It doesn't feel judgemental or like you're cramming yourself into some niche box. I used to be a competitive athlete and lost it after college. I was in a downward spiral that is the fitness industry and didn't know what to do. Like you I started training as an athlete again and it has helped so much. I just started getting into running (I play hockey, so not a lot of running lol) and your run every day challenge was so cool to watch.
Thank you for everything and more everyone, seriously this is such a great community.

this actually made me cry, Keltie! Seeing and hearing your journey from what you thought you had to do to attain your goals, and the path that you actually took really hit home with me.
Ive posted on your videos before about my health journey - from once an avid runner, working full time & being active, to chronic illness and no longer being able to run, bike, drive, or work.
My previous identity was 100lbs overweight until I was determined to change. My new identity as a runner which I worked really hard to become (only started running at 34, I'm 49 now) was gone, the weight was coming on from inactivity and the diet train began. The "If I'm sitting around doing nothing, I can't eat because I'll gain mentality". Weighing, calculating every calorie.
I came to learn that I need and crave the endorphins and the gratification of feeling strong, and athletic for not only physical but my mental health. Do I see myself really as either of those? no. But it's my goal none the less. I've embraced strength training (as it means to me - like hey, i used 15lb dumbbells for my bicep curls today, a few weeks ago I could only do 10s!) But I need to wrap my head around the muscles need food, and to stop the chronic under-eating
I won't ever be a runner again -- a slow & stroll on the treadmill is likely my max. I have probably 20 pairs of runners from my glory days. But I also wear them to strength train and I know that's a no-no, so a pair of weight trainers (tried to get a used pair of metcons off ebay - what a nightmare lol)
    would be awesome.

I also had to learn on my journey of recovery that I shouldn't misuse bodybuilding, but rather see fittness and moving my body as something that should feel freeing and make my body healthier. Holding onto what I should or must do, and thinking in restrictions or extremes made me sick. Its a balance and to do what feels good for my body is a journey only I can take, not listening to what is out there. Still taking the journey but you really inspire me to keep getting healthier! Keltie, you are such a motivating and inspiring creator! You bring a balance, honesty, and empathy to your conversations and I find it so refreshing! Your empathy toward binge eaters in particular today really hit my heart as I am personally struggling with this lately (which I haven't had a problem with in over a decade...) and am examining the root cause of where it is coming from (emotional/psychological) instead of just cutting my calories to extremes where I'm put into the cycle of binge/restrict. I love that you encourage us to FEEL healthy and love that you express that it is a balance of mental, physical, mobility, and fun! I know I'm happiest when I can physically challenge myself and nurture myself with good food.

You articulated everything one needs to know about body building perfectly…chef’s kiss!!! When I started dating my husband he was in the middle of dieting for a show and I literally saw the difference of what that extra calories or cardio did or didn’t do…how he could carve out the way he wanted to look with the right food and exercise (how much how little). It was so much fun at first, but yes! It got old kinda fast and at the end of the day when all is said is done unless one does back to back to back shows…at the end of the day you are stuck with the muscle, skin, and bones that the good lord gave you and practicing acceptance especially body acceptance can be the hardest thing especially when you’ve been manipulating your body to look a certain way for a specific time period and/or goal for so long! You are so awesome Keltie!!!XOXOXO

You got this community because you embrace it all and you treat everyone and everything with respect, and serve as a good example for fitness youtube as a whole.
As for athletic endeavors, my goal is a very small one for fitness content as a whole, but a very big one for me. I want to run 5k in under 40 minutes. The thing is, I used to be an endurance runner, think long orienteering and trail marathons, and I was pretty good at it. You know, statistically good but not good enough to be Noticed, but that was enough for me, because it was fun and I got to run and be in nature and make my body Do Stuff and it was very cool. Then injury, unrelated to the running, but it kept me off my feet entirely for almost a year. And then another year of physio. And then I tried to get back to running, but any attempt at build up beyond 20 minutes total at a 9 min/km pace, and I started getting overuse injuries. Stress fractures, tendoniopathies - hamstring, knee, both feet - an undiagnosed but stress induced pain thing in the lower back, you name it, I got it.
So now here we are, three years later, with the hope that I can run a 40 minute 5k sometime in October. Wish me luck! And maybe give me a pair of shoes to do it with? :p
Incidentally, any 'fitness industry content' on injury rehab on youtube seems to largely be pro-athletes with entire teams working for them - which, don't get me wrong, it's their jobs, and it's interesting from a story perspective. But it is neither applicable nor inspirational for the average injured bloke because the surrounding circumstances are so drastically different.

I recently found your channel again after a long time of not seeing it around and I've been obsessed with your videos. You have a great energy and you're just absolutely inspiring to me. I've been weightlifting for a couple years now. I started very low and slow at 17 doing home workouts and restricting myself. Now I hit the gym everyday and I'm the strongest I've ever been, and thanks to your running videos I've taken up running which is something I loathed all my life. Now at 19 I am the fastest I've ever been, the most athletic and energetic, and I'm so excited to keep experimenting with my endurance training with running and boxing on top of powerlifting. Your videos made me feel like I can be an athlete in my own right and for that I am eternally grateful. Your positivity and your message has been a game changer. Stay cool, Keltie. Sincerely, Your Biggest Fan

You say you can't believe you have such a beautiful community but it was your beautiful energy and personality that brought us here. Watching you, I've learned to enjoy all physical activity and not view it as a chore. I've also started to focus more on what my body can do instead of how I look.
    We appreciate you so much!

    Dear Keltie,
Your fitness journeys and stories inspire me, because you show that health and sports can and should be joyous and fun! Recovering from Bulimia, running everyday has been an important part of my journey - however, I have been running in the same shoes for years and would be super happy to win a new great pair, which I can’t afford normally ❤

like many of the comments I've seen on your channel lately, you have renewed my passion and desire to go running. I used to go on 5 AM runs when I was 15 years old until 18 because I thought that was the way to get the body I so much wanted. today, my mindset has changed ASTRONOMICALY. and I do want to mention that one of the things that helped me get to this place was your videos. I'm not your longest follower but you had me hooked when I first saw one of your "eating like" videos. the lockdown felt less alone because you showed how you were (not) handling it and your channel felt like a nice place when I felt uninspired when my mind and body lacked life. this feels like something I've wanted to get off my chest for a long time now. I appreciate everything you do for this community and for being so open when at times it feels scary to be. inspirational.
it feels kind of wrong now to talk about the giveaway but as I said I ran when I was in my mid teens and I still use the same shoes as back then. i know this is terrible for my feet but I just don't have the correct knowledge on running shoes to pick out the right pair. even if I don't win, can you give me your recommendations?
    Lots of love,
    Kelly

Keltie. I love this video. I also fell into the trap that bulking and cutting was the only way to be athletic. I’ve suffered with an ED and that all or nothing mentality is NOT the way to go unless you have a real reason to reach a short term goal (a certain sport etc). I feel so much better after not dieting for 2 years.
I would love to win a new pair of running shoes. Running is one of the things that got me into fitness, but when I got into body building, I left it behind. Now that I’m starting again, it’s been harder in my bigger body, but a new pair of shoes would go a long way for my hot girl summer confidence. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for your videos and presence on RUclips! You have definitely influenced my mindset on fitness in an extremely healthy and productive way. For once, I care more about my performance than how I look, and I’d really like to thank you for that.
I grew up in a family of athletes and had a lot of athlete friends growing up, but I was never “good enough” for sports. At the time I thought it was because I wasn’t meant for sports, but in hindsight, I realize it was a lack of motivation and self-discipline. I was always looking at fitness as something you were born to be good at, not something you work towards. And now that I’m in my mid-20s, I’ve found my true niche and love for all things athletic. I have been boxing for about a year, and I’m obsessed - not just with the boxing itself, but the conditioning of an athlete. The inner competition in me has surfaced, and building that base level of athleticism has been incredibly rewarding and self-fulfilling. My friends now know me as the athletic and energetic one, and I absolutely love being known for my commitment to fitness. What I am most proud of, however, is that all the external praise has been based on my performance, not how I look. It feels amazing.
This was a long-winded explanation of my fitness goals, but in summary, I want to be an athletic powerhouse. I want to be able to do anything at a moments notice, whether that’s a pickup game of soccer, a hiking trip, surfing on the beach, running a race with friends, etc. I want to get my body to a base level of health and activity that allows me to be an all-rounder. This goal makes it extremely hard to pick shoes, however, because every sport needs different shoes 😅 what shoes do I wear if I want to go from boxing to a run along the river to a pickup basketball game? Help me, please haha.
Anyways, that was longer than I meant to write, but thank you again for your videos and uplifting mindset! I really do look up to you as an athlete but also as a role model in mental health and positivity ❤

Thank you for this! As someone who has struggled with binge eating and purging through exercise, I’ve always thought the crazy cheat day videos were a potential gateway or outlet (for some) to disordered eating. I’ve been watching your videos since 2018. You helped me heal my relationship with exercise by reminding me that exercise isn’t punishment - it’s for your physical and mental health and it can/should be fun! I set a goal to move daily and I adopted the mentality of “if I move, I win!” I’ve been exercising consistently without a punishment mindset for 4 years now. My relationship with exercise has completely transformed and a huge part of it is because of your videos! I’m now working on healing my relationship with running (that was my ideal way to purge through exercise in the past). Again, your 30 day running challenge inspired me and I have set out to do the same! I would love some help finding the right shoe. I have high arches and my feet roll inwards a little bit when I run. I would love any advice or to be a part of your giveaway! Thank you again for being an inspiration and someone who approaches your lifestyle with grace and flexibility! Much love 💕

I started following you last year because I was trying to do the split. I stayed because you were so open and honest about your progress, so even though it´s been almost a year since I started working towards my split, I haven´t given up, and I´m patient with myself. And I feel like that is what you are trying to say with your content: everyone is different, it takes more time for some people, don´t give up on your goals, being healthy and happy is more important than anything else and follow your pation. And also your relationship to food is so refreshing!

You always make my running on a treadmill so much easier, so today was my 103 run in a row and thats all because of you :) You are my motivation. and every time I feel like im gonna quit I see the video or IG story and that keeps me going. As I am never been runner this content has had so much impact on me and my relationship with my body and body image overall . I am still doing like you talked in one of your videos, sometimes 10K, sometimes just 2K, together with sprints and walks. I never thought I will enjoy running, but Im getting to this part, that this is "me" time and needed for my mental health as well :) So again thank you and keep up with he videos and work you do, because You are giving so much for so many people, and your happiness is like a drug!

I love love love this video. I have been on a journey since January. I had been yoyo dieting for years. I was in that terrible cycle of dieting and then not being able to sustain it. I had lost my appetite and I never knew when I was actually hungry and I just ate due to the timing. Since January I have stopped all that and started listening to my body. Enjoying life and food. My lifts are heavier, my mood is better, my body actually recovers, and the list goes on! 🖤 Thank you for showing us that you can incorporate fitness and living life to the fullest together and you don't have to miss out!
I could use all the advice you have on a good lifting or hybrid shoe though!

So much wisdom and knowledge! Thank you for this! I played sports and danced throughout my childhood and into college. After college it seems all hell broke loose. Working the professional office job and coming home to just eat and do whatever I wanted, my habits to move dwindled and slowly I've gained weight. I've been an off and on lifter never really being able to stick with it. I'm working yet again to move more and do more for my health so that I can just feel better. Here's to starting over what feels like for the 20th time and keeping on going. You are a great inspiration that fitness journeys don't have to fit a mold. Thank you!

I started wrestling last year and cutting weight was super hard. Especially this year. I remember the summer after my first year trying to get to a super low weight. I only got a little bit down from where I was by eating so little and tracking calories. I couldn't keep to my diet. I don't know if I cut weight next year but you've inspired me to do weight lifting and running. I really want to get stronger now! I like to think I'm less weight focused. I'm trying to focus on body neutrality. I don't always love how my body looks but I love what it can do for me and what I can achieve with it. I want to work towards having good form first of all and then deadlifting a hundred pounds for reps(my 1 rep max is 100 right now), squatting hundred pounds,(scared to squat more than 30 because my form isn't great) and bench pressing a hundred pounds(can't even bench the bar at the gym I go to.). I want to be a strong scary buff viking lady. that's pretty much my life goal. also getting gud at running. Also aiming to beat my time on a 5k I ran a few weeks ago of 43 minutes.
some hybrid shoes would be awesome!
