This is a very nice look at Odessa Liza! I see why Odessa is so famous now. It would be unusual for the city to look so great in normal times but for it to look like this during war is even more amazing. Slava Ukraine!
I was surprised when I visited Odessa that it is laid out like Washington D.C. . They were founded around the same time. The tree lined streets. Parks and wide avenues give them both a warm feel. I got to work all around Washington D.C. for 40 years. Odessa is the only city I have ever been in that rivals Washington D.C. for pure beauty and charm. All cities have their rough parts. The people in Ukraine were always very friendly, helpful and warm towards me (I only speak english) . If you like to travel, Odessa and the surrounding area is a great destination to take in.

Lisa, thank you for the interesting story about Odessa. I want to add a little to your story: on May 27, 1794, the Russian Empress Catherine II ordered Vice Admiral Osip Deribas to build a port in Hajibey and name it Odessa. Deribasovskaya Street is named after Osip Deribas 😊
