How can I use stainless steel for lemon curd but not have it taste metallic? Every single time I've made lemon curd with a stainless steel bowl and/or steel whisk, it tastes so metallic that it's basically inedible. I've tried in a glass bowl as well and that tasted better but after a day or two in the fridge it also developed a metallic taste.

Apparently some people think an Arnott's Granita biscuit is very similar, but a lot of people also seem to recommend a digestive biscuit as an alternative for a cracker-crumb pie base, e.g. McVities. I think you're looking for a "semi-sweet" biscuit or what used to be known as a "plain" biccie.

Typical biscuits crumbed for this purpose include malt biscuits, wine or tea biscuits, gingernuts, etc. They're not soggy and it's baked anyway, which will crisp up any crumb. Salata is a savoury cracker and you'd probably need additional sugar to get the desired result. These bases are typically made with a somewhat sweet biscuit, not savoury crackers. Even a Graham "cracker" contains sugar, more than a typical savoury cracker we're used to in Australasia - 31gm of sugar per 100gm of crackers.
