I’m confused. Why should the agent pay for photography and drone photography? When we sold our home in Colorado, the agent charged us for the photography and drone shots. We didn’t pay until we sold our home and it was taken out of the home sales before we got our check.
This is kind of best/worst case scenario mixed together. So the set up is that you’re a new real estate agent that is in a group selling million dollar homes. The company offers sellers photos and staging but the realtor is paying it out of pocket for some reason. Then when the home sells, commission is split. First of all, the costs aren’t necessarily that high. It depends on the size and state of the home. The fees wouldn’t come directly out of pocket in most groups, but would be deducted from the commission total, before split. Now if you’re solo, yes you’ll have to pay those fees and it will be a cost. But there’d be no split and commission would be higher so the investment makes a lot more sense IF you have that kind of money (to stage a million dollar home). So this example kind of didn’t make perfect sense, but it was a decent example of how much you could expect to make in the end if you’re in a group, but it was a bit misleading to make it seem like you pay $4k to make 6k. You’d either make $6k in a group or make a much higher commission like 6% of $1 million and deduct that $4k invested. Which is possible if you hustle. But all this for a beginner? Unlikely. Most start safe in a. Group selling higher volume cookie cutter homes, then might move to companies that sell less time a but higher end. Few are completely independent. Most start their own groups/business but have a partner.
