Thank you!! I love mini schnauzers. I use to have one.
Cash is doing pretty good right now but we are still dealing with broken brittle nails. Thank you for your comment. Happy Holiday’s!

I know this is all over now, but you can get these cushiony collars that you tie around the dog's neck. Much more user friendly than the cone. They're like those neck travel pillows.

Good to know. I haven’t seen them but definitely will get one if he needs a cone again. Thanks!

Hello. how is the dog? I would like to ask for help. Unfortunately, my schauczer's nails have started to split in two, almost all of them are hollow.
5 vets saw him, he removed the upper parts of the nails, but they didn't really say what was wrong. it's just that she was a sports dog, his nails were very long, runs on artificial grass, vitamin deficiency, and food changes. get omega oil, b vitamins, immune booster. but I don't know what else can be done to return to normal everyday life. or should I just wait until the nails grow nicely? thank you

Wow, poor guy. This seems highly unusual for Standards which tend to be a very healthy and disease-free breed. Mine lived almost 15 years but sadly succumbed to a stroke. I’d be curious what your breeder or someone involved with the Standard Schnauzer Club of America has to say about this condition.

I’m thinking it’s usual too. The research that I did before getting Cash said that standards are the healthiest of the breed. I’ll need to do more research and get it figured out.
The vet never gave a definite answer, we are just keeping an eye on his nails for now. Hoping this was just a weird thing that happened and everything will be fine.
      Thanks for your comment. 😀

Slowly seeing improvements on the two nails that were cut back. He has been back to the vet and all nails are affected. The last couple of days I can see that he is starting to feel a lot better. I will do an update soon. Thank you!
