Darth Revan Reveals The Rule of Two to Bane (DON'T GET CONFUSED)

- The first Darth Bane novel Path of Destruction, has a really intriguing entrance for Darth Revan, where Bane summons his old holocron and learns the Rule of Two who later passes it down to Palpatine through the grape vine. What do you think of this passage from the awesome novel by Drew Karpyshyn?

Confusing, isn't it xD
IKR!!!

Totally the intention, but YT is a tough place I don't blame SWTherory for click baiting. The content makes up for it

“The Banes: a Star Wars Story”
Darth Bane: I made the rule of two.
Cad Bane: sorry little lady, we’ll have to dance another time.
Bane: I was born in the darkness, molded by it…no one cared who I was till I put on the mask.
I wonder how they’d make it so Bane got to the Star Wars galaxy
Bane of the Sith; A Star Wars Story.
That’s what the mask is
Darth Bane was on a completely different level.
Not sure if Disney could do him justice..
Disney? Probably not. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni? Maybe.
He was. I always see him as like an OG Sith, bringing the Sith rules back to the bare foundation.
but they would have to nerf him
Darth Bane should plant the seed into Kathleen Kennedy to launch the Thought Bomb inside Lucasfilm
@@MattII33 I don’t think Filoni would do a good job since he would likely change it since George Lucas considered the EU non-canon and he learned a lot directly from George.
If you’ve read my books you’d understand this.
Yes you learned of the idea from Darth revans Holocron and put it into practice yourself
Darth Bane, despite gaining the knowledge from Darth revan, you are the one who brought the plan to fruition. You deserve all the credit
My job has be bouncing around between company's a lot. Tradition dictates that every new company I start at I listen to the Bane trilogy on audio book. I learn something new every time
Hey I think Tom Hardy should play you in live action, like he played the guy with your name in Dark Knight Rises.
@@chancekosinski8653 it’s rich with information.
Lol.. if Keanu made a copyright claim everytime his face is used next to the word REVAN he would be even more millionaire.
what if there is a revan series and keanu plays him!!!!!
@@designsinc it would be awesome, hands down.
@@infoluminux Nah, Keanu would be awesome as Revan but Disney would find a way to ruin it.
And he would Just donate it all
@@ihateeveryone8161 facts if there’s a Revan series or movie I want it as far away from Disney as possible
Always two there, no more, no less; a master and an apprentice.
One to embody the power the other to crave it
Yeah but then 100 differbent other dark force users that work for them.
Ironic... The Jedi Civil wars had sith academies with Sith Masters and apprectices.
@@aamirrazak3467 and in the darkness, bind them
Wait, wrong fandom
@@jakemac1396 but they are but kindergarten when compared to the apprentice of the master. And they are merely teased with fantasies to go die on a quest, maybe just to kill them for the darkside.
I wouldn’t say that Revan made the rule of two, as it was Bane who still developed the theory. I’d say that Revan laid out the groundwork for Bane to create the rule that would live generations.
Exactly, Revan had malak for an apprentice but he didn’t intend for him to replace him or betray him. Bane fully expected Zannah to do this and welcomed it as part of his new order.
@@AndreNitroX also i love reven but he was only a SITH for like 5 years ...even during his 300 years battle with the emperor he was keeping him from attacking the republic .....like this obession with Darth Reven is interesting since he was a great jedi as well
@@raymarshall7779 revan is a jack of all trades, and while he is a great character that i love, Darth Bane was a true sith lord.
I would say something similar to Geetsly: It goes all the back to the first Sith Empires: The Dark Lord and the Shadow Hand of the old Empire of Ajunta Pall and Sorzus Sun, Tulak Horde, Marka Ragnos, and Naga Sadow. The Empire of Exar Kuun and Ulic Qel Droma. The Empire of Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Even the Empire of Darth Vitiate. They always had two Sith Lords that stood above the rest. Even Vitiate had the Emperor’s Wrath as his right hand.
The Bane books were my first. They are something special to me.
I’m not kidding they are the books that got me into the EU and Star Wars in general.
I think we should get films about Revan first, and go into the brotherhood of darkness years later with the rise of Darth Bane and the rule of two. A trilogy of Revan films, and a trilogy of Darth Bane films. It would be the Rule of Two Saga
Six films is probably not even enough to tell their stories.
In a perfect world we would have gotten that
I think 2 movies with Revan would be cool with the third movie in the trilogy being about Bane continuing his legacy
I'm totally there..
@@jamesshelton1127 Honestly I'd even be down with that. This idea is obvious money for the company…an announcement alone would drive the internet mad.
They need to think like fans, i mean look at what Theory has created. I have always wanted to know what it would look like in live action of Vaders own personal story, and because of him and his team we get to imagine this.
Revan and the rise of Darth Bane would be incredible.
This story is still hands down one of my favorites in all of Star Wars. Bane was such an incredible character, and the ties back to KotoR was fantastic.
I like the constant use of Keanu's image as Revan. Hopefully Disney takes the hint and offers him a shitload of money and a good script.
It’s so easy but Disney is still so dumb
He’s already a different Sith Lord I believe so he can’t be revan
Given him a Shitload of money is easy on Disney’s part. Giving us a good script while respecting the lore is impossible on Disney’s part
Plagueis Novel and the Bane trilogy are also my favourites imagine the potential Disney would have, creating an adaptaion in form of a series
Yeah they both rock I don’t trust Disney to them justice though
i may cry if i ever hear its coming..for 2 reasons.. happiness..and fear knowing they will most likely ruin it smh
"And in the end, as the darkness takes me, I am nothing. Now I know what you meant, my friend"
-Lord Revan.
The fate of all the sith
I would love to see Bane's life story in Clone War animation. Seems like that would happen faster than live action.
I couldn’t agree more. While live action is great, animation has so much flexibility. To see banes story told in that medium would be a sight to behold
Yeeeeessss
That.. would be fucking amazing.
"Only a fool trains more than one apprentice in the ways of the darkside"
Darth Revan Dark Lord of the Sith
Darth Bane is my absolute favorite villain in Star Wars. He is a self made man, he became a Sith for many profound reasons, he wanted the true sith to return to power, he didn’t have a petty vendetta against the jedi but recognized they would always get in the way of the sith. He picks a tiny girl to be his apprentice based off of her force potential alone. He slowly constructed a spy network and began the siths slow rise to political power within the republic. Yes he died but because he wanted that. He only sought out immortality so he could live long enough to train a worthy apprentice, and to his surprise and pleasure, Zannah proved to be that worthy apprentice.
Exactly
I always thought the Brotherhood of Darkness was a mockery of the Jedi Order due to Kaan being a former member of the Jedi Order, my favorite version of the Sith Empire is the one during SWOTOR.
The brotherhood was like Dollar store sith, most of the members didn’t even know the reality of the dark side. Bane was the only one who even read the ancient texts and sought out knowledge beyond the classroom.
That was such a dope story line. The sith lord of the past taught the present sith lord about the true nature of the dark side. Revan was a legend who fell to the dark side due to the manipulation of an emperor. He redeemed himself in the end, but his holocron taught the sith lord who created the order that destroyed the republic. He ended up destroying so much of what his redemption protected. On the other hand, Bane was an irredeemable monster in the end. He learned under Revan, but ended up being pure evil at the end. He respected Revan’s power and achievements. However, he thought his redemption was weakness, so Bane sought to destroy any possible ties to good in his life. Jedi avoided attachments. Bane sought them out. He used them as a way to fuel his inner darkness, and then he sadistically destroyed them. Revan’s redemption actually subtly pushed Bane deeper into darkness. Revan’s connections to his lover and friends brought him to the light, but their legacy ended up causing Bane to corrupt or destroy anyone he was ever close to. Sorry for the rant. Bane is just my favorite star wars character ever.

He’s the one who can defeats mandalore the ultimate.
Yeah Revan defeated him in single combat to end the mandalorian wars, he was a true boss
Mandalore the ultimate was such a badass, I finally finished my cosplay of him on my channel
Bought all three audiobooks. Finished the first one last week and it was really good. Halfway though the second one
The second one is my favorite
I'm half way through the third book and it's amazing. I don't want it to end.
Sadly it does
Man the Darth Bane: Path of Destruction book (the first one) was absolutely great, it's a must read for any Star Wars fan. Now I've just got to get book two and read it!
Book 2 and 3 are just as good as the first one. My favorites next to the Plagueis novel!
@@mitchellhughes6397 Drew Karpyshyn is just a fantastic author, I've loved everything of his i've read
For me personally Revan is my favorite part of the old republic Era. He was for me what Luke was to you Theory. His story resonates well with me.
Congrats on hitting 3 mill theory I love your videos I hope you keep growing!
Love your videos man! So insightful and in depth. Best Star Wars lore page by far. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
I'm currently reading book #3 in the Bane trilogy. Definitely a must read
Legends intro animation was lit Thanks for the small details and love Theory
I just finished this book for the first time last night! I was so happy when this video popped up in my notifications
i love how Darth bane's thought bomb (and spirits trapped inside) became a main plot for star wars game with inquisitor jerec who wanted to find it and absorb it to become more powerful.
Back when Star Wars lore was rich
Thank you for this video! I really appreciate your work!
That transition to the legends text at the beginning was amazing. Darth revans legacy lived on long beyond his time inspiring bane to create his rule of two, which lead to the defeat of the Jedi and the Sith conquering the galaxy, at last having their revenge
Funny how all the sith have that affect on one another
That was awesome man...Loved it !!!!
One thing I find rather interesting is that, in Palpatine's opinion that was outlined in the Book of Sith, if any of the Sith or dark side individuals mentioned in the book were to ever meet, none would find any common ground. However, one thing that he seemingly completely overlooked were the very distinct similarities between Darths Bane and Malgus. For starters, they're both extremely cunning and powerful brutes on the battlefield, though Bane relies moreso on his cunning and his intellect in larger conflicts, while Malgus, even during all out brawls with hundreds of opponents, mainly relies on his raw power and brute strength, though he's still shown to be very cunning and intelligent during one-on-one duels. Second, both of them absolutely despise weaker Sith and anyone who did practically or absolutely nothing to earn their position, such as politicians within the old Sith Empire and others such as the weakest of the "Lords" that were sent to Ruusaan from the Korriban Academy. At times even the weakest of both eras would get more attention from the higher ups than those who actually did all the work, and both Darths in question *DESPISED" that. I also personally think that Malgus would more than likely see the obvious logic and reasoning behind Bane creating the Rule of Two, having been exhausted from all the backstabs and betrayals he's experienced and witnessed during his time with the Sith Empire, though he would've also probably called Bane out on his actions at Ruusaan and how he could've at the very least waited until all the Jedi on the ground had been killed off first and then had the fleet attack the Jedi reinforcements, thus having Kaan resort to the thought bomb anyways, accomplishing the same goal while setting the Jedi back for at least a few hundred years.
I agree
@@grandmoffgavin8895 lol, thanks even though I doubt many people read the whole thing
@@stevent3676 yeah it's a bit long. I'll admit the thought of Bane and Malgus interacting is fascinating. In a fight, I'm sure Bane would win since he's shown a lot more cunning and guile in combat, even when he had the Orbelisk armor. Malgus would've been a great apprentice to Bane, although I doubt he'd have the patience Zannah did, and would've probably been killed before Bane was as old as he was in his final years with Zannah
@@grandmoffgavin8895 honestly if they were to ever meet, both would have a problem with the idea of being the other's apprentice, but would respect each other enough to not want to fight since they'd probably agree on so much. Both understood that the Sith orders of old had many flaws, and sooner or later needed to be completely remade to solve these blatant issues that seriously impacted both of their lives.
@@grandmoffgavin8895 if Bane were to ever make even a single exception to the Rule of Two, it would be with Malgus, as he'd probably know that A: Malgus wouldn't even think to try any sort of deception or treachery, and if he really wanted power and/or Bane's title then he'd straight up just challenge Bane to a one-on-one fight instead of either waiting for him to die or through other means like poison or assassination, and B: contrary to most Sith, Malgus is honorable and almost always keeps his word, so there is literally no reason to worry about Malgus betraying or deceiving him, as again, if Malgus wants something done he'll literally just take the direct approach instead of making some devious or complicated plan.
Thank you for another great video. You definitely add a greater understanding of Star wars

Good timing. I've been reading this all week.
Love the books! Thanks for doing a video on them
I remember reading Path of Destruction on some crappy camping holiday years ago, 3 times in one week.
Love The Bane Trilogy 🔥 And having Darth Revan open Bane or then Darth Banes with that Sith Holocron was one of my favorite moment's Awesome video General Theory
Agreed. Revan really didn’t realize the power he had on other people
Very awesome video Theory. I know I was confused when I first read the Bane series. I definitely questioned it when I first read it, but the more I thought about it, the more I saw the formation of the Rule of Two by Bane.
you guys should try to get Drew Karpyshyn on rule of two that'd be amazing I was so psyced when I watched the Kevin J Anderson one I need them to sign my stuff that'd be awesome lol

It's an incredible novel. The Revan novel is my favorite book of all time and the Darth Bane novels are some of my favorites as well.
This video is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Bane and Plagues Novels my fave!!
Awesome video! I always pictured that Revan had the idea and blueprints but never made it a true rule while Bane with the knowledge given to him took the idea and blueprints and actually made it a thing or a rule. I don’t know that’s just how I viewed it.
Last time I was this early Luke Skywalker still had two hands
Sameeeee
Last time I was this early the Luke wasn’t even born yet
This is what Star Wars needs. They could make a trilogy of movies or a live series show about Bane. Those books were so well written and told such a good story that I feel like they should bring Drew in to consult new projects. He clearly understands how everything Star Wars works. The way he described the light saber battles is unlike any other book I had seen.
Your absolutely right. But I know we’ll never get our wish granted
Yo dudes! The Sith Order is pretty chill, maybe you could like join it or something!
only 30 seconds into the video and was excited to hear you appreciate these books as much as I do!
I want a Revan Show with Keanu Reeves as Revan starting in the mandalorian wars all the way to the end of KotOR and then a continuation from there that does him more justice than the book and SWTOR. All of that directed by Dave Filoni and the team behind KotOR
That’s all I’ve ever wanted.
Keanu is confirmed as a different sith already
Path of destruction is the best book in Star Wars change my

Yea change my mind too
My favorite books!!! You ever noticed they mention vaapad in the book instead of saying juyo?
It really was Bane's Rule of Two, Revan just helped Bane to understand the principles behind what Bane would eventually use to create the Ro2; the idea that the Dark Side isn't a flame to be shared with many, but venom that is more potent the less it's diluted.
Exactly Star Wars theory misinforms people with stupid videos like this. He makes people think revan made the rule of 2....
@@gbugsyhunt1921 chill man, everyone makes mistakes.
I know, while Star wats theory isn’t wrong he seems to be giving Revan all the credit. Sure Revan provided that tenant but it was already apart of sith philosophy. Besides banes implemented many changes to his order that made the 2 sith reliant on betrayal
@@grandmoffgavin8895 this is his job he should get it right, also every legends video he has is wrong so it not just one mistake. And people think that this is correct which it isn’t, and it just confuses the star wars community.

Incredible video detailing two of my favorite Star Wars characters! And yes, the Darth Bane book was excellent-as was Revan!
all 4 are so brilliant
Path of Destruction is by far my favorite Star Wars book. I’ve read it 5 or 6 times and I could start again tomorrow. Darth Bane is also my favorite Sith, his brutality is almost unmatched, minus Lord Vader. Glad to see some recognition.
That entire Darth Bane Trilogy is absosmurfinlutely amazing. And it was adapted into comic form??? I must find this.
The jedi vs sith comic covers the last chapters of the first bane book and the first chapters of the second. But sadly it ends with just bane finding Zannah as a little girl.
The Darth Bane Trilogy is one of my favourite Star Wars series. The raw power of Bane before he even travels to Korriban is just fascinating to read about and the fact he is more powerful than them all and they scoff at him just adds so much to the appeal of his character. He is calculating even with that raw power. He uses his mind as well as his strength.
Such a good character and so well written
He is such a fascinating anti villain, he’s not good in any way but he’s a self made man who triumphs above all ridicule and hardship. And you gotta respect that
The Bane trilogy is my absolute favorite books of Star Wars. So well written and the audiobook is even better!!!!

Full Potential Anakin would be above Legends Luke. In legends Luke practically reached Anakin’s Full Potential by the time he was a Grandmaster but had Anakin not been injured he would have become the strongest Force User to ever exist.
I’m currently listening to Dynasty of Evil on Audible. Path of Destruction was amazing and so was Plagues. They’re my two top books as well.
I read this book about a month ago for the first time just having that interest in “BANE” ,by far one of my most favorite books I’ve ever read not just among the Star Wars series purchased best books!
I was really hoping that 'The Acolyte' was about Zannah... but I doubt it considering the latest news.
We share the same mind, of all the female sith, Zannah deserves more recognition, it would have been amazing if the show was about her and Bane
I’ve heard the audiobook 3 times- it’s a must
Love the Legends intro always thought it was dope ass hell. This Interests me bc of the fact the Bane got the idea from Revan and then it went on the ages to come. Or at least until Vader comes in the picture

I’ve read the Bane series multiple times and they are by far the best Star Wars novels written. They would be the perfect base for a movie or series, only if they were more adult oriented.
I agree 100%, not only would this story get more adults to take Star Wars seriously again I feel like without any prior knowledge of Star Wars you can get into this story quite well.
My favorite part of of these books is when Kas'im reveals the weaknesses of the double-bladed lightsaber design. I haven't looked at Maul the same since. Such an impractical lightsaber design when it's inherent flaws were revealed. Such a "Martha" moment for me - like, it seems so crystal clear, in hindsight I'm kinda embarrassed I didn't pick up on it. Such a great novel. Yeah PoD is def top 5 SW Legends for me.
