The moment you go through your childhood collection (and buying new cards) instantly makes you a child again. That’s the allure, the romantic part about collecting. The reason why I collect today after all these years.
My dad used to bring me to card shows and stay in the car. He would have flashbacks like a Vietnam vet seeing all the Mantle and Aaron cards his mom threw out.
Of all the cards I see, you start with putting Tony fernandez on top. he just passed away a few days ago. he was a great player for the Jays in the 80's. Part of the big trade with McGriff to get Alomar and Carter.
Those are very nice cards from your childhood. The surprises were the 70's cards especially the Carlton Fisk. Where was the sleeve(lol). I'm sure you can protect it anytime. I also enjoyed the 1995 Bowman cards. I bought very few 1995 baseball packs due to me being in college and at that time lost interest in the hobby. I was more focused with school and meeting people.
In high school I use to go to card shows, buy all the cool inserts and rookies of top players that my friends like and sell to them with a little mark up
My favorite quote about Ozzie Smith came from Cardinals Manager Whitey Herzog. When asked how he could justify keeping Ozzie Smith in the lineup due to his continued poor plate performance, Herzog replied "Because he saves me 100 runs a year". Ozzie had the intangibles.
We lived in a apparment that got flooded when I was younger and I lost all my childhood cards so recently I've started over. It drives me nuts because I have no clue what I had. I could of had a super rare/expensive card. Probably not because when I was real young the neighborhood bully who was much older would take my good cards and give me his trash cards. But I still collected when we moved. Sorry for the rant. This video just brought major memories back.
I have two Matt Williams 1991 Donruss Elite series cards. I pulled them back then from a few boxes I got for my birthday. I'd love the Ryne Sandberg Auto
One of my favorite balls last season came from Bartolo. He told me no all season, but one day in BP he was engaged in conversation facing away from the plate and I called out a Heads Up to them when a ball came and landed about 3 feet from him. A few minutes later he threw me one in the 2nd deck.
A nostalgic look back on to 1995 ! That only becomes humorous to someone like myself who is over 70 years old of age. In another 30-40 years you will appreciate the humor.
I wish I still had my collection from my childhood. They got ruined while I was in college. I have been buying packs and cards from my childhood. Brings back so many memories.
Erik, don't put out vids when I'm supposed to be working. Haha. Your time card and ID remind me of something I found a few days ago in a stack of thrift store cards. It's a 20th anniversary ticket from our transit system "BART", from 1992 with 20 cents left on it. Pretty cool.
That was cool. What a blast from the past. I was out of the hobby by the time you git most of those cards. So it was nice to see what i missed back then.
Awesome video thank you! I just recently did this with my baseball cards from when I was a kid. I decided to start rebuilding my Gary Carter collection. Thank you!
C'mon Jabs - Brien Taylor wasn't "a bust" - the guy stopped a bar fight and got his shoulder destroyed by a wooden stool. He was the consensus top player - can't miss prospect - for 3 years in a row. He attempted to come back but couldn't pitch at all. And I believe he was the first 1M signing bonus? Anyhow - love the content.

I would have flipped out if I pulled that Mcgriff. He and Joe Carter were my favorite players as a kid.
A nice trip down memory lane. 😊
Awesome video thank you! I just recently did this with my baseball cards from when I was a kid. I decided to start rebuilding my Gary Carter collection. Thank you!
I too used to put prices on the card sleeves when I was a kid based on Beckett price guide. Ha, I doubt I was right on any of them being worth a lot
I think Jorge Posada was in the 94 Bowman set if I’m not mistaken.
I wish I could see a box of mixed cards that can include 50s,60s,and 70s cards as well!🥴
Love those mid 90s cards. Would love to see some for a TBT
