I’m currently going to a community college (non- HBCU) and am looking into attending a HBCU as a non-traditional, non-black, white student. I have noticed over the years, especially when discussing racism with non- white friends that I do, in FACT, have white privilege. I have come in contact with many racially motivated white people and it has always been disgusting to me. Thankfully, my family has broken out against the prejudices against poc (people of color) that they have been taught or seen in white communities. I live in a very conservative area in Florida and when the Black Lives Matter movement had taken a stronger presence in 2020, it was shocking to see the ignorance of white people and their prejudices against poc, especially black individuals because I do not share those opinions. Because of that disgust and hatred I had (and still have) towards the racism inflicted upon minorities, I decided to attend the local protest, and advocate for the movement. Personally, as a white female I feel it is my personal duty to educate myself on the history of black culture, black struggle, and black experiences. With that desire of education on black culture and experiences, no part of me wants to allow racism to have any room in me and my future families, and generations lives. Part of me recognizes how my presence at an HBCU could make another traditional student feel uncomfortable, but I feel as if I can make a change in my life and future children’s, my friends, my co-workers and strangers who face the option to not even recognize their privilege, lives by recognizing my privilege and delving into the depths of black culture, black struggle and black voices- with hopes to make a change in this world. If there is any open, and non-dissonant discussion that is desired by anyone of any background and race, I am all ears to hear any opinions and knowledge! Thank you for taking the time to read my comment, as it was my pleasure to share an open opinion. ❤️

His family and neighbors had him frightened because they had sensationalized what to expect. For days all he heard was "the n-words are coming." When they arrived, he was absolutely appalled at the behavior of his family and friends. MLK and the people marching were peaceful, singing and not disrespecting anyone. It was his neighbors and family that were shouting obscenities, attacking etc.
It always amazed me how a group could be so heavily influenced that it blinds them to their own behaviors.

Its good to be welcoming im black and alot can be ignorant and hostile to other races at time. But the ones who have God will be welcoming and not sneer. I personally cant be in an evironment like that cuz its ignorance.
