I have the 2022 2500 HD Custom with 6.6L gas, and a we have a 2020 truck with the 6.6L diesel. It's a company truck and it's hauling 20-24ft trailers. Because when a diesel breaks, IT BREAKS!
Thank you JB for doing this video. I have 2020 regular bed same 6.6 gas motor and it is amazing. Finally someone has given this motor some justice it pulls great for a gas motor. I'm pulling a 27 foot camper around 6500 lbs empty. Loaded with family and camper gear it's a perfect match. Had a half ton that struggled pulling . Look forward to more videos on the 6.6 gas motor . I realize this doesn't compare to a diesel but for a gas motor it's pretty amazing.
I have a 2020 with the 6.6 gas , and I have owned a 2018 Duramax , and I cant tell no difference. the 6.6 gas , is fine for pulling, think of it this way, in the 70's 80's and 90's we pulled the same weight with old 454 boat anchor engines. I will not waste my money for the diesel again. plus my Dooley empty gets 16.8 mpg with me driving 68 mph. my Duramax would only get 18 MPG. AND IT SUXED 9-12 PULLING A TRAILER. The 6.6 gas will 9-12 with a trailer as well. but it is 10k cheaper.
I pull trailers daily. I wouldn't run more than 70 pulling a trailer of any weight. I typically run 65 and stay in the slow lane. You can have a million horsepower put it doesn't stop any better than 100 horsepower.
Yeah I saw someone running close to 80 in a 65 towing a large john deere tractor in the rain. Either he drives that fast often or he needed to find a bathroom cause he was rolling. His trailer was fish tailing too.
Hints why it's a horrible idea to pull 1/2 trucks with overweight trailers. 1/2 tons can pull much more then rated for. Stopping the thing in emergency situations is risky business. Great comment man.
First time seeing one of your videos. This is THE best / most thorough truck / towing review I have seen, and I watch a lot of truck reviews. I always wished someone would show the kind of detail you go into! Nice job! Subscribing for sure!
Very well done review! I just bought a 2021 GMC HD and LOVE it!! The 6.6 gas has a lot more power than my 2015 6.0. While I wish GM did add the 10 spd, at least I know the 6 spd is damn near bulletproof.

I think the IFS is far superior to solid axle. Solid axle is 100 year old tech. When you hit a bump the whole truck rolls side to side. Ill take IFS anyday!
Great video. When I was shopping for the 2021 2500 hd your video was a big help. I know you covered the 2020. Out of all the truck vides I seen, I enjoyed your video the best man. Even tho I have a new truck I'm looking forward to new reviews.
I Own This Truck & Boy This Truck Is For Grown Men Only. Lots Of Power & Many Usable Features. People That Speak Bad On It Don't Own One Or Can't Even Come Close To Paying Or Buying One. So Take It From The Big Boss Because SCARED MONEY DON'T MAKE MONEY 😎
Everyone knocking the 6 speed. 6 speed is a proven transmission that will easily go 200k+ with proper maintenance. 10 speed performs better but long term people will be wishing they kept there 6 speed.
Ford hit a home run on their Godzilla 7.3, it is a very strong engine and can handle so much hp (1,400 from what I last heard). Not that it's "Better" or "Worse". I look at it like 'The Big-3' are kicking Ass in their own way. Great that they're keeping the ole' V-8s alive.
Solid video 👍. People hate on the interior but I like it. Not that it’s basic but it’s just a simpler approach to the interior, camera resolution is top notch.
Agree....function and really what do you need in a vehicle when you have a phone and iPad next to you anyways....ease of use, clear, responsive and most of all no headaches!.....think all of em have plenty wish GM would do a info upgrade like ram does for any trim level.....but afterall it's just a car not your home
@gregory debroka I'd say go for it, dude! I've got a 2021 2500 Custom 6.6L gasser. I got it in November. It's an absolute joy! 6.1k miles already. It's got a 36 gallon fuel tank. My drives to work are about 45 miles there and back home every day. So I spend about 60-70 bucks on fuel every week. It only gets 1 MPG less than my 2007 5.3L half ton. I got 16 in the half ton, and i'm getting 15 in this 6.6L gasser. It's got no AFM cylinder deactivation crap on it, and no fancy 8,9,10 spd transmission. It's got the same old tried and true 6L90E which has always been extremely reliable. It shifts great. Even though it's a 3/4 ton, it still rides WAY more comfortably than my 2007 half ton. So far I haven't had any issues yet.
I bought the same but LT 2020 6.6 gasser 3 months ago and already put 25k on it. Its got good power! Way better than my previous 2015 1500 5.3 I had and put 340K on it. Very satisfied!
Im still rolling the 2004 2500hd 8.1/allison best truck ive ever had. Love to see an honest comparison of these two... i still think the 8.1 low rpm torque will not be beaten
I have one of these trucks. Pulling a 9000 pound toy hauler camper when loaded. Pulls it way better than the half ton it replaces. I just don’t need the diesel and ten speed transmission! If my camper would weigh 14,000 pounds, I would of bought the diesel. I bought a great truck for a much better price than the diesel, that I don’t need. Thanks for the good video!
Bro, are you a salesman? Because I drive a '19 L5P, and you got me thinking about a gasser, ha ha! Seriously, a good review. As always, you got a good camera and a good microphone so we can hear the engine and see the gauges. Agreed on the long bed. Hard to beat the stability and ride, and being able to haul more stuff is a plus, too.
An 8-speed really would be a great option, but also, they’ve been using that 6-speed for years and it’s very reliable. I can live with sacrificing a little performance for proven reliability. I can’t wait to buy mine in a few months. Hoping that they will have some good year end discounts. God bless you and great review 👍 Already thinking about an engine tune and the add-a-leaf spring on the rear suspension. These seem to be common concerns, but at least there are cheap options to address these issues. We’ll see how she tows my trailer and gear first.
You won’t be disappointed. I finally got mine in last week. Unfortunately I had to compromise so luxury options I would’ve preferred because GM has put restrictions on packages. I went with the 2500 HD AT4 6.6 gasser. Couldn’t be more happy. According to the manager that has always been honest with me in past dealings there will likely not be many rebates or deals for at least 6-8 months, and restrictions will probably go on for at least that long. You might want to put an order in for one if you want something specific, but even with orders you won’t get it like you want until the restrictions are lifted you’ll just be ahead of the rest of the pack to get yours. Another option is to do like I plan. Get a truck now, and take advantage of the great trade-in offers later when more options become available. The used car market will be in high demand much longer than the chip shortage. Best of luck, and God bless you.
I have the 2020 Gmc Denali 6.6 gas. Love this truck. I have a travel trailer fully loaded 8500lbs. I do use a weight distribution hitch but I use it as it has a built in anti sway system. The truck drives very comfortable especially over Dodge and Ford. Something missed in review was turning radius, GMC doesn’t require a football field to turn around. I daily drive mine because of this. As far as the infotainment system it just works. I’m not sure on this trim level when you change lanes the screen will show the camera view of that lane. Great review, thank you.
They co-designed a 10 speed a while back. The 6 speed decision for this truck doesn’t make much sense because they knew Ford was coming out with a bigger motor and 10 speed for the SuperDuty. www.autoinfluence.com/11-things-you-need-to-know-about-ford-gms-10-speed-transmission/
@@JB_WhoWork If that's a fact then the idiots at GM need to realize what the competition is offering. Ford with a 7.3 and 10 spd is a potent combo. The 6.4 Ram with an 8 spd isn't bad either. To offer a new engine then handicap it with 3.73 gears and a 6spd so that it hardly outperforms the outgoing 6.0 is purely moronic.
Good review! Straight to the point, didn't miss too many details, and very informative. Let's cross our fingers that Chevy puts that 10 speed in the 6.6 gasser in 2022👍🏻
I bought a 2020 2500hd last July and love it. Had a 2014 Chevy 2500 before it and its night and day difference. I believe the 2020 also weighs like 1800lbs more with a bigger cab n longer wheel base.
My 2020 GMC Duramax shows trans temp and fuel mileage on the 8 inch screen when you set up the trl info and tracks it every time you hook up. The 10 speed transmission is awesome also.
A good friend has an almost identical setup gas long bed and all in a 2020 Sierra. I have rode in it empty but it feels really solid and has great power. He is really happy with his and being a GMC it’s only mildly ugly, not hideous like the Chevy lol.
I wonder if ram will take the aluminum hellephant hemi engine, remove the supercharger, tune the engine for truck duty to the tune of 472 hp 565 lb tq. That will change the big gas engine game
This was a great review brother! I’m so happy to see a 6.6 gasser. I’m almost positive now I’ll end up with my first ever Chevy. The 3500 6.6 gas dually with the 8 foot bed. The truck campers I’m looking at will be under 4K pounds loaded, so the dually gasser would be plenty of truck for it. This video just confirms some things for me. Because I really don’t want to buy a diesel 🤣 brilliant review brougham 👍🏾
Did anyone else notice the shifts when he was doing the hard acceleration? It almost seemed like the clutches were slipping. The transmission would shift, set the low rpm, climb rpm just for a split second then you can hear the engine lower rpm for about that same amount of time, then it would raise rpm again and go through the gear.
Thank you! I'd like to understand more about the trailer gain adjustment and manual assist know that you squeeze together. Also, go over the Trailer mode vs. Manual shifting. Please?
Excellent review! I just picked one up in the AT4 trim this past week. Love it so far. PSA for anyone interested GM as well as other manufacturers have recently placed restrictions on certain packages, and options due to chip shortages etc… So if you want one with censors, and other luxury options you’ll have to wait possibly a year according to the many GM managers I spoke with. The truck is amazing even if it doesn’t tell me when I need to stop haha.
Hi Budget is 47-48k. I'm hauling a 8.5 x 20 enclosed trailer carrying 3 race bikes. I want power but most of all stability? close to signing a deal for a 2021 silverado 2500 custom. any thoughts
Last year I wanted to reset out this exact trim and truck option compared to my 2018 hd LTZ with the duramax. Drove the gasser around for 15 minutes asked for my keys back. It was a total slug going up a rolling hill in virginia, and just felt anemic. Thought about going from duramax to gas. But after that lackluster exp, ill stick with diesile from now until I lose interest in hd trucks
I found it odd that they called it an Allison transmission since it isn't actually manufactured by Allison, it's only tested by them. To get the Allison manufactured automatic, you need to step up to the 4500+ trucks.
Very good detail on the review. I’ve been considering that new gas engine since I have to have a car and truck with my 2011 Duramax would be beat up from my short commute to work. I need to tow too. Anyway, great detail and video. Thanks
I'm torn between one of these or a ram 2500 with the 6.4 hemi. Which one do you prefer to tow with? Zf8 in the ram vs the 6l90 in the GM....ifs vs sa and rear coils vs leafs. The trucks are two totally different trucks. I wish dealerships would let me test drive both with a trailer lol. I'd be grateful for your honest input, and you can be biased if you want to
Honestly go with the one you feel right at home with, I would hate to have both trucks in front of me to purchase because they both have strengths and weaknesses. Love the 8 speed in the RAM and the fact you can get a 4.10 rear however the MDS is a reliability issue… The GM 6.6L doesn’t have cylinder deactivation and I believe it’s a pushrod design and the fact that the 6 speed will most likely be reliable, this would push me to go for the GM. I do wish it had 2 more gears, this would be the clear winner 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork a lot of my clients have 6.4 hemis. But they're the older 6 speeds. Somewhere between 90-120k miles they all need cam and lifters. Every single one, and that's about 12 trucks total between the 2 companies I service. I have driven the 2019+ with the 8 speed, and love that trans. The MDS scares me tho out of warranty, but the coils rode really good in the rear, not sure how they'll do with a load tho. I'm also a fan of straight axle over IFS. I've mostly owned GM trucks...not because they're my preference, but because I can usually get good deals on them, and parts are abundant and cheap. I've had plenty of 6.0s with the dame 6l90, and to me it's just a "meh" trans. They're usually good for 150k miles, but they're the weak point in GM trucks, and not nearly as stout and reliable as everyone makes them out to be. But they've been around and every shop and build one fairly cheap with a quick turnaround time compared to other trucks. I'm willing to spend $2,500-$3k every 5 years or so for a trans. I also find the ram seats to be more comfortable, but the GM trucks just sit right to me with the way the steering wheel sits and all. It's a hard choice. I've heard some ppl say the ram pulls harder and some ppl day the 6.6 pulls better than the 6.4s with the 8 speed.
Great review bud..I LOVE my 2020 3500 cab and chassis gasser..I tow 10,000 almost everyday and it's a beast...Waay better than my 15 cab and chassis with 6.0..I'm very happy with it...everything but ior radio
Looking at new HD pickups. Want a diesel so bad but...to damn expensive. Just ridiculous if you can't utilize it all the time to justify the cost. Found two new GM HD's close to me to check out. And I can option them up more with the savings of going gas instead of diesel. Glad I went back and checked your video out again.
I just use a 7/4 adapter on my 98 Suburban. It works fine. The only 4-pin connection I ever use is a rental utility trailer. The mirrors are a plus. I have a similar set and I love the backup light feature, and mine also have the turn signal LED's.
@@JB_WhoWork so between the gmc 2500 gas and ram 2500 hemi, which one would give better mpg, considering that gmc gets 87 octane and ram gets 91 premium gas. Mpg and cost. I really like the gmc easy bed access vs ram as well.
It’s a toss up if you get the RAM with a 4.10 but a 3.73 rear end on the RAM with the 8 speed should keep RPM’s low enough to get better fuel mileage. Either way you are probably gonna average 12-13 MPG if you’re driving 50/50 Hwy and city from both of them but mostly Hwy driving will be in favor of the RAM.
GM really needs to use a newer 10 speed with this engine to keep it relative with the competition. The L8T should have a lot of potential. It's basically just a GEN5 LT based 6.2L with a little longer stroke, lower compression, iron block, no AFM/DFM crap, and no engine start/stop crap either. Even if the Allison 10 speed costs more than GM wants to spend for this engine the automatic Camaro ZL1 uses the 10L90 which is a beefed up version of the 10L80 used in the other 10 speed GM 1/2 ton trucks, SUV's and cars. The 80 and 90 #'s are torque ratings that the trans is rated to support. The 10L90 is a very good and strong transmission that might be up to the task of handling what this truck is rated to do.
I'm divided on the 6-speed versus 10-speed. The 6-speed is proven but this gasser with a 10-speed would be quicker and likely a better performer all around. Maybe GM could keep the 6-speed as standard equipment but offer the 10-speed used on the Duramax as an option? That 10-speed seems well sorted and would certainly be strong enough.
I appreciate the work involved in putting together these reviews. Although a lot of these have 4x4 and I realize you're focused on towing it would be nice to get comments from their owners on how they ride and perform on bumpy dirt roads. Thanks man
In time I can probably find some trails big enough for my truck but I would have to find viewers trucks to take off road since dealers won’t appreciate me doing that. Thanks 👍🏾
I had the 2020 2500 6.6 gas and it was great truck...needs a 10 spd but I just didn't need that much truck.....think GM Has refined the ride quality in HD the best and while maybe not best interior its functional...and I like physical buttons still...their diesel with 10 spd is probably best in class and overall just a solid truck.....they all have their faults but reliability, resale, durability, functionality and ease of use are top priority....miss my 2500 a bit but just didn't use it to its capacity and Carvana paid "too well"
I wish GM would put the 10spd in to fill in some of the gaps on WOT. The engine would not have to be wound out as much with a few more gears. I noticed a tremendous difference in that with the Ram 6.4 w/ ZF and 3.73s. Totally different truck. That said, I still don't believe the GMs deserve as much flack as the get, powertrain wise. Sure the Ford 7.3 is the current gasser champ, and the Ram 6.4 is a true workhorse now, but the new 6.6 was designed for heavy work.
Ive had one as my new utility truck since February, and i really have no complaints other than the trans having rough downshifting to 1st when coming to a stop
A great video to see the updates from the 2015's & the big small block's performance. Am curious how an older big block would do & if would be able to do a test with an 8.1L vortec. Keep up the great work
Oh man! That black long bed looks great in front of your black trailer! Shew. You’re making it rough on me buddy! That’s basically what I’d look like going down the road if i had a black truck! Nice review man. Looks like there is a significant difference between the old 6.0 vs this 6.6. I love my Duramax and the 10 speed is for real but I’d be tempted to save $10,000 if they would offer the 10 speed in this particular truck.
Haha! I was thinking about you sense we have the same trailer! Not gonna lie, my next truck might be dark like me lol!!! This thing had power just about everywhere but it lacked the gearing that Ford/RAM give you in axle/more gears... hopefully they fix this sooner than later, thanks bro 👍🏾
😂😂 I like the Carhart package on the 2021s. But black is so hard to keep up lol. It does look great though. White has its flaws too. They show every spec of everything you pick up from the road. Red is my personal favorite.
gm interior is simpler than the rest but everything falls to hand like it should. i cannot say that for my 19 F150 and TBH i don't see a huge difference between the GM and Ford interior prior to 21, Ram left them both behind.
@@JB_WhoWork awesome thanks man. So I’m looking at a truck like this one or a Ram 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi and the 4.10s. Possibly putting a leveling kit and 35s on either. In your opinion which truck do you think would handle a TT with a GVWR of 10K better?
Either one will get the job done, go with which one you feel most comfortable with. On a side note, GM doesn’t have cylinder deactivation and this seems to be a problem in some trucks that use it 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork ok thanks for the reply man I really like both trucks. But am leaning more towards the Chevy. But really considering on waiting on the new Cummins 6.7 gas in a Ram 2500 when it comes available. We will see.
Bought a 2020 Crew Cab 2500HD loved it but will trade back to a regular bed in 2022...I find it too hard to get thru curved drivethrus, turn arounds and too long in tight parking areas..also will wait for the 10 speed tranny
Looks like the truck did well. The Ford Gas 7.3 will probably make this truck feel slow. Looking forward to your Ford test and also a Gas Titan XD with the 9 speed.
Nice review I got one in June of 2020. I’ve always had diesels. But I can’t do modern diesels because of cost from purchase and then the emissions and The emissions not only just drive purchase cost up but come with massive repair Bills as well I’d say this truck is where diesels were at 15-20 years ago in terms of trailering capabilities I was pleasantly surprised and don’t Regret going with this motor. I’m sure the Ford Godzilla 7.3 would be a great option as well. I’m ready for these manufacturers to start giving us diesel alternatives

Can you get this engine in the GMC denali
Great video. When I was shopping for the 2021 2500 hd your video was a big help. I know you covered the 2020. Out of all the truck vides I seen, I enjoyed your video the best man. Even tho I have a new truck I'm looking forward to new reviews.
Thanks Travis 🙏🏽
I Own This Truck & Boy This Truck Is For Grown Men Only. Lots Of Power & Many Usable Features. People That Speak Bad On It Don't Own One Or Can't Even Come Close To Paying Or Buying One. So Take It From The Big Boss Because SCARED MONEY DON'T MAKE MONEY 😎
Put bilsteins on that truck immediately, It’s embarrassing GM still uses them 33$ rancho shocks. It will be a totally different truck
Everyone knocking the 6 speed. 6 speed is a proven transmission that will easily go 200k+ with proper maintenance. 10 speed performs better but long term people will be wishing they kept there 6 speed.
Good point, I guess I don’t keep anything long enough to find out what happens 😆
I have friends that have Rams and from 07 on they pretty much all been lemons
Ram not even close to is reliable as a 6.0 with the 6 speed
Good review. You actually towed with the vehicle. Most reviews just show how nice the paint job is and call it quits lol.
Thanks lol!
Excellent as always JB
What’s up Hiden! Thanks for watching 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork 😆
Solid video 👍. People hate on the interior but I like it. Not that it’s basic but it’s just a simpler approach to the interior, camera resolution is top notch.
Agree....function and really what do you need in a vehicle when you have a phone and iPad next to you anyways....ease of use, clear, responsive and most of all no headaches!.....think all of em have plenty wish GM would do a info upgrade like ram does for any trim level.....but afterall it's just a car not your home
@riding with Russo thanks 👍🏾
1 horsepower per cubic inch . Yes this engine is 401 cubic inches .
I'm planning on buying on and this will help me decide if I'm going too. Thank you for the video!
Bet thanks man
Awesome, good luck 👍🏾
I bought the same but LT 2020 6.6 gasser 3 months ago and already put 25k on it. Its got good power! Way better than my previous 2015 1500 5.3 I had and put 340K on it. Very satisfied!
@@Deleteguest ditto my friend! I enjoy mine too and same results compared to my 2015 1500 5.3
Im still rolling the 2004 2500hd 8.1/allison best truck ive ever had. Love to see an honest comparison of these two... i still think the 8.1 low rpm torque will not be beaten
You live close to MD?
@@JB_WhoWork no in ohio lol but i would be down for a test if i was
I have a 3500 dually 8.1 and I just got a 2022 6.6 gas the 6.6 is far superior
Add an air intake system, for just a little bit more power.
Good stuff, thanks for sharing 👍🏾
Bro, are you a salesman? Because I drive a '19 L5P, and you got me thinking about a gasser, ha ha! Seriously, a good review. As always, you got a good camera and a good microphone so we can hear the engine and see the gauges. Agreed on the long bed. Hard to beat the stability and ride, and being able to haul more stuff is a plus, too.
I’m not but used to be, thanks for sharing 👍🏾
An 8-speed really would be a great option, but also, they’ve been using that 6-speed for years and it’s very reliable. I can live with sacrificing a little performance for proven reliability. I can’t wait to buy mine in a few months. Hoping that they will have some good year end discounts. God bless you and great review 👍 Already thinking about an engine tune and the add-a-leaf spring on the rear suspension. These seem to be common concerns, but at least there are cheap options to address these issues. We’ll see how she tows my trailer and gear first.
Thank you, God bless you as well 👍🏾
You won’t be disappointed.
Good year end discounts, they cant even get trucks on the lots and are 5k over MSRP
Correction...I meant wait for the 2023
If you skip the extra trailer camera option you will get a 4 pin connector.
Thanks for the info 👍🏾
I have the 2020 Gmc Denali 6.6 gas. Love this truck. I have a travel trailer fully loaded 8500lbs. I do use a weight distribution hitch but I use it as it has a built in anti sway system. The truck drives very comfortable especially over Dodge and Ford. Something missed in review was turning radius, GMC doesn’t require a football field to turn around. I daily drive mine because of this. As far as the infotainment system it just works. I’m not sure on this trim level when you change lanes the screen will show the camera view of that lane.
Great review, thank you.
Thanks for sharing this Tim, I never think to test turning radius 👍🏾
Great review as always that new 6.6 gas is much better then the old 6.0 gas
Thanks Paul and I can confirm it’s miles better! I wish I could have taken it on the same road but I’m sure more will pop up!
Not sure about that!!! 6.0 is badass
Everybody wants the 10 speed transmission, gm/chevy having alot of problems with the 10 speeds in the 1500.
@HalfShell that 10 speed transmission is a joint venture with GM and ford.
I’m a fan of both gm and Ford, but when I saw joint venture, I was like nah I’ll pass
Awesome video! Can’t wait to see the Ram 6.4 with the 3.73 8 speed.
Thanks Bro! Looking forward to finding one too 👍🏾
I’ve got one and I’m local, let me know if that helps!
Send me your email!
@@JB_WhoWork i have a 21 Ram 2500 6.4 3.73 Big Horn Short Bed
I don’t understand why they didn’t give this new engine the 10 speed. Would have let the engine stay in optimal power band.
I think Chevy didn’t want to compete with the diesel/Allison and they didn’t want to build a new tranny...
They co-designed a 10 speed a while back. The 6 speed decision for this truck doesn’t make much sense because they knew Ford was coming out with a bigger motor and 10 speed for the SuperDuty.
www.autoinfluence.com/11-things-you-need-to-know-about-ford-gms-10-speed-transmission/
JB you have awesome reviews and this is a great channel. Thank you for all your work.
Thanks Andrew, appreciate the feedback 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork If that's a fact then the idiots at GM need to realize what the competition is offering. Ford with a 7.3 and 10 spd is a potent combo. The 6.4 Ram with an 8 spd isn't bad either. To offer a new engine then handicap it with 3.73 gears and a 6spd so that it hardly outperforms the outgoing 6.0 is purely moronic.
I think “shitty” has 2 t’s 😆
Good review! Straight to the point, didn't miss too many details, and very informative. Let's cross our fingers that Chevy puts that 10 speed in the 6.6 gasser in 2022👍🏻
Thanks Danny!
No, the 6 speed is proven to be long lasting that 10 speed isn’t, the 6 speed is great and does the job of what it’s supposed to.
Your exactly right about long wheel base trucks pulling trailers better.
I bought a 2020 2500hd last July and love it. Had a 2014 Chevy 2500 before it and its night and day difference. I believe the 2020 also weighs like 1800lbs more with a bigger cab n longer wheel base.
You are correct, thanks for sharing 👍🏾
My 2020 GMC Duramax shows trans temp and fuel mileage on the 8 inch screen when you set up the trl info and tracks it every time you hook up. The 10 speed transmission is awesome also.
Thanks, I can’t wait to test one! Hopefully I will get footage soon 👍🏾
A good friend has an almost identical setup gas long bed and all in a 2020 Sierra. I have rode in it empty but it feels really solid and has great power. He is really happy with his and being a GMC it’s only mildly ugly, not hideous like the Chevy lol.
😂😂😂 I’m sure he doesn’t appreciate the ugly truck comments 🤣! I see Chevy is already giving the Silverado 1500 a face lift soon 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork I hope he sees this lol! I'm sure he'll get me back!
😂🤣😂
I wonder if ram will take the aluminum hellephant hemi engine, remove the supercharger, tune the engine for truck duty to the tune of 472 hp 565 lb tq. That will change the big gas engine game
Good stuff! Do you think they should add more displacement?
@@JB_WhoWork it makes sense for trucks and since all their engines and tech are based off of 2010
This was a great review brother!
Ditto ALL OF THIS! 👍🏼
Thanks bro! I was extremely happy with the performance of this rig and as you saw, it has plenty of power pulling my almost 10k trailer even up grades
Good review - the new trucks are crazy good.
Thanks Jeffrey 👍🏾👍🏾
It's a cow. The ram power wagon with the 6.4 would eat it alive. The 6.0 chevy had was bullet proof.
Can pull 30.000 pounds like i do with my Ram 5500 4:10 ratio? I need to know because I hate def on mine
Only thing that can pull that much weight is diesels, gas currently can’t pull that heavy even in a c/c 👍🏾
Delete your ram and enjoy more mpg and more power.
just bought one, 6k on it ,pull trailers , love it
Very impressive truck. Really good review
Thanks Greg!
Isn’t the tow/haul mode selector the button on the end of the shift lever?
I just realized GM changed it to the rotary dial to the left of the steering wheel. Good review of a great truck.
Hi Budget is 47-48k. I'm hauling a 8.5 x 20 enclosed trailer carrying 3 race bikes. I want power but most of all stability? close to signing a deal for a 2021 silverado 2500 custom. any thoughts
Go for it, a 2599 gas or diesel will get the job done 👍🏾
Last year I wanted to reset out this exact trim and truck option compared to my 2018 hd LTZ with the duramax. Drove the gasser around for 15 minutes asked for my keys back. It was a total slug going up a rolling hill in virginia, and just felt anemic. Thought about going from duramax to gas. But after that lackluster exp, ill stick with diesile from now until I lose interest in hd trucks
The truck has power but a 10 speed probably would have helped especially if you had a 4.10 rear. Diesel is still the viable option 👍🏾
Thanks
Thanks for your feedback bro 👍🏾
I'm torn between one of these or a ram 2500 with the 6.4 hemi. Which one do you prefer to tow with? Zf8 in the ram vs the 6l90 in the GM....ifs vs sa and rear coils vs leafs. The trucks are two totally different trucks. I wish dealerships would let me test drive both with a trailer lol. I'd be grateful for your honest input, and you can be biased if you want to
Honestly go with the one you feel right at home with, I would hate to have both trucks in front of me to purchase because they both have strengths and weaknesses. Love the 8 speed in the RAM and the fact you can get a 4.10 rear however the MDS is a reliability issue…
The GM 6.6L doesn’t have cylinder deactivation and I believe it’s a pushrod design and the fact that the 6 speed will most likely be reliable, this would push me to go for the GM.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
I'm surprised those don't have the self leveling air ride.
This is a great, real world review. I’m glad you red-lined the engine like that
The only difference I see in extended mirrors is you get to hit other vehicles much easier. And not everyone knows how to drive on the road.
Great review. Beautiful truck!
Thanks bro 👍🏾
Did you ever review a Titan towing ?
I did one awhile back but plan on redoing another in the future 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork cool. Ur doing a great job btw. Ur channel will surely be successful

I just use a 7/4 adapter on my 98 Suburban. It works fine. The only 4-pin connection I ever use is a rental utility trailer. The mirrors are a plus. I have a similar set and I love the backup light feature, and mine also have the turn signal LED's.
Does the 2022 gmc sierra 2500 HD gas have the active fuel management?
No
@@JB_WhoWork so between the gmc 2500 gas and ram 2500 hemi, which one would give better mpg, considering that gmc gets 87 octane and ram gets 91 premium gas.
Thanks for sharing, great info 👍🏾
Thanks 👍🏾
Understood. Bad logging roads aren’t maintained like most county clay roads so they’re going to put more wear and tear on any truck over time. Thanks
Bro you hit the nail on the head!!! I didn’t mention but I felt like the engine was working so hard because of the gear ratios 👍🏾
The Chevy will last longer because it’s simpler plain and simple how a power train should be.
Do the Z71’s with their beefier suspension squat less? I’m about to jump a z71 2500 gasser but trying to do my due diligence before I sign the papers
Is the trailer empty? How much does it weigh? Thanks
It’s about 9700#’s the way it sits currently 👍🏾
Ive had one as my new utility truck since February, and i really have no complaints other than the trans having rough downshifting to 1st when coming to a stop
Thanks for sharing this!
Straight digging it, doing well with load too
Thanks for the good review. I have a 2022 sierra 3500 on its way with the 6.6 gas. Hoping for a major improvement over my 2012 with the 6.0!
How have you been liking it. I just ordered same truck
😂😂
I like the Carhart package on the 2021s. But black is so hard to keep up lol. It does look great though. White has its flaws too. They show every spec of everything you pick up from the road. Red is my personal favorite.
Yea I’m probably gonna but another white RAM but Darker reds look good with blackout 🔥
gm interior is simpler than the rest but everything falls to hand like it should. i cannot say that for my 19 F150 and TBH i don't see a huge difference between the GM and Ford interior prior to 21, Ram left them both behind.
Very very true 👍🏾
Hey JB, so do you think that a truck like this would tow like a 37’ TT with a GVWR of like 10k without any problems?
It would, I would definitely use a WDH though 👍🏾
It’s purely speculation and RAM has not come out and said they are working on a new gas engine 👍🏾
The 2016-2019 gauge cluster high end trucks LTZ, High Country, SLT, Denali have much more style.
Bought a 2020 Crew Cab 2500HD loved it but will trade back to a regular bed in 2022...I find it too hard to get thru curved drivethrus, turn arounds and too long in tight parking areas..also will wait for the 10 speed tranny
GM IF YOU’RE LISTENING PLEASE GIVE US A 10 SPEED IN A GAS JOB. PLEASE PLEASE
Looks like the truck did well. The Ford Gas 7.3 will probably make this truck feel slow. Looking forward to your Ford test and also a Gas Titan XD with the 9 speed.
Yea I think GM made a mistake mating this to the 6 speed and Ford’s offering has more power/gears. I hope I can do them soon!
