This was interesting in that Susan's attorney kept bringing up her physical problems, she said in her interview she was frightened of guns. Let me see, she shot at the range, and had two guns, selected the most powerful one. Finally, nothing wrong with her right hand!
To see the mother of Anjica crying did something to my heart! It could have been avoided if Susan hadn’t been so cruel to CHILDREN,she has never to my eyes ever shown any compassion or remorse for the victims.May Anjica rest easy
There was no evidence that Susan was cruel to the CHILDREN. The CHILDREN mostly likely started to mouth off when the old lady asked them to keep the noise down or to move away from her house, which was well within her rights. I don't know what stories the CHILDREN told the mother, but the mother should have remained calm and waited to hear the old lady's side of the story. CHILDREN call each other names all the time, and adults call CHILDREN names when the CHILDREN are misbehaving or talking smack. It happens, there's no need to fly off the handle and start threatening people with violence.
@@Psalm-Singing-Old-Biddy This old lady harassed those kids all the time, she thought that open field that those kids played in was her property. @user-gd9rn5gi3x She said herself during the interrogation and she threw skates and took one of the children tablet. Why she wanted a confrontation. She so scared This lady is over two hundred pounds at the time she wasn't afraid
That's what I'd like to know as well, but usually the prosecution will go for what it thinks it can get. Plus, murder 2 is murder that is not planned but is deliberate, i.e. prosecution would have had to prove the deliberate part.
Probably because her age means there is no real difference from a sentencing stand point. We will know better after sentencing. The prosecution had to weigh the probability of a guilty verdict and maybe manslaughter was the surest bet. Florida isn't exactly reliable in race based shooting cases. A first degree felony involving a firearm will very likely put her in prison for the rest of her life, regardless of the charge.
She definitely planned this, weapons probably right after the 1st encounter with Aj. She didn’t have a wear & carry so she had to lure her to her home/door. Again she planned this just evil
She used to call the cops for every little single foolishness she felt she was a victim of, and when she really needed to call the cops "because she felt scared for her life", she decided they were good for nothing and relied on a firearm. No congruence there between the chronological facts and her alleged defense. Quite apparent she premeditated an escalation like the one in question. Understandably, the prosecution were afraid they would not be able to prove that premeditation, so they went for manslaughter; but, it was evident she ruminated and had thought about doing what she did beforehand.
She definitely planned this. All within a year purchases the weapons probably right after the 1st encounter with Aj. She didn’t have a wear & carry so she had to lure her to her home/door. Again she planned this just evil
There was no evidence presented to support that this old lady was a horrible person. She was just asking for some reasonable amount of peace and quiet, which she had a right to do, and she was within her rights to call the police to register unreasonable noise complaints when the noise became too disruptive. It can be argued, as the defense did in closing, that the horrible behavior, can all be attributed to the mother.
@user-gd9rn5gi3x Sorry what? Calling little children the R, and N words IS horrible in my books. This bitter, racist old bat (she's around my age so don't bother with that) "unalived" a young mother after LURING her to her door. I was on medical retirement until actual retirement, suffering from severe chronic pain. And I live next door to a family with young kids, one of whom screamed continually all summer every summer for about 7 years... You know what I did? I gave them toys, chatted with them, bought, ear plugs, ear bugs and speakers to listen to music and shows. I NEVER ONCE complained, let alone call the cops. Was it annoying in the extreme at times? YEAH!!! But I live in a neighborhood, not alone in a cave... THIS WOMAN IS HORRIBLE AND NOW WILL PAY THE PRICE.
That alone, was not enough to convict her. It's a totality of circumstances. Considering their past history of antagonizing each other. Mostly the defendant. But what really got her is that she shot through a closed door and there was no opportunity for the dead lady to put her in fear of grave bodily harmer death. That's why it's manslaughter. Because her use of deadly force was not justified.
@@Psalm-Singing-Old-Biddybecause, as I just explained, the dead woman had no ability or opportunity to commit grave bodily harm against the defendant. If this AJ woman had kicked down the door or it was starting to give way, that would be a different story. Then Florida's castle doctrine law comes into force. But none of that happened. So yes, the jury got it right.
Man she didn't waste no time. She got up and walked smooth the F# out. Didn't wait for no bailiffs or nothing, she already knew. She looked broken the first time we saw her in court, the gravity and consequences of the situation manifested itself physically in her physique. So out of all the high profile court cases streaming, she has been the only one that acted accordingly in court.
more than likely relying on some other famous stand your ground cases in the state, had it happened a decade ago she very well could have gotten away with it
@@Psalm-Singing-Old-BiddyI'm not sure what your point is. It did get past that. Because she shot the deceased woman. The now convicted woman was certainly not reasonable or prudent. If she had been acting like an adult, and no one went to back off, none of this would have happened.
She looked old before prison. That's hate in her face and all over her body. You'll probably hear about her having cancer soon, too. Hate will eat you alive.

Because she's old is why this got out of hand. The mother's behavior to this old woman was really shocking. Threats, aggression and violence against a frighten, ailing old woman was just bizarre. She was supposed to set a positive example for those kids, not one of threats, aggression and violence when you can't get your way or if someone is exercising their rights to ask for some reasonable level of peace and quiet. Gee N$ Sherlock, ! No firearm would also mean the victim would be alive. Absolutely surprised Florida ruled properly. The Trayvon case and popcorn case will forever be a deep wound to lady justice..
I'm not sure what's relevant about the Trayvon Martin case here. They're completely different cases. In George Zimmerman was rightfully acquitted. Unlike this woman, he did have a valid self-defense case. The biggest difference being, that at the time Zimmerman shot Martin, according to one witness, "he had him on the ground and was grounding impounding him, MMA style." So therefore Zimmerman had a reasonable fear that his life was an imminent otherwise unavoidable danger of grave bodily armor death. That is literally the letter of the law. In this case, the victim was never in a position to threaten this woman with grave bodily harm her death because he was behind a locked door.
Yawn... Zimmerman stalked a teen. That was minding his way home. Zimmerman hounded and biasly assumed the minor was up to no good. He fn killed a teen. End of discussion!
@@Taylaen The Trayvon case went the way it did because the prosecution overcharged, wouldn’t be surprised if it was intentional as they didn’t want to charge Zimmerman in the first place.

She should get life in prison without the possibility of parole!!! She saw this woman as a wild animal and not a human. She did what someone would do if there was a wild animal chasing her. She never saw this woman nor her children as people. She could have handled this with a woman to woman conversation if she had a problem with her or her children.
Right..the only reaction I saw from her was when the judge commented something and they all laughed in court(in which got me angry 😡 because I felt it was disrespectful to the victim's family)..and when the woman witnesses testified saying she didn't know Susan but it was obvious they did who was her neighbor. Oh another time a few chuckles during her interview with authorities.

These days children playing outside is so rare, we should all be happy when we see this! I know so many kids that just play video games all day. It's sad.
This is an example of why you sometimes have to handle your own business rather than leave it to the police. This woman had a history of begging her neighbors to T.C.O.B. and if they had, the life that mattered would have continued. I realize this is a TV show quote, but the context of the story applies: "No More Half-Measures"~Mike Ehrmantraut
@@christianvalle4188exactly! Her problem wasn't that she got a gun. The problem was that she shot through a heavy and locked the door. That's not justifiable use of deadly force. It might be under different circumstances, but there was no way this woman was going to break the door down. Whenever I get a door knock late at night, I always come to the door with a gun. And this woman did dial 911. She'd have been better off if she waited for the cops to show up. But unfortunately, sometimes by the time the cops get there, they're only there to chalk the dead bodies. That's also why I go to the door armed. But I know enough not to shoot through a locked door coincidentally, if she had opened the door, and AJ stepped into her house, she would have been justified in shooting her under Florida's castle doctrine law.
@@colonelkurtz2269that's right. By definition, manslaughter is recklessly and without cause causing the death of another. I suppose they could have charged her with second-degree murder. But that would have been a higher bar and I guess they didn't feel they had the evidence to back it up.

The Mother, realizing her family was dealing with a hideous evil beast, should have taken greater proactive steps to protect herself and children from this dangerous ogre. There is no negotiating with the evil spawned by this society. Both women were out of control and seemingly the children also. Keep your children away from evil beasts. Hope mothers learn from this.

Why wasn't she charged with second-degree murder?
her research of STAND YOUR GROUND LAW is an indication that this was a premeditated crime.
That's what I'd like to know as well, but usually the prosecution will go for what it thinks it can get. Plus, murder 2 is murder that is not planned but is deliberate, i.e. prosecution would have had to prove the deliberate part.
Because she is white.
@@Mazeboxx I thought it was pretty obvious from the interview that she wanted to hurt her. The detectives were excellent, by the way, very smooth.

Theres a lot of hatred going around and the old blame game never ends well.
