The pacing and style of your editing is second to none. The camera angles and movement you have is just incredible. Not to mention the video fidelity. The Erd Tree has def been burned before. The ash on the way to the lift for the forbidden lands is evidence of that. I speculate the golden Erd Tree we see now is just grace or spiritual energy.

Here’s a few reasons why. - She looks nothing like Godfrey, nor does she share any of his abilities or resembling qualities. - No one knows who Melina is besides MAYBE Shabriri(who is an outergod) and Marika would have no reason hide her own daughter from the world after just having created her order in all her glory. Some other reasons I have points to who Melina’s father actually is. That would be Radagon. Reasons being: - Melina is THE ONLY potential child of Marika who has actually unleashed the Flame of Ruin which is for the fire giants to tend to. - Radagon is clearly half giant as implied by the fire giant whip. - All Godfrey children names start with “God” (with the exception of the Omen twins), all Rennal/Radagon children names start with an “R”, all Marika/Radagon children start with an “M”. - You yourself showed the smoldering butterfly. There are only 2 others, the nascent butterfly(implying Miquella’a cocoon), and the Aeonian butterfly (which implies Malenia’s rot flower in Aeonia). 3 butterflies, 3 children of Marika/Radagon. - And the final reason is the dagger of calling, the dagger Melina uses to help us against Morgott with and then apparently leaves behind in that secret room on the elevator that leads down to the Forbidden Lands from Leyendell. It is said that the original owner of the dagger is the “Kindling Maiden”, another implication that she’s part fire giant.

I don't agree with all his theories either but he revealed some facts about Marika's relationship with Radagon that made me realize that Radagon was vital to Marika winning her first war in the wake of the order. And from the very beginning of playing the game and hearing all of Melina's dialogue, I was always under (maybe even attached to) the belief that Melina was affirmatively her own person. So from that position, it made me question that she was the GEQ in some way as everyone else in the Elden Ring community seems to believe. Now when I saw Smoughtown explain that the Gloam eye had no connection to Ranni, I understood why everyone believed Melina was the GEQ, but I still don't believe the soul of Melina is truly the GEQ even with her saying that she's "burned and bodiless". I do agree Melina is connected to the GEQ, but I don't think GEQ's persona aligns with when Melina asserted to us that she has her own purpose separate from Marika and would let no one speak ill of that. Those felt like the words of a child, not a motherly empyrean or cunning empyrean waiting in the dark to come back from dormancy. Not to mention that you'd think there'd be some game mechanic to have Melina stop the Godskin nobles and apostles from harming us, which she NEVER does even if you choose to meet them in combat AFTER she returns to the Erdtree. I think it was around that time that I figured out Melina was the only one to use the Flame of Ruin. So then later on when I kept watching more stuff on Smoughtown about the fire giants(and monks), Malenia's story, Miquella's story, I think that's when I found out about the butterflies and MAYBE the names. @moxiewatts radagon is only half woman. Also my wild speculation is that the dlc will cover the events of the first burning of the erdtree and why there is an illusory tree.
My idea is that Melina is the first child of Marika and Radagon, but born as Marikas firstborn and before she even met Godfrey. Marika gave the rune of death to Melina, because of the prophecy which was probably uttered by prophets when Melina was born. Maybe Marika thought that this was a sign of her daughter being the best safekeep for the principle of death. But Melina disagreed with Marika and, after the war of the giants, betrayed her and tried to burn the erdtree to allow proper death in the lands to be possible again. But Maliketh stopped her mid ritual, which is why Leyndell is lightly covered in ash. After that the remembrance of Melina got reincarnated inside the erdtree, but brainwashed, so that Marika has a backup option to burn the erdtree, should her betrayal of the greater will fail. Thats another reason for Melinas office to be directly besides the literal "forbidden lands" where nobody would know that she resides as a semi spirit. Her dagger tells the prophecy and is rammed into the table, as if to simply give her a sign to carry out a long awaited order.
Fantastic in-game video captures, that isn't easy to do. Particularly, I hadn't seen slow-motion close-ups of these particular Blackflame spell-castings (5:11), the hand and finger gestures are so interesting. I'm down for more future content!

I started following for Zelda, but am absolutely stoked for your foray into FromSoft! Selfishly really hoping you cover some bloodborne lore… I played that after TOTK underwhelmed me with the story. Bloodborne very quickly entered my top 5 games of all time. I think the subject matter would pair very well with your narrative style and inquisitive perspective! The Crucible Knight helms show a budding tree and an axe, possibly implying that Godfrey and his knights chopped down the Great Tree to grow Marika’s new Erdtree bud. I think we might see Melina burn for the first time in the DLC. I think she will burn Godwyn’s deathroot tree, and that would be why she returns “burned and bodiless” since the deathroot is a product of Godwyn’s body alone, so only her body would need to burn as kindling. She also seems tied with Miquella and Malenia’s butterflies, so she could be a third child of Marika and Radagon.

While I’ve never played Elden Ring or any of the “Souls” games by FromSoftware, but they’re very interesting to get a good read upon. From what I can gather in such games, the worlds around the player character are beyond repair and doomed from the very start. The player is not a normal human. No. Far from it. You’re playing as a being doomed to die and live again to fight another day while taking in the ruined world around you. No matter what your actions will be, there is no resolve. Dark Souls and Bloodborne to name a few… even if the player earns the best possible outcome, it doesn’t end with the light of peace. No. It always ends with a repeating cycle or a worse cycle. But of all of the Souls games, Elden Ring has an outcome with the player achieving his destined goal. Becoming the Elden Lord, and while there’s nothing left of the ruins of the Lands Between, the player character has the option to obtain what he came for and achieved his goal. The closest to a resolution in a Souls game I’ve seen (yes, I spoiled…). Though let’s be realistic, this isn’t just from From, but the game is based upon the work of George R. R. Martin, whose writings are inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings albeit in a more graphic fashion. If you’ve seen how Game of Thrones “ended”, well you can tell that it had some resolution, but never in the manner that fans would’ve hoped. Bottom line, what did others expect from the makers of Dark Souls and the writer of Game of Thrones? Being last year’s GOTY and all? And the stage crash at the Game Awards? Oh, the stupidity of humanity, LOL… Speaking of Dark Souls… Didn’t the Nameless King fight from Dark Souls III instantly remind you of Demise’s fight as it did with me?

My idea is that Melina is the first child of Marika and Radagon, but born as Marikas firstborn and before she even met Godfrey. Marika gave the rune of death to Melina, because of the prophecy which was probably uttered by prophets when Melina was born. Maybe Marika thought that this was a sign of her daughter being the best safekeep for the principle of death. But Melina disagreed with Marika and, after the war of the giants, betrayed her and tried to burn the erdtree to allow proper death in the lands to be possible again. But Maliketh stopped her mid ritual, which is why Leyndell is lightly covered in ash. After that the remembrance of Melina got reincarnated inside the erdtree, but brainwashed, so that Marika has a backup option to burn the erdtree, should her betrayal of the greater will fail. Thats another reason for Melinas office to be directly besides the literal "forbidden lands" where nobody would know that she resides as a semi spirit. Her dagger tells the prophecy and is rammed into the table, as if to simply give her a sign to carry out a long awaited order.

I started following for Zelda, but am absolutely stoked for your foray into FromSoft! Selfishly really hoping you cover some bloodborne lore… I played that after TOTK underwhelmed me with the story. Bloodborne very quickly entered my top 5 games of all time. I think the subject matter would pair very well with your narrative style and inquisitive perspective! Either way, looking forward to more lore!

The Crucible Knight helms show a budding tree and an axe, possibly implying that Godfrey and his knights chopped down the Great Tree to grow Marika’s new Erdtree bud.
I think we might see Melina burn for the first time in the DLC. I think she will burn Godwyn’s deathroot tree, and that would be why she returns “burned and bodiless” since the deathroot is a product of Godwyn’s body alone, so only her body would need to burn as kindling. She also seems tied with Miquella and Malenia’s butterflies, so she could be a third child of Marika and Radagon.

While I’ve never played Elden Ring or any of the “Souls” games by FromSoftware, but they’re very interesting to get a good read upon. From what I can gather in such games, the worlds around the player character are beyond repair and doomed from the very start. The player is not a normal human. No. Far from it. You’re playing as a being doomed to die and live again to fight another day while taking in the ruined world around you. No matter what your actions will be, there is no resolve. Dark Souls and Bloodborne to name a few… even if the player earns the best possible outcome, it doesn’t end with the light of peace. No. It always ends with a repeating cycle or a worse cycle. But of all of the Souls games, Elden Ring has an outcome with the player achieving his destined goal. Becoming the Elden Lord, and while there’s nothing left of the ruins of the Lands Between, the player character has the option to obtain what he came for and achieved his goal. The closest to a resolution in a Souls game I’ve seen (yes, I spoiled…). Though let’s be realistic, this isn’t just from From, but the game is based upon the work of George R. R. Martin, whose writings are inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings albeit in a more graphic fashion. If you’ve seen how Game of Thrones “ended”, well you can tell that it had some resolution, but never in the manner that fans would’ve hoped. Bottom line, what did others expect from the makers of Dark Souls and the writer of Game of Thrones? Being last year’s GOTY and all? And the stage crash at the Game Awards? Oh, the stupidity of humanity, LOL…
