  • In a quick video tutorial, I will show how I remove and clean the throttle body off of my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited WK using Berryman B-12 Chemtool Air-Intake Cleaner. This is a safe and effective way to clean the delicate components of a throttle body!

I'm not a very well experienced cat maintenance guy, but i am learning. You explained something that NO OTHER VIDEO explains. I wondered why carbon build up would effect idling so much if the air intake area is so large. You explain how while the intake is closed, a small gap exists to show air to come in for idling. NOBODY in RUclips ever explains that. Now i see that a thin layer of carbon is enough to block this little gap. Now it makes sense. I'm glad i watched your video. I honestly learned from you. Thank you so very much!!!

I think I cleaned the throttle body on my Hemi at like 135k and it was disgusting. Definitely took a minute to clean with brushes and carb cleaner. I think I bought my catch can immediately after cleaning my throttle body. lol Crazy how much oil will accumulate in one oil change interval.

Do those throttle bodies have gaskets that need to be replaced once taken out? I have a 2001 Camry and want to clean the throttle body. Tx for the good vid!

Why not Power Foam by Amsoil? It worked great for me.

Doug Dean have you used it specifically for the TB? I would like to do so by checking before an after, there's some guess work involved but by taking it off, I can make sure it's clean. It's not a big deal to me, I'd like to see what you can get from Amsoil's line as well, I just had this at the time. This was actually filmed in January, maybe my TB is dirty enough by now already to give that a go too!

You need a catch can badly

I have one and even had one in the video as you can see the hoses going into the manifold @ 4:28. This TB had a catch can installed for its entire life and it's often misleading when people advise a catch can prevent all build up. Thank you for watching and commenting in!
