She’s a 10 time Grammy award winner and has influenced more than a few singers out there including Whitney Houston, whom sang background for Chaka on her first two albums, and Mary J Blige, who you reacted to. Chaka is indeed the vocalist on Higher Love. She also did the vocal arrangements for it. Chaka also did the vocal arrangements for Robert Palmer’s mega hit, Addicted To Love. Addicted To Love was originally recorded as a duet with Robert and Chaka, but for some reason, the record company squashed the idea and most of Chaka’s vocals were stripped off. But if you listen closely, there are parts where you still can hear her.
Magical song🥰 David Foster says this was the only melody he ever wrote with a specific person in mind and actually called this "Chaka" because he knew she could give this song justice! Another hit of hers was "I Feel For You" by Prince also "Tell Me Something Good" with Rufus and my favorite "Ain't Nobody"💥💫💯🌠

Not only is Chaka a phenomenal vocalist with incredible power, tone, phrasing and control, she's beautiful, classy, funny and a genuinely nice person. I'll admit that when I first saw her in the video for I Feel For You and she smiled, I developed a huge crush on her. 😁
Chaka Khan is as original Funk Queen, she was the lead singer in the Funk Soul group Rufus from the early 70’s to the early 80’s, releasing her first solo album in 1978. Its great that you picked this song first because it shows her range, but at the time no one was surprised at her range because we all knew Chaka can blow the house down. David Foster wrote this song for her so she could have more ballads because she never really did that many (she had a huge R&B ballad called “ Sweet Thing” with Rufus) but the rest is Funk city, even the music that she had released in the last ten years is mostly Funk , including her latest single…
Chaka is iconic! First starting out with the Soul Funk Jazz Rock band Rufus whom she recorded many hits with. Her discography is 🔥.

You need to watch her live version of "Ain't Novbody." People don't realize this, but she has won almost as many Grammy awards as Whitney and Mariah COMBINED! Whitney won 6, Mariah won 5 and Chaka won 10! Even Barbra Streisand, who has been in the business for 6 decades won 8. Chaka is a tour de force of music!
