Prince did not write this, but he did write the song "I feel for you" which he also recorded and Chaka Kahn later covered.

When I first heard this on the Breakin' soundtrack I was already familiar with Rufus & Chaka Khan's earlier output (Tell Me Something Good, etc.) but for some reason it didn't click that this was them too. Amazing track, very reflective of its era. BTdubs, if you haven't already reacted to it, check out 'Tell Me Something Good'. Shonuf funky.

‘Incarcerated. She said that a couple of times’ 😂
Prince wrote ‘I Feel For You,’ which Chaka Khan famously covered.
Whitney Houston covered ‘I’m Every Woman’ (I think y’all saying ‘I AM every woman’ is what’s throwing you off lol)

Rufus is an American funk band from Chicago best known for launching the career of lead singer CHAKA KHAN.[1] They had several hits during their career including "Tell Me Something Good", "Sweet Thing", "Do You Love What You Feel", and "Ain't Nobody". Rufus and Chaka Khan were one of the most popular and influential funk bands of the 1970s; they had four consecutive number-one R&B albums, ten top 40 pop hits, and five number-one R&B singles among other accolades. Check out Tell Me Something Good for Chaka with her group Rufus, that was the first that got her noticed. The line of chaka's name that you were doing comes from I Feel For You, which i believe was written by Prince.
