When I first heard this on the Breakin' soundtrack I was already familiar with Rufus & Chaka Khan's earlier output (Tell Me Something Good, etc.) but for some reason it didn't click that this was them too. Amazing track, very reflective of its era. BTdubs, if you haven't already reacted to it, check out 'Tell Me Something Good'. Shonuf funky.
‘Incarcerated. She said that a couple of times’ 😂 Prince wrote ‘I Feel For You,’ which Chaka Khan famously covered. Whitney Houston covered ‘I’m Every Woman’ (I think y’all saying ‘I AM every woman’ is what’s throwing you off lol) Oh man I kicked @ss in geometry! I hated calculus though. But English lit was probably my favorite cuz I got to read a lot of great novels 😊
English was my worst subject. Science was my top subject but I still failed high school lol. Not due to not knowing what's going on but because I saw high school as a detention center. I went to high school in a very bad area in my state. No metal detectors but police and dog patrols all day. Teachers were counting the days until retirement.
@@ShanLH5 lol I dropped out and took my high school equivalency test and only got 7 wrong. I just can learn when the teachers are like the teacher from ferris beulers day off.
@@KenBober I hear ya! My physics teacher was an absolute d!ck. Just cranky and old, demeaning and sh!tty. Made me not want to learn anything from him. I’d go to my guidance counselor crying and begging to drop that class. I couldn’t drop it unless I was failing, and I wasn’t going to fail intentionally (I was too much of a nerd to do that lol.) I couldn’t wait till that class was over for good!
I usually go to metal concerts, but I'm also into ska. I went to a show to see Madness, and Shaggy and Shaka Khan performed as well. That lady is a powerhouse! Still one of my favorite shows I've ever seen.
Rufus and Chaka Khan, some tremendous music made in the 70s and 80s. If you want to go old school movie searching, this song was featured in the classic 80s movie Breakin.
You two are so much fun to watch. Thats how we reacted to some of the best music of this decade. And your right, we have to bring back dancing, its an expression of joy.
Chaka Khan's real name is Yvette Marie Stevens she was known Queen of Funk this song was so awesome back in the eighties especially when everyone was into poppin and breaking lol, thank you for this reaction love it . Stay real and awesome and keep up the good work Hollywood and Smokey. Love ya guys ❤️ Dueces ✌️✌️ always
OMG - LOVE ME SOME CHAKA KHAN!!! :) You should check out I Feel For You (what ya'll were singing: Chaka Khan...Chaka Khan....that's the beginning of that song)....or, Tell Me Something Good or Sweet Thing!! SO GOOD!! CHAKA GOT PIPES, YA'LL!!!
Morning fellas! Loved the intro this morning! Smokey you crack me up! Lol! The fav subject in school was literature or history for me from what I remember. I dropped out in HS then got me ged later in life lol. Anyways, this is a great song! Takes me back! Lol. 😁🤓
I dont know much about Chaka Khan .She always reminded me off a " young " Tina Turner , in looks and vocally in the eighties . just love this track . That being said I also thought , we needed some more female Bands / artist reactions here ! So Ty for doing this.
Rufus is an American funk band from Chicago best known for launching the career of lead singer CHAKA KHAN.[1] They had several hits during their career including "Tell Me Something Good", "Sweet Thing", "Do You Love What You Feel", and "Ain't Nobody". Rufus and Chaka Khan were one of the most popular and influential funk bands of the 1970s; they had four consecutive number-one R&B albums, ten top 40 pop hits, and five number-one R&B singles among other accolades. [citation needed]
This was great, Chaka Khan is legendary! You guys are my new happy place for the rest of the day, my two favorite dudes trying to get the Cadence of I'm Every Woman was just pure gold😂 and Hollywood your reaction when Smokey started going off impersonating his teacher was so subtle but priceless and adorable!😎🤘🖤 I always liked math, it just never liked me back LOL I can do all the assignments, practice with all the groups, even helped other kids understand, like I really really got it... until that test rolled around and it was written in a foreign language, I don't understand how they come up with those tests that have nothing to do with what you learned in class LOL
I grew up with Chaka and Rufus back in the day. There is a young man from Brazil named Gabriel Henrique who did this utilizing Jessie J techniques. I will warn you, he was AGT and won the golden buzzer and a standing ovation by singing Run to You by Whitney. You will not be disappointed. ❤
great reaction guys, how about Skunk Anansie with "Weak" ? I never see anyone react to it and it's such a great song. Skin (the singer) has such a power voice as well..
A House remix of this(very close to the original) was used by the dj as the very last tune to be played on the terrace at the iconic "We Love..." Sundays at Space in Ibiza, perfect!
Austin Millz x Chaka Khan - "Nobody Khan"(Ain't Nobody) is a new song Chaka Khan did with DJ/Producer Austin Millz that came out last year. It's short but still pretty good.🤘🏼
Dudes, you better have seen The Blues Brothers or I'm gonna be kicking yo ass. :D edit - Khan originates on the eastern euroasian steppes, think Ghengis Khan and the silk trail. further edit - the tune was actually Rufus and Chaka Khan, had to look up who wote it, but it's credited to a dude called Dave Wolinski.
GRILLING AND CHILLING "TO THIS JAM"!😎😍🥃🎂😂 MY JAM GRUB WAS "FIRE!🔥" AND!😍🤣😅AFTER ALL OF THE "JAMMIN AND JIGGIN" WHILE GRILLIN AND CHILLIN....I WAS STARVING!🤗🥳
80's music is so happy. A lot of rap music is the opposite, so mean and hateful (not all of rap, but a lot of it). We all inherently yearn to be happy, and 80's music, brings the happy.
Ive never liked potato salad because i HATE mayonnaise. Although my family has a potato salad recipe that uses bacon and bacon grease instead of eggs and mayonnaise. No raisins in that lol.
Definitely r&b and funk based from the 70's and 80s. Your partially wrong in that Prince wrote Nothing Compares for Sinead, he wrote it for one of side projects Furstenberg. Check out Tell Me Something Good for Chaka with her group Rufus, that was the first that got her noticed. The line of chaka's name that you were doing comes from I Feel For You, which i believe was written by Prince.
This song was released by "Rufus and Chaka Khan", so not Prince, but Rufus, evidently a Chicago funk band, of which Chaka Khan was an increasingly prominent member, eventually leading to her leaving for a solo career. Total floor-filler in the clubs!
She is the G.O.A.T. Love her "I Feel For You" -- just for a contrast, you should see Gabriel Henrique covering this song, he does it justice and then some (ruclips.net/video/FysDosK53GY/видео.htmlsi=PB86TPMmA6MFIzPL)
I think the disrespect and hate for Corey Taylor on this solo album is ridiculous. He is one of the greatest writers in the history of music. The hate is so strong. This second solo is so good
I think Chaka Khan's real name is Yvette Stevens or something like that. But I do know that she went to Africa and had her name changed to Chaka Khan and never went back to her original name.
Uhhhm I am white as the day is long, and I NEVER used raisins in my potato salad. Had many WHITE relatives making potato salad, and NEVER had I heard such a thing til I started using SM apps like twitter. Also we supposedly don't use lotion? Uhhh, again, never heard of it. Don't wash our legs & feet in the shower? Only w person I ever heard this from was my Grandma did tell me once the water would just wash her feet. Bathing w/dogs? My sis did that once w/her puppy and I was mortified. 😂😅

Prince did not write this, but he did write the song "I feel for you" which he also recorded and Chaka Kahn later covered.
This my favorite Chaka song. What a jam
"Tell Me Something Good" when she was with Rufus is THE Chaka Kahn song you gotta check out.
Yes, my favorite!! I remember it from growing up in the 70s.

her "tell me something good" performance on soul train is what made her famous and what she is known for... reached #3 on the R&B charts
