    How are you able to route the midi information in real time from MPC One into Logic Pro X to be able to quantize on each separate channel?

    Hey, why do we have to route to a bus on audio track and not direct to the instrument track for recording? I’ve search everywhere and can’t find that answer. I am able to record to the instrument track with midi notes if I use logic software keyboard and MPC plugin but not with mpc live in standalone using plugin. Thanks

      MAXX HEADDRUMZ currently this is the only way to record within logic as far as I know. We all need to contact Akai either via website or by using the button on the bottom of the software for making suggestions/comments and hopefully they can make this change on future software/firmware updates. Lets also suggest that the over dub/record button can be also toggled via hardware instead only thru the plugin within logic pro.

    I asked this on your stand alone vid, but I'll ask here as well since it's more recent. And it may be possible in one mode and not the other.
    Can I do this and use Logic as a sound module? I want to sequence on the Live in my case, but have it trigger VSTs in Logic?

    • @StudioToys

      You would be the first to do that if possible. I have never done that one.

    • @StudioToys

      I have never experienced that. Try adjusting your volume. Disable any plugins on the master stereo channel until after you have recorded.

    So how every time I wanna use new track record what do I need to do I just received mine. I’m lost I ha e it open in logic i here I record one track I latch my note repeat it’s doing it to the whole program even when I go new track. I even open another instance and still see the pads lighting up from the other instance and I’m not even on that track... idk ... I’m going to try ur way but question is if I do note repeat will it...? Also if I want new track can I do different automation etc??? I know kinda cluttered I am maybe asking wrong but please try understand me thx

      Mike Hawk everything for recording should be in one of my videos

    • @StudioToys
      @StudioToys  6 лет назад

      Mike Hawk it should allow note repeat but you can only use one MPC instrument per project, but you can record multiple audio tracks. You can only record one MPC midi track in Logic right now but you can record many midi tracks on the MPC. There are many possibilities with this configuration.

    I don't own the MPC X yet, but i have a lot of other outboard gear (motif rack, akai s6000, akai S950, e-mu soundmodules etc etc.) so i wonder how i could best incorporate the MPC X best in my setup.
    Is it possible to route multiple tracks from the MPC X to separate busses for simultaneously recording individual audio tracks into logic? And does it record that via USB (as it can act as audio-interface) or would i still have to use the physical audio-outs on the MPC and use the inputs on my audio interface like i have to do with my motif-rack (which is also connected via USB, but not for audio)?

    • @StudioToys
      @StudioToys  5 лет назад +1

      Nice setup! You can record in controller mode (via usb using the MPC as a software instrument) but you can't assign or bus each track on the MPC to a separate audio track in Logic and record each track simultaneously, not as of today anyway. Thats asking a lot don't you think? LOL... That was the first thing I tried buddy. But in reality you can record 8 audio outs into your interface with no problem since the MPC does have 8 analog outs. This is the point of having hardware right? Do you want to record in the box or record in standalone mode to have an authentic analog sound? You can do either one with the MPC but ya gotta pick one.

    • @cdh79
      @cdh79 5 лет назад

      thanks for the quick response! yes, i was asking a lot, but i had hoped technology had come that far already, after having spent basically decades on working with the midi/audio separation.. when will this finally become easy? ;)
      my problem is that all my audio interface inputs are already full (the disadvantage of having a lot of external gear), and i already have to move audio-cables between external devices (basically do a temporary mix-down) and if i get the mpc x i fear this will get even worse.. so i had hoped to use the inputs on the mpc x as an additional audio-interface .. as far as i can see that's possible if i use the MPC as a plugin.. but it seems that i can then not get the typical mpc feel as it'd be just like an external module and sequencing is done in logic, right?
      so maybe it's better to use the mpc in standalone mode and then bounce as audio-files (i did see in a video that you can separate the tracks there) and then import those to logic for controlling the other output gear and sequencing further? hmmm.. also not very straight-forward, but an option..
      still much to consider ;)

    • @StudioToys
      @StudioToys  5 лет назад

      OMG dude.. Your problem is an easy fix... I need to do another video really soon on the importance of MIXERS! If the computer is the brain this is definitely the heart... stay tuned...

    • @cdh79
      @cdh79 5 лет назад

      ah, i have an allen & heath console (that's currently bypassed) as i need to keep individual tracks to mix at a later stage (actually in another studio), so summing isn't really a good option.. i did that in the past when i used hardware-only.. i know i can connect some of the equipment to the (analogue) console and solo the tracks and bounce them individually, but i try to avoid the necessity of that.. with my current audio interface i can record the audio of 4 stereo modules (or 8 mono tracks) in one go, which is nice and easy if i stay within that limit.. if i add the adat board to the S6000 i could have that fully covered in itself as well and free up some of the 1/4" jacks.. i could add a focusrite octopre or another saffire pro 40 (which i use now) in a daisy-chain to get some more direct inputs as well, so there are some options..
      the other route would be to use the MPC (possibly 2.0) as main sequencer. once done with a track record everything onto audio-tracks in logic (or MPC 2.0?) and just use logic for the audio-recording and laying out the final sequence and effects before it's exported for mixing in the other studio.. in that case i'd have to mess around with midi-connections from the MPC to each device and most likely couldn't control my 8x8 to only send midi to the right module.. so also not really a good solution.. maybe i should just get a big enough digital console instead?
