    I have this lens for a few years, and the only use for it in my experience is together with 2-3 extension tubes for macro photography as you can get extremely close up pictures this way (the lens cap must be off or you'll not be able to get close enough to focus).

      Hi, looking to either get this or the 35mm version as a replacement/addition to the a6000 kitlens. It will mostly be used for some travelling so I was wondering whether sticking to a prime and getting used to quickly focusing manually would hurt my experience instead of enriching it with the nice subject separation and lower iso.
      I'd be interested to hear your experience/view here.

    Personally i can recommend Yashica ML 24mm 2.8
    Its very sharp, covers full frame and build quality is awesome but gotta say kinda big for smaller aps cameras.

      Yashica are brilliant lenses. I've got the 50mm 1.8 for my Fuji which I also used to use on my Canon. Chinon 105mm f2.8(either 2.8 or 1.8) is for the price, the best lens I've used (£12 from eBay).

    I've had this for a while (Branded TYKA) and I've had mixed results, some of that I chock up to my own inexperience but some of it is just the lens doing odd things with focus peeking on the a6000, I tested this a few times with clear white text on a black background and sure enough it looks focused on the back screen but not in the actual image.

  • @12vgs8606
    @12vgs8606 5 лет назад +1

    I know this is an old review but hopefully somebody else had similar issue. I purchased this lens just before going on vacation. After using the lens for few hours and comparing the resultant photos with the kit lens at the same focal length, I was not too impressed. At the range of wide apertures, the lens did not feel as "punchy" as the kit lens. Something about the color and sharpness is off. I also realized that when the focal length is set to the end for infinity, everything is off focus including the infinity :-( I lost quite few pictures because I had assumed that I could get scenery by leaving the focal point to the end of the travel. After one morning of outing, I ended up not using this lens on my A6000 and stayed with the kit lens.
    May be my copy is bad and I should try to get it replaced but otherwise I might use the money towards a Sony prime lens if I am never to go to use this one.

    • @0ooTheMAXXoo0
      @0ooTheMAXXoo0 6 лет назад

      You can get really great older manual lenses for very cheap. Why would it not be worth it? Adapters are cheap and I like the adapters with a tripod mount since my camera is so small and light. You can get some top-of-the-line glass for less than $100.

      There are plenty of legacy lenses around the 24-28mm focal range that are better performers than this lens. The thing I like about this lens is that it is really small - like, tiny in fact. Makes a perfect lens for travel and everyday shooting.

    • @JeremyGalloway
      @JeremyGalloway 6 лет назад

      I am shooting mostly my own travels, so I would be hesitant to use a legacy lens due to manual focus, unless it is super easy. Any recommendations for a good legacy lens between 23-25mm? 28mm is a bit to tight for me. Looking for a 35mm equiv. Thanks!

    • @paulm7151
      @paulm7151 6 лет назад +1

      Nikon, Canon, Minolta and Pentax all have old vintage 24mm f2.8 lenses that you can find on Amazon and ebay for cheap. If they are in good condition, they would all perform as good as, if not better than, this 7 artisans lens. But they are all manual focus, so if you are looking for a good autofocus lens, you may be stuck with newer sony and third party lenses.

    • @AronBagel
      @AronBagel 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, it's an APS-C lens according to the Amazon link. However, like you said that means it won't completely cover a full frame sensor. As a result, it won't act as a 37.5mm, it will simply produce extreme vignetting.
