I started working at McDonald's one month ago. Gonna be honest, these videos inspired me. I didn't really consider fast food because I've heard stories and people always told me that they're the worst, especially McDonald's. But since starting I've actually enjoyed it a lot. Making burgers especially. There's just something satisfying about the whole process of making the food, assembling it, and sending it to the next person to put the orders together. My coworkers and managers are all nice and helped me greatly when I started, even when I made mistakes (and boy did I make some). I thank you for these awesome videos showcasing exactly what the McDonald's experience is, rather than having to hear another horror story of mistreatment from other people my age. I've enjoyed pretty much the whole experience so far.
As a DoorDasher, I love getting orders at McDonalds in my area. The are fast, efficient, and understand we are working an order with a timer going. In a sense, we are bringing you more customers (aka: revenue) for those you cannot get to your store. Great Job!
Totally agreed. I like where he says "Hot mic" in this while his colleagues had to been bullshitting in the way that folks are when they've worked together for a long time. He's a consummate professional.
After watching a few of these videos, I love all the little tools and gadgets that help with the efficiency. Such as the McNugget scoop and the ketchup and mustard dispensers. There’s something really satisfying about having all the wrappers and boxes organized and ready to go in their little cubby holes lol
I love these videos. A lot going on, the different orders, etc, but still calm and controlled. It’s gives me a lot of appreciation for those that are working in the back making the food.
The tools, packaging, dispensers, and trays all have been specifically designed for each task for efficiency. Who would’ve known? Crazy. I kinda want a filet o’ fish now..
I started working at McDonald's 8 months ago because watching Stephen's videos made it look so fun and I can confirm it lives up to the expectation. Best work environment I've ever been apart of, honestly.

Plus on top of doing the same thing all day you have to listen to ppl talk sh*t on your hard work. It isn’t very dangerous but it is hard on you🤷🏻♀️

I used to work at McDonald’s. I’m glad I worked there because it helped me create my work ethic but it was toxic as hell, managers would yell at us, blame us for the reasons the restaurant sucked even though they didn’t expect anything from us, I had multiple panic attacks due to its fast paste nature. But it was a job and one I’ll have plenty interesting stories to tell.
He's happily retired now from a hospital job, but when I was a kid my dad worked at McDonald's and these sounds are so nostalgic to me haha. All the beeps.

Stephen please explain why McDonalds only puts a half piece of cheese on the fish sandwich. Its a full size bun just like the other sandwiches are. I fill cheated every time i get a fish sandwich. Thanks Nathan H.

I haven’t worked for McDs in over 15 years but despite a few different products and slight equipment changes the basic assembly procedures are still pretty much the same.
"Assembly procedures" like you were a heart surgeon or something 😂 you flipped burgers bruh. You probably take your car somewhere to get the oil changed and pay someone to mow your grass too.

While they want you to be accurate, precision isn't fully expected right out the gate. It takes time to build up a pace and to be good at what you do. So my advice? Just listen to how they teach you and do your absolute best. Some people have good managers, some have bad, luckily for me, mine were good but less hands on so I handled the biggest part of the work.

Question! The McDonald's nearest to me in New York City just recently started making the burgers the "new way". (Throwing the onions onto the meat while grilling, etc.) But because of how the onions are done now, the final product barely has any onions on it. With the old methods, you would pick up a pinch of onions while prepping the toppings, and I would usually get a good amount on each burger. So I started asking for extra onions when I order now, but it seems they actually never put extra onions on. Has it become difficult to do now that the onions are being sprinkled onto the grill?
I can answer that as someone who is literally ALWAYS running the grill. It's wayy harder. You have to put a lot of pressure to get a good amount of onions out.

I love efficiency. I'd kill it working there once I learned. The cheese should be with the stack tilted slightly, each piece offset a bit so you can grab 1 easy every time, that's a time waster.
As someone who's tried that, it just makes the cheese dry out over time. it doesn't actually help. Plus there's other things you could be doing with the time it takes to arrange all the slices.

It's easier to work with less people in the kitchen. At my McDonalds we worked faster when there were 4 of us than 5-10 of us.

EXACTLY. We have VERY strict timers at McDonald's. We're REALLY efficient about following them depending on which crew's there that day.

What's funny is the nugget trays can double as a hotcake tray by removing the metal grating on top (we have to wash it ofc)
But I usually put the gratings on top during changeover (transition from breakfast to lunch)

I can explain this, When McDonalds created the Filet O Fish they felt that a full slice of cheese took away from the flavor of the fish.

We cook quarter fresh by order. So when you hear the cowbell, it means to drop a piece of quarter pounder meat

You have to get used to thinking on your feet. Read the screen a few orders ahead and call out product to be cooked well in advance.
Honestly just practice. Be faster but also keep it consistent. I ve became one of the best people on table at my mcdonalds
