Sanjay Ji, I am an 80 year old living in the US. I am a swamini who took sanyas from Sri Dayananda Saraswati. I find this series to be wonderful, and have showed the episodes to my poorvashram family who are also music lovers. The anecdotes you provide are beautiful additions to the already beautiful ragams. I hope you continue the series and to share these precious moments with us. Swami Vedavedyananda Saraswati
The sa - ma leap n the vakra sequence in the second half ( pa-dha-ni-dha -sa) is challenging , even to the hearer . The fluent way, however, in which Sunjay traverses those notes is fascinating ; it adds one more skill to his excellent narration .
I became fan of you Sir when I heard this Raaga first time for Bhogindra( Kunthalavarali) during Swathi Thirunaal festival program. Today's story gives us more clarity for your popularity... 🙏
Sanjay Ayya, I am an ordinary person who listens to Carnatic music, but don't understand the technicalities, only the bhaavam. The joy that's transferred from the singer to the audience depends quite a bit on the performance. Therefore, when the singer (and this applies even more to dancers, of course!) makes the exposition come alive through on-stage expressions, smiles, non-verbal gestures, and especially their "connect" with the accompanying performers, the enjoyment of the music for the audience goes up a few orders of magnitude. You're a consummate performer. I am too small and too much of a musical idiot to comment on your music per se. But as a music consumer, you're outstanding in your ability to convey the joy of the artform. In this series too, you come across as a very pleasant, likeable person. If you've been a little cocky when younger (you've shared about this in another episode), it only adds to the charm - the added enjoyment that a cute little imp, who is otherwise very competent, adds to a gathering. Thoroughly enjoyable performances, all. Thank you for making Carnatic music accessible even to philistines like me.
Wonderful note and memories to treasure sir. Wish you had started this series a couple of years back. My appa would have loved these notes and comments. An ardent father and daughter fan. More notes to see... ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏
Interesting. LGJ used to employ those short catchy phrases just as GNB used to delineate the raga during the alapana. Makes those short raga phrases themselves paint the whole raga picture. Didn't know people opposed it. Don't understand why they should.
As gifted a raconteur as you could ever listen to apart from the superb artiste that he is, Sanjay Subramaniam never fails to delight and dazzle and if I were to remember one cutchery deeply embedded in memory among so many would be Bhogindra Sayinam rendered at Navrathri festival...it was just sparkling.
That was a beautiful surprise.. my day doesn't go without hearing your singing this... Bhogindra sayinam.. so happy sir.. may you have a good health for a long long time eternally... Namaskaram sir
Interesting.. I first heard this kriti sung by MSS in an old LP recording in my univ. library. Nice song and nice context on neo-classical modes in this raaga.
We thoroughly enjoy this series by you Mr.Sanjay. Infact, my father has now become an ardent fan of you after listening to this series. What we both particularly enjoy and discuss from your videos are : Your mimicry is very good. When you speak about Shri.Lalgudi Jayaraman, Shri. SRD or your wife's guru and so on, we can almost visualize the incident that occurred. In my father's words, it is traditional, short and very natural. He can tell that - you must have enjoyed every moment of your musical journey. On an other note, me and friends have been doing doing virtual listening sessions together once a week. And i am happy to note that we sign off our listening sessions with your "on that note".
Wonderful. Since the first day I saw him at a concert for CTU Chicago always love his dedication to the finer aspects of his carnatic music and his ability to melt our hearts.
Nice to hear your memory. Today while I was listening about bhaghavan Ramana chritam by nochur venkatraman he was elaborating the family. Background of bhaghavan .whether it is sangeetham or sanyasam the family heritage comes as blessings. On that note was simply impressive
Truly a treasure, each one of these narrations and the beautiful nuances that come with it.. Thank you so much for sharing these gems. They will truly enrich our learning and repertoire🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
It was so nicely depicted. Even today there are many would love to hear GNB. Critics can say anything ultimately it is your satisfaction which is important. Looking. Forward for your next episode.
composition of Sanjay Subramanian is spontaneity, versatility, and immense talent . ... I Have been listening to u for many years.... .. ... and a refreshing feel always! God bless you!
Namaskaram sir at the outset fantastic insights. thanks for that. i really wonder why you had kept it so short may be a little more would have been more wonderful. this is my huble request.

Hahahaha! Amazing generational reframe of how the word neoclassical can be interpreted :)
The best version of this song I've heard is your version at the Swati Festival. 😊
Wow ! Still remember the brilliant kalpana swaram of Bhogindra by Sri Sanjay. Thank you again for the OTN.
Nice anectode and usage of notes in a particular way. Thanks to your thatha Sir.

Fantastic. Enjoyed it hugely
My fathers favourite Raga with english notes
I would take neo-classical as a huge compliment, esp in the context of GNB reference and Lalgudi's observation :)
Romba nanna irukku Intha series… Well done, Sanjay.

Interesting......a point for all to consider.....so nice to share this.....
GNB was way too ahead of his times Sanjay Anna. The subtle hint at the end on GNB wasn't missed though!
Wonderful. Since the first day I saw him at a concert for CTU Chicago always love his dedication to the finer aspects of his carnatic music and his ability to melt our hearts.
Narration in a nutshell. Very enjoyable experiences.

@@indusuryanarayan5879 Thanks. I requested for translation since I don't understand Tamil. So, who am I to correct you 😊

Superb story. Heard you sing this krithi in concerts.
several times
Sri. GNB faced unjustified criticisms during his days. There are lot of things that he could do, which others could not.
Quite interesting to hear 👍
Finally, at last, I couldn't understand ! 👍🏾👍🏾
Sir please say about Kancheevaram Venkatavarathan a great genius. We enjoy his concerts more than 15 years at Lagudi.

Impressive
Aahaa .....
What’s neo classical style
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Who is GNB that he was referring to in this video?
G N Balasubramaniam, a legendary classical singer..
🙏
Loved the song , but couldn’t understand the final punch dialogue as I cant understand Tamil
Why not turn on the English subtitles, in that case?
'எதிரிகள்'.....'பாதிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கா.....' 'NMN'.......!!!!!.....ஹூம்......!!!!!
Yes this is what i found perplexing too. பாதிக்கப்படுவது - can mean impacted. But why எதிரிகள்?
@@AnanthNat NMN அவர்களின் விமரிசனம் அப்படி.....!!!
ரொம்ப, Suspence - ஆ
இருக்கு ஸார்
Sir does this sound like Kuntalavarali:
