  • Follow along as Mike from The Geek Pub shows how to make this super cool Dry Ice Powered Mini Fog Machine.
    Have you ever wanted your very own fog machine for a dance party or for a halloween decoration effect? Well now you can. It's cheap and easy to make, and small enough that you can hide it behind just about anything. This little fog machine really pours out the fog. It uses nothing but hot water and dry ice and will last for hours!
    NOTICE: Dry-ice can be dangerous and cause frost bite in seconds. Be sure to handle it only when wearing gloves! You assume all risks.

    How long does the fogger work? Specifically, how often do you have to replace the hot water and how often do you have to put in new ice?

    The downside to using your "dry ice" fog machine, is that dry ice puts off CO2 ..you should NOT use this in a closed space. I'm surprised you didn't mention this in your video. Gloves with dry ice is important yes, (I'm glad you covered that), but the other important thing people need to know is that dry ice off gasses CO2. Safety first! ;)

      Dry ice is actually frozen carbon dioxide and when you inhale it it will act as us breathing out, but actually we're taking it in ;)

    I have a question for you re your homemade dry ice fog machine
    We bought a used RV and it has a leak in the freshwater holding tank. We have put water in to try to locate the leak. This makes a flippin mess.
    We were wondering if we could use a hair dryer on low to blow the fog out as we do not have a fan?
    And if dry ice fov would be safe to use in this application?

    GREAT,! But tell me, is it freezing the room after few minutes? Everithing will be wet? Where I can find dry ice?

    • @TheGeekPub
      @TheGeekPub  9 лет назад

      It will not change the temperature of the room. It will add a little humidity to the room, but hardly enough to notice. Dry ice is at the grocery store.

    Doesn't this only last 4-5 minutes and then you have to reheat the water again? When I tried it without the fan, it stayed strong like your video for about 1 minute, then much less fog for the remaining 4, then close to nothing.

    Most DJ gigs tend to be about 4 hours, lets say from 6pm-10pm. If I set this up and don't turn it on until later on.... say 7:30pm will its effects be diminished? Or perhaps WHEN should I set this up... immediately before I need to use it?

    • @TheGeekPub
      @TheGeekPub  9 лет назад

      DJ Tony Vito It only lasts about 20 to 30 minutes before the dry ice melts. You can make this same machine using a trash bin though and a lot more water and dry ice. I'm sure that would last longer.

      @@TheGeekPub wouldn’t the water in the big bin be not boiling and cause the fog to disappear?
      I want to do this outside but it’s cold and not able to keep hot water going

    how to turn your room into a gas chamber

    • @TheGeekPub
      @TheGeekPub  8 лет назад +1

      This is false. One pound of dry ice will produce about 8.3 cubic feet of carbon dioxide gas. That's hardly a danger unless your running it inside a dog house.

    • @kerberossi
      @kerberossi 8 лет назад

      TheGeekPub
      10% of carbon dioxide content in the air is enough to cause unconsciousness and death, while 2% is enough to experience negative symptoms such as drowsiness. If anything, do put a warning explaining how this should be used with special treatment.

    • @TheGeekPub
      @TheGeekPub  8 лет назад

      Dude I get it. 8.3 cubic feet is not even close to 1% of the cubic volume of a home. And that is if you use a full pound of the stuff. My little machine used a about 3 or 4 ounces of the stuff over 30 minutes. I appreciate your concerns, but your overreacting.

    • @kerberossi
      @kerberossi 8 лет назад

      TheGeekPub
      I understand, but you never know when someone slow-witted could try breathing from the machine. It's not like the carbon dioxide diffuses immediately, especially if used in closed room, too. Just saying, it's worth mentioning :p
