I want to thank you for saving my Glacier80. I've watched this video, got it released, and loved it. 1 month later I received my Glacier80 wanting to build a foamless Cherry MX Black build. The board disappointed me because the sound was dead. After trying every foam config with every switch I own, I couldn't get it to sound the way I wanted it to. I tried for a whole week to fix the sound, but I got fed up and tried to sell it. Thankfully, this video showed up in my feed again and I watched it. Taping the flex cuts saved me from selling my board and now I have the sound I want. I didn't want the muted PC plate, so I ordered a custom aluminum plate too. Thank you.
i kinda like the dunk sound you get on some of the keys with test 5, not too muted, and not too clacky, but i also cant say much because i dont actually hear it as it is irl
i think people are started to get too used to the foam sound. i personally think that with alu plate, no foam and the taped flex cuts it sounds the best. It's not hollow imo, it has character
It's fucking hollow LOL. Stop giving expensive boards slack for sounding shit because it has "character." Keychron comes out with a board that sounds like this stock and people hate on it, some random designer makes a keyboard like this or the Iron 180 and people eat that shit up. It's not even that people have gotten used to foam, there are tons of foam less boards that sound MILES better than this board (gingko, sangeo, frog, even the fucking bakeneko), and even a budget board that is supposed to be used with foam (Qk65) sounds miles better than this board without foam. Want a board that sounds like this? Wait for the keychron Alice layout and remove the gaskets. Tell me it has character, too.
@@user-kz9rz8ui1c the frog was hollow ,the Sangeo was hollow without force break and the qk65 sounds like bull honky without some of foams. I’m not saying this against any of these boards, but I do think the bear sounds nice. Also the q1 was fucking pingy, and much worse stock so you can’t really make that comparison. I’m not saying this is a perfect board by any means but similar to other midrange boards like the frog and sangeo it does sound like your hearing the switch and plate that you put in as opposed to a fully modded q1 or qk65, which sounds like pe foam with a side of keyboard. Overall, this is my preference, but I do think this board sounds good with no foams, really old school. As opposed to a q1 with mods and no foam, it sounds ok but kinda boring imo Also, this board even with no foams sounds much better than ur goofy q1 with jwick t1 frankenswitches and tape mod and all that bullshit lol 😂
@@scufed LOL. It's crazy that you can call the sangeo and the frog hollow and claim this board has "character". The Q1 sounded exactly like this, the difference is at least the Q1 stopped pinging with force break, this one has no easy fix. This board is actually horrible, the frog sounds actual miles ahead of this board, I'd go as far as saying that the fbtkl sounds better, and I absolutely hate how that board sounds. Also watch taehas Qk65 build with no foam and Alu Plate. It sounds really good, much better than whatever the fuck this is.
@@scufed fix your damn ears I literally am having trouble understanding how you think this sounds REMOTELY the same as a sangeo or a frog. Look up the sound tests again, they sound a million times better with a fraction of the work.
just built mine and you can't be any more wrong. I used no foam and no tape, and used long poles on aluminum plate. absolutely fantastic clack. can't be more satisfied.
So who wants to spend $350 to $400 and then have to go and do force break mod mod and tape mod? When you can do the same thing with a keychron Q8 for half the cost

for sure all the pc configs sound hollow af and bad and you kinda need tape for like poppiness and not being dead
because of the quite sound signature with the polycarb plate this could be one of the best boards to use silent switches on

Not sure why there's such a fixation on flex. My favorite sounding and feeling boards are top mount full alu plate boards; the spacebars sound great!
