- A historic Italian Navy vessel, the Amerigo Vespucci, is visiting from the European nation and anchored at the Port of Los Angeles where people are welcome to come aboard. Captain Giuseppe Lai takes KCAL News on a tour of the ship's antique interiors and gives more insight into how visitors can see the vessel for themselves.
Most beautiful ship in the world, folks.
I thought it was the mayflower?LMFAO
@@user-lp1jw9bo5y 😁It still exists?
@@user-lp1jw9bo5y Ew, no.
Interesting enough, in 1962 the captain of USS Independence declared the Amerigo Vespucci "the most beautiful ship in the world" while the two ships went by in the Mediterranean sea.
In 2022, after 60 years, it was the USS George Bush that crossed the route with Amerigo Vespucci and its captain renewed the title: "After 60 years your are still the most beautiful ship in the world!".
Amerigo Vespucci: _ara ara_
Dichiarazioni inventate
If you would have taken a couple of minutes to show how the ship looks like from the outside, it would have been easy for the audience to understand why it is considered the most beautiful ship in the world.
Amerigo Vespucci, the man who named America himself.
and colombo the columbo tv series
America was named AFTER Amerigo Vespucci, he wasn’t the one to name it.
Is a joke, right?
Well, in either cases, you American owe your name to one of the most important Sailor in history, if sailor is annappropriate word for him. He was annesxplorer who circumnavigate all the actual central and south america

Went and saw it on Monday and I can confirm… quite beautiful.
The casual way in which he stated they doubled the Horn...
If you have the chance, go see her on board. But it's even more beautiful to see her while sailing with her sails unfolded. I am Italian, I visited it, a few years ago, at the port of Civitavecchia, near Rome where I live.
It's interesting to know that The "Amerigo Vespucci" was designed in 1930 by engineer Francesco Rotundi, lieutenant colonel of the Naval Engineers and director of the Royal Shipyards of Castellammare di Stabia (near Naples), taking up the designs of the sailing ship "Monarca", the flagship of the Royal Navy of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
none....it was made by french
I'm proud to say that my friend Alberto Parma will be on board.
Good luck Alberto from italian land ❤.
Omg if it's free, im gonna see it 💯🤗
What if they ask you 3$, are you going back home?
It's a shame that it is no longer flanked as it once was by its sister ship, the Crisforo Colombo, which was sold to the then Soviet Union due to war damage; today they would have been a unique couple in the world!
Will be there Friday evening.
PLEASE SHOW SOME LOVE TO THIS ITALIAN SHIP WHILE IT IS IN PORT. IN LOS ANGELES. THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!!!
Visited on 2019, port of Ancona, IT. Great piece of art.
Done in Castellamare di Stabia. The iconic shipyard giving birth to the beautiful Gozzo :)
My daddy would've taken me to see it , miss u daddy , every single day , rest easy, and trust me , I GOT MOMMY 💯 😌🙏🫶🫵💪
go there
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
What does the ship look like??????
Just close-ups of the deck.
I had to go to FOX 11 to see what the whole ship
A three mast ship
Lovely❤❤
Btw, Amerigo Vespucci I believe is the namesake for the continent called "America". Not for the United States as many use it interchangeably
It's called America because it takes its name from Amerigo. An Italian discovered it, another gave it its name, let's say that America is an Italian affair
@@Danielreds
Discovered? The natives knew they were there
@@Danielreds The name America was given by a German referring to Amerigo, but absolutely not by Amerigo Vespucci itself, who was still the first to realize that continent was not Asia. And Cristoforo Colombo was working for the Spanish Royals.
@@Danielreds And another Giovanni Caboto (aka John Cabot) brought the English exploration and settlement, not to mention all western civilization/culture came from Italy.
My buddy Salvatore Mazzella who now live in Yonkers NY served on this ship from 1951 to 1955 and got pics to prove it.
Meravigliosa! L' Amerigo Vespucci è un'opera d'arte. ❤️🇮🇹
There was a twin ship, named Colombo. It was given to the USSR after WW2 as a reparation to the winning countries. After using it as a training ship, just like the Amerigo, the USSR did not carry out maintenance, transformed it into a merchant ship to transport wood, which eventially caught fire, damaging the ship for good. It was demolished around the 70's
The Colombo also had a painting on boars of Columbus landing in Salvador, the night before the ship got delivered to the ussr a bunch of italian navy veterans sneaked on board and stole it, now it's on the Vespucci snd it's the only thing left of the Colombo
Well she forgot to say, probably she doesnt even know, that Amerigo vespucci is the one who gave his name to your continent: AMERICA: the land of AMERIGO
America was named AFTER Vespucci, he wasn’t the one to name it
@@mr.archivity Doesnt matter, the point is That America is called this way in honour to Amerigo

I cannot believe they were not able to show the stunning vessel in the footage. I hope it is only a part of the news ….

Amergio Vespucci
The Amerigo Vespucci came with a sister ship, the "Cristoforo Colombo". Unfortunately the latter was handed over to the Soviet Union as part of the war reparations demanded by the 1947 Paris Peace Treaty and those useless people managed to total her
Beautiful piece of art. Pity Stalin requested the sister of the Amerigo Vespucci, the Cristoforo Colombo as reparation.
The soviets had no usage for it, they ended up using it like a barge to carry wood logs, before to scrap it in one of the shipyards in nowaday Ukraine.
Why no view from the outside? This journalist just wanted to show her nice "heini". Not the ship.
Madonna mia non si può sentire Amerigo Vespucci pronunciato da un'americana 🤣 il bello che la signora dal cognome ha pure origini italiane probabilmente.
Amerigo vespucci is actually why the american continent is called America.

A very beautiful ship. It is a very rare opportunity to see it and board it.
Was a worth the line, and as a bonus, the Frecce Tricolori will be there on the 6th doing a quick airshow. I was lucky enough to have seen their fly by a couple of days ago.

I don't like the interviewer, she was very abrupt and pushy. Very typical Italian-American.
This is the typical silly stereotype.
