"They're not my convictions, they're yours"
"Oh yeah, I forgot".
I love this show! 😂
Lincoln is on the penny and Illinois was his adopted state. Ergo you can use the penny in Illinois toll booths.
Or you could, anyway. Back then. Not anymore.
Also the speaker was from Illinois so the vote would never have passed. And that was the only excuse Sam needed.
Still, sounds like a silly reason to keep something so costly
@potterpotty01 funny how one person can keep something so useless in circulation just because of symbolism
@@jsnrvsttotally useless today
I would love to have more of these interactions between hoynes and Bartlett they are funny 🤣
You can tell it's single camera because he's holding the umbrella up in one shot and down in the other lol
Sam would make a great President…
If network TV wants to make a comeback, a new version of The West Wing, with Sam as President, or a candidate, would be an amazing show. One can dream.
Everyone in that show besides CJ and Charlie would be terrible as President. And that includes Bartlett's 12-year old granddaughter Annie.
@@backwashjoe7864 That’s interesting. Most of them have a tendency towards self-righteousness, as do many compassionate but meritocratic liberals nowadays.
Justin Trudeau views himself as Sam Seaborn.
As noted by CBC:
In 2012, the federal government announced that the Royal Canadian Mint will stop producing the penny and stop distributing pennies in Canada as of February 4, 2013
And I still have a bunch of them. So there.
Thank you so much for these x
small fact. A penny minted before 1982, has about 3 cents worth of copper in it. The conversion Sam mentioned happened in 1982, where 97% of a penny is now nickel.
You are partially correct.
It's 97.5% zinc, not 97% nickel; the price of nickel is almost double that of copper, it wouldn't make any sense to replace the copper in a penny with nickel.
It's like you didn't watch the video at all
@@wormfood868 my bad, you are of course correct.
"Changing that one word means law enforcement can decide who gets a concealed weapon and when and where they can carry it."
Two points: First, changing that one word means law enforcement can decide who gets a concealed weapon *permit*, not who gets a concealed weapon. Second, he says that like it's a good thing.
I think Sam let the penny cloud a quarter of his own judgement
We shouldn't eliminate the penny. We should eliminate the nickel. I've worked several jobs with cash registers, and it's always been the nickels that move the least.
You can't figure out why that would be a bad idea? Pennies cost a lot to produce. When they get them, people hoard them, and they mostly just get returned to the bank after sitting around for decades. Removing the nickel and keeping the penny would mean that you need to make tons more of them to sit around unused. Nickels don't move because you're only ever going to give people one of them at a time, but remove them, and you'll have to give people five more expensive, useless pennies.
@@dogberry20 Take away the nickel, and people will use the pennies they have a lot more.
they should be magnetic :)
I can see an early glimpse of Chris Traeger in this clip.
Josh ( Bradley) looks ridiculous in the jeans. Wiggling his arse to look sexy…ridiculous.
“Josh Lyman, you have the cutest little butt in Washington!”
“Kenny, that better have been her talking.”
Save the penny
Trash the dime
I agree it’s time to end the penny.
75% of this clip had nothing to do with the penny.
yeah the person running this channel needs to edit better lol. they're mostly just uploading 5 minute segments of episodes
@@iluvsakuraandsyaoran which is weird because it is copyright protected material, so they can't make ad revenue from it anyway.
@@PeterSedesse read the description. This a plug for Max
@@PeterSedesseit can it is owned by the copyright owners. Max is owned by the company that produces this show.
Oh, Speaker sneakers. #AbolishIt
We got rid of the penny in Canada years ago and we're fine.
the states that mine copper and zinc lobby extensively against that
this drives me absolutely insane. the US has NEVER minted a ‘penny’
Funnel people.
it drives you insane to hear people use a colloquial term in casual conversation?
@@SilverCyanthis might be pure ignorance talking here, but who mints the pennies if not the US?
People in the United States have been calling the US 1 cent coin a "penny" since the first minting of the first coin in 1792. I'd have thought you'd have gotten used to it by now.
@@caleraizer He's saying they're cents, not pennies.
