    One of the great advances in modern tai chi is keeping the hands relaxed instead of using the traditional, tight "tile hands". Both Cheng Manching and Bow Sim Mark were criticized for doing that, but today, there is no one serious practitioner who doesn't do it that way! Top notch demonstration from Huangshan Sifu, as always!

      Note that it's different with jian, where having the tiniest amount of tension in the "sword fingers" can be said to provide counterpoint to the blade.
      (Sun style has famous sword forms that use the palm instead of sword fingers, and that's also worth researching. We rarely did it that way, but it made my Sifu happy whenever it was referenced b/c our hsingyi, and much of our internal taiji technique, comes directly from Sun Lutang through "indoor" students:)

      Master Huang Shyan Sheng’s Yang style emphasizes the strong points of each of the major family styles: the spiraling of the Chens, the up and down of the Wu’s and the forwards and backwards of the Yang.
      This was a very nice performance.

    For those wondering why there are small "spin" movements at 7:03, 8:10 and 8:24, which momentarily violate the rules of tai chi, my understanding is that it derives from the great friendship of Yang Chengfu, Sun Lutang, and Fu Zhensong, who exchanged information to improve their respective specialties, and is the reason many traditional internal schools teach taichi/bagua/hsingyi.
    (It can be useful to research how those other two lineages interpret the Yang style tai chi, because each lineage has different innovations and emphases.)

    Please show me two masters doing the same exact same form. Never all forms are concepts. The breathing the stopping with out stopping, the inner principles are the same but the appearance is not. Also each masters demo from day to day are usually just a little different. Not that I am grand master but my Tai Chi changes day to day according to mode or trying to improve. Each bird in a flock looks the same to the untrained eye, but each bird is doing it’s own thing. Nothing worse than copy cat Tai Chi or robot Taichi. Probably what is wrong with the world people not being themselves. But as Alan Watts once pointed out not being yourself is in fact being yourself.

    • @TaichiZhe
      @TaichiZhe  3 года назад

      The difference between various Taijiquan is different in the external style, and the Tai Chi Yin and Yang theory followed is the same.
