- In this video you will learn the basics of a beginner sewing project - an eye pillow. Eye pillows are filled with flax seed and essential dried herbs like lavender, spearmint, chamomile, etc. They are easy and fun to make and they make great gifts!
This is the 3rd video for this project, catch up here:

You will learn how to piece the front of your eye pillow using strips of three different fabrics and how to choose the silky backing of your eye pillow so it goes on smooth and relaxing over your eyelids. This video takes you from choosing your cotton fabrics to prepping your strips for sewing.
In Part 2, you learn how to finish cutting your fabric and prepare the entire project for sewing. This video is Part 3 and here you will learn how to sew your eye pillow together, how to fill it with your herbs, flax seed, rice, etc., and also how to finish it off with a simple hand stitching technique known as a whip stitch.

it is true, you are truly a wonderful clear thoughtful teacher. that is a gift and I'm so glad I found you. Thanks and please continue to teach us!
Thank you for your great tutorial! I have been pouring over videos on RUclips lately trying to teach myself to sew. I love the simple, easy to understand instructions. You're a great teacher!
ran across your video today and I must say you are very good at teaching how to sew this project. as a person who learned to sew from books years ago, I would have loved to had access to your videos. my daughter who is having a little girl, now wants to learn to sew, I am going to recommend your videos to her. we live 10hrs apart so this will help give her a visual. thank you.
Great directions. I'm a visual learner. So it's a big help.
What a wonderful tutorial. Thank you for offering this!
Crafty Gemini! You have a great way to teaching! Thank you :)
Thank you, very good teaching, I found my new sewing teacher! :)
Ms. craftyGemini, thank you so much. I am an illterate in sewing and i just bought a sewing machine two days ago. I don't have the boards and all the materials yet,,,but i cut up a dress and i measured it as best as possible..its not neat or even but..it came out pretty good. lol. I put rice in mine. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. i can't wait to learn other things..
Your very good at teaching this!... Thanks
So happy i found you.. Going to attempt to do this.. Starting off easy just like you said.. My mother in law blessed me with a sewing machine she gave me a few pointers and through me in to actually making a pair Shorts...But my stitching was BAD!! So this is easier until i get familiar.. You are a great teacher.. Thanks
Thanks so much crafty gemini tonight i made two eye pillows for my first go at using my new sewing machine all thanks to ur videos
Dear Crafty Gemini, You are a natural teacher. I have a $500.00 machine and am going to start using it inspired by your eye pillow video. I think I can figure out how to turn it on!
I praise your video because now I feel like I can make absolutely anything!!! My first one turned out amazing- although I don't have a sewing machine-I stitched everything by hand- A great Christmas present to all of the ladies in my family!!! Thank you for putting up your tutorials on here :D
No problem. Good for you! Glad to help with my videos. :o)
this was really helpful thank you lol you put so much effort into these guides, very helpful
For anyone "thinking about" giving it a try-- I just dove in and did it and I just finished my pillow. I am a REEELY green beginner and I managed it with the series of three videos (though I have noticed I need to work on sewing straight a bit). Dont be intimidated, Jump in and give it a try, you will be glad you did!
very well done! thank u a lot. you are a great teacher.
great teacher and im deaf and i can follow video and im beginner thank u
i will look more ur video smile
This inspired me to make an eye mask from an old t-shirt a couple of weeks ago. :P Thanks.
In her video she used flax, lavender and spearmint. In mine I use rice or flax, and lavender essential oil. These are awesome! :) ~Kelley
thanks for posting this =)
@TheWondermom82 lol. Thanks! Glad you think so! Be sure to subscribe to my channel if you like what you see... I post new tutorials every Monday... and I have a ton of beginner projects already posted. Happy sewing!
@Bobbievg Yes. Just make sure you start a little before the actual opening and back stitch and then go a little past the other end of the opening as well and back stitch. That will ensure you get the entire opening without running the risk of having the filling come out. Hope that helps!
Thank you! I have a video called "Sewing Lessons: Getting Started" that will help you get started with your machine in case you need more help. Happy sewing!
Thank you! :o)
@cctheokc50 No problem! Glad I could help! Thank you! :o)
Thanks! Do a search for my "Cutting Basics" video where I go over the cutter and rulers. Hope that helps.
thank you!
You could. But whenever you leave the right angle corners open when you go to stitch it closed it won't look as neat as it would if you did it how I show in the video. If you do it that way just fold in the raw edges and press first to get it as neat as possible before you sew it shut. Hope that helps!
@mekcheeks No prob. :o)
Thank you so much for these videos! Sew simple! ;-) What kind of cutter and rulers do you have? They look so easy to use that I have to get them!!! Please tell me?!?!
Hi Crafty Gemini, thank you for your video.. I am making eye pillows. some straight edge like this one and others with rounded edges around the eyes... As you pivot on the edge on straight , is it the same on rounded edges as i am having issues and it isnt looking good at all.
could I leave a whole end open and then sew it shut with the sewing machine?
Can you go over the opening with your sewing machine to close it?
Can u list the fillings you pore in the eye pillow please?
can we use a machine stitch at last ??
I couldn’t find lesson 2
