Ratatata is undeniably the summer anthem this year, maybe not for mainstream listeners, but for alternative and metal lovers? it sure as heck is. Babymetal and Electric Callboy are made for each other, German EDM Metal (there's many names for their style) combined with Kawaii Metal, it just works... INCREDIBLY well.
I actually find their main singer, Nico, extremely talented. His range is pretty wild, and his actual singing voice is lovely. Their main screamer, Kevin, is also pretty amazing at what he does. One fun fact is that Kevin actually backs up Nico's singing and is a great singer in his own right, while Nico backs up Kevin's screaming as well, and can do great screams. They complement each other well, especially live. Another fun fact. The video is produced by the Schillo Bros, which consists of the guitarist of the band, Pascal Schillo, and his brother Oliver. They kinda had an idea of a video while making the song. Pretty much every part of the music, videos, and shows started out with just them. They even built some of their own video sets, if one goes and watching some of the Behind The Scenes videos. But, of course, with more popularity, they're able to ramp up production a bit more, and can now hire others to do a better job than they do. They love performing live, and they're always thinking of ways to to make it even better for the fans. Its heartbreaking that Mindreader never gets the love it deserves. As much as all of these songs are amazing, Mindreader is honestly one of their best tracks.
Fantastic, Peter! My body would not stay still while listening to this, and it really is not my scene usually. You broaden my musical horizon all the time!
Wow. Never expected to learn so much about electronic dance music from an opera singer. Great reaction, and definitely one of the most instructive ones to this banger... Huge thank you from Germany...
Once again, you've brought me something I would never have watched on my own. Definitely an interesting experience. Loved the R&A, of course. Always something new to learn about a different type of music!
This exact comment is why copyright laws suck. You've just introduced a new person to a great band and alot of bands block this stuff. Electric Callboy are different though. If you watch their channel they love to do reactions of reactions making them extra awesome.
@WarcraftOhio It's not my kind of music, so unless Peter does more reactions, I won't be listening to them. I just find it interesting how much there is to the breakdown (the vocal techniques and music styles) even with this type of music.
I couldn't agree more, Eileen! Not my cup of tea, but I love hearing about all the nitty gritty happening. Always so interesting, when Peter breaks it down for us.
I love your perspective and knowledge on the electronic side, especially :) Thanks for that analysis! Very interesting! Other reactors usually focus more on the heavier metal parts, which I'm already more familiar with anyway, so you definitely added to my EC experience with this reaction/analysis! Awesome, and thanks!
Just a side note: They listen to hardstyle before their shows to get in the right mood. Also during setting up a venue, techno is running via loudspeakers. Check Tank the Tech vlogs about their Europe tour. You gonna love it.
Fantastic breakdown! Greatly appreciated! I love Electric Callboy, their latest release together with Babymetal (Ratatata) is also amazing! As is their whole catalogue!
Great reaction!👏👏👏 Elisabeth and Will Ramos did a reaction to "We got the moves".🙂 The song was written and filmed during the C restrictions ("...We need no clubs...") and because it was work related they could first time met up with friends again and have a little partyyy during the video shot.

“Yesterday we drank too much let’s do it again” Omg it’s an irish drinking song. “Now everybody’s died so until our tears have dried let’s Drink and drink and Drink and drink and Drink and drink some more! Let’s dance and sing and fight Until the early morning light Then we’ll Throw up Pass out wake up and then go drinking once again!”
Finally Peter! I was waiting for this one! This band just makes me happy and this sing is one of my favourites of theirs! Great choice! And great reaction! 🌷
Electric Callboy are the most entertaining band in the world right now, not put out a bad song in last 3 years and live shows just a massive rave of metal & EDM riffs that fill audiences with a euphoria 😄🤘
I'm so surprised you haven't heard these guys before. Definitely one of my favorite bands right now. They're so good, dude. Newest song is a collab with Babymetal, too! Definitely gotta check that one out
Seen them twice in concert over the past year and they are just as good live. I would suggest Hypa Hypa, Spaceman, Pump it, Everytime We Touch, Hurikkan, MC Thunder 1 and 2, Arrow of Love, Tekkno Train and they just released a new song with Baby Metal Ratatata thats a banger.
Finally! 🎉 I was waiting for you to react to EC. ❤😊 Their transitions between the different parts are so smooth. Love the production on their songs. There are actually two singers who do both harsh and clean singing. But Kevin, the tall one, does mainly the harsh vocals. And Nico, the short one, is their main clean vocalist. Btw: That was a cocktail in the beginning! And Nico was licking the bush. 😜 The pony had a Pony (German word for bangs) And the bodybuilder said: What’s going on here? P**s off you rags! (losers/weaklings) All of their songs are awesome. But THE workout song is: Pump It (there is the regular version and a velvet version which is pure pop. The velvet version might be a cooldown song.) Other songs to try - Tekkno train (very sexy lyrics) - Spaceman (collab with a German rapper) - Castrop x Spandau (Kalle Koschinsky x Electric Callboy, German, super fun) - Hypa Hypa (crazy, has 6 covers by other bands worth checking out too) - Everytime we touch (Cascada cover) - Arrow of Love - MC Thunder (with their old clean singer) - Hurrikan ( You might want to wait with this one, the song contains German Schlager and that genre is painfully corny) Then there are the more serious, but still awesome songs: - Mindreader - Hate/Love - Crystals - Fckboi - Parasite And their newest collab with Babymetal might be the catchiest song ever - Ratatata I was never into harsh vocals, but they made me reconsider! ❤
EC reactions are my favorite RUclips category. An insane wall of sound attacking and never letting up along with cycling through styles. Plus ridiculously funny videos. The combination blows the mind
Now, if you want to see an entirely different side of EC, check out either Prism (almost all cleans) or Mindreader (a considerably less 'funny' song). But really, everything they do is golden. Oh, and they recently (about a month ago now) did a collaboration with Babymetal called Ratatata. Definitely check that out. Nico and Su-metal can blend amazingly, and Momometal doing harsh vocals back and forth with Kevin is a joy to the ears.
So great to see you reacting to these guys- some of my absolute favorites. Theres's nothing quite like super talented musicians who don't take themselves too seriously. Please react to their cover of Everytime We Touch!
Quick comment re: techno & guitars. There was a lot of crossover in the late 80s/early 90s, both in what was early UK techno (eg 808 State) and industrial music, a lot of which came out of Germany and Belgium.
All of the other suggestions are great, i want to add ' mind reader ' because its a more serious tone and also awesome, but just another example of range.
You also have to check out Every Time We Touch and Ratatata (very new, but crazy good; I really like the official video, but the live music video from Fox_Fest is also great)
Thank you for describing this all in much more detail, Ive heard this song 100x and love it but you actually helped to break down the WHY I like it and its super interesting!
The newer videos are produced by Schillo Brothers. Its the guitarist and his Brother doing the Video Production. EC goes a long way back. Even 10yrs old stuff with their former Clean Vocalist Sushi is still amazing. Electric Callboy - Best Day (feat. Sido) was released 9yrs ago. You will notice many similarities to their recent songs on the TECHNO Alben.
Two vocalists my friend….. KEVIN… Taller does heavy screaming mostly and some singing too. NICO shorter does more clean melodic singing but can also scream, they are the perfect compliment to one another
They are amazing live, super fun and very grateful to the public, there were entire families watching them, children carried on the shoulders of their parents and grandparents... amazing, this was at the Resurrection Fest, but I suppose it is the same all over the world, not to be missed.
Their name is a great representation of how chill these guys are, and i mean how they changed their name to electric callboy. They did a whole sit down with a historian and changed eskimo to electric after being informed the unsavory history of the name. All up front and in the open with their fans.
Last year they did a DJ-set at the Wacken Festival, being a metal-core band :-D During the shows the two vocalists do clean and harsh harmonies (didn't even know that's a thing).
The pony in the video is a joke that directly correlates to the hairstyle. I believe I read that the style of haircut they are rocking in the video translates as "pony" in German.
@2.10 It's a COCKtail There are two singers. Nico (the short one) does (mostly) clean vocals, and hits those high notes. Kevin (the ridiculously tall one) does (mostly) harsh vocals and has the deeper voice, although both guys do both styles in the background. (You can see them and their respective heights when when they're kneeling next to the pony, or when Kevin is standing behind Nico in the buildup to the breakdown. Kevin standing behind Nico while they both sort-of dance is a common motif in their videos.) The video is by the Schillo Bros (Oscar and Pascal), one of whom (Pascal) is also in the band (one of the guitarists). @12:45 Everyone who steps on the 'grass' gets a bowlcut. Even the pony. The pony has a blonde mane (you can see it behind the black bowlcut). The 'angry man' at the end doesn't get the bowl because he never steps out of the caravan.
Loved the reaction... wont lie though damn near had a brain aneurism with how much we were stopping during that INSANE breakdown lmao we got there though so its all good lol.... gonna go take care of a nosebleed, prolly unrelated lol.
- i want to dive deeper into harsh vocals... - oh! i have to tell you about Elizabeth! - Elizabeth, friend of mine, who runs The Charismatic Voice chainnel... - oh nevermind
Great Reaction. But i think the best workout Song is "Pump it", and the Anthem of the Summer is "Ratatata" (50/50 Collab with Babymetal). Check it out. You will not be disappointed. Greetings from Germany :)
Hi Peter, I just visited your page and WOW very impressive! I liked the stair well! This reaction was done 3 days ago so I hope you are able to read this comment. Forgive me that's more like a book! 🤣❤ I noticed that you haven't done any more Gabriel Henrique covers. If I may recommend, I Want To Know What Love Is on a roof top with choir and band. The original is by Foreigner but he's doing the Mariah Carey version. He takes his whistle a little higher. You're the expert. I'm curious as to what you think. He's so talented. I wish you had the time to react to some more of his covers. Recommendations, Stand Up on a roof top with choir and band, Something Beautiful again with choir and band not the AGT version. I'm being specific of location because he did the songs in different locations. He sang some of these in his car. Yes! His car! Seems there were some "haters" who said he was using auto tunes and what ever else is used to enhance singing these days. It's hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣 I don't know if anyone has given you a real back story on him. Sang before he talked! First time in front of audience at 7. He is a Gospel Singer hence the choirs. He's in his element with them. He's a PK! Grew up in the church. His dad is the pastor and the musical director at the church. Bottom line, Gabriel's voice is gift from God which he acknowledges. He most recently did a feature on Natalie Grant's A Luz Te Entratrara (You Will Be Found). She is a Contemporary Christian singer who learned Portuguese to do the song in his language. Thank you for your time and patience. ❤❤❤
So, as a metal and edm enthuasiast. This band has made the best of both worlds tbh. Whichbi know i you said you arent a fan of hardstyle but i am. (Yes i understand, sullivan king and excision did very well in twrms of the headbanging electro metal). But this is a very sifferent take from them when it come to fulfilling the roll of party core. Electric callboy is german which to no surprise, hardstyle is way more popular innthe european countries then here in america. Anyways you should explire more cuz they are expanding and they arent stopping any time soon😊
Peter, Cool that you noticed the party-goers all having new haircuts once they entered "the party"--did you notice the miniature horse's haircut/do at 8:24 and 9:24 in your video (1:06 and 1:24 in the Callboy original)?? :) I love all the little details throughout the video.
Most people spot the tiny finger hands holding the mic, but every instrument in the video was downsized to kids scale as part of the comedy bit. Also in German the name for that bowl cut is the same as pony, so of course they got a pony with a wig on set.
OK that was fantastic. How the heck do you have such a great voice and can do such imitations at the same time? That was great. Can you be booked? I come from the international agency sector and always save voices like that immediately. Thank you very much. :D
An absolutely wild and whacky first experience with this group! Couldn’t have enjoyed it any more 😂🤘🏼 what else from them do I need to see?
Definitely should check out their collab with Babymetal “Ratatata”

You will notice many similarities to their recent songs on the TECHNO Alben.
that bass beatbox you doing nailing it man!! damnnn
You might like Pump It, it's all about the gym life!!
If Germany had send this one to the Eurovision Songcontest, they would have won!
Electric Callboy is most definitely a rabbit hole you should go down!!!
I'll never not love this song
That second half of the breakdown was pretty much a straight core breakdown more than dubstep with maybe some electronic overlay.
Yeah, i feel almost zero dubsteb there..
Two vocalists my friend…..
KEVIN… Taller does heavy screaming mostly and some singing too. NICO shorter does more clean melodic singing but can also scream, they are the perfect compliment to one another
I saw them live at Pol’and’Rock Festival and it was an absolute blast.
They are amazing live, super fun and very grateful to the public, there were entire families watching them, children carried on the shoulders of their parents and grandparents... amazing, this was at the Resurrection Fest, but I suppose it is the same all over the world, not to be missed.
Nice studio!! 🎉
Thank you, Eileen! You’re the best
@@PeterBarber Gotta keep the lights - and the a/c! - on in the new studio.
Will we get more EPIC reactions? 😅
Sorry if its been asked already, haven't found anything about it
Great and inforned reaction. A pleasure to listen to.
More Electric callboy plizzzz 😎👌
Their name is a great representation of how chill these guys are, and i mean how they changed their name to electric callboy. They did a whole sit down with a historian and changed eskimo to electric after being informed the unsavory history of the name. All up front and in the open with their fans.
for more electronic music mixed in with metal, The Browning is a MUST
Last year they did a DJ-set at the Wacken Festival, being a metal-core band :-D
During the shows the two vocalists do clean and harsh harmonies (didn't even know that's a thing).
Epic!!!!!!! Dude this reminds me of music videos from highschool days. Just hilarious and amazing. ❤ Rock on!
Do more of them! ❤
Great reaction and nice musical insight. 👍🏻🤘🏻
great reaction, learned some stuff about electronic music.
Get your mind out of the gutter, it is a COCKTAIL, not a d-shaped Glas.
😂
this
you may like their cover of hypa hypa! im so glad you covered them
The pony in the video is a joke that directly correlates to the hairstyle. I believe I read that the style of haircut they are rocking in the video translates as "pony" in German.
Always enjoy listening to your reaction/analysis. This music is not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate the skill anyway.
Their cover of Everytime we touch. Its an experience
You have to listen to Lorna Shore sun//eater next 🖤
@2.10 It's a COCKtail
There are two singers. Kevin standing behind Nico while they both sort-of dance is a common motif in their videos.)
The video is by the Schillo Bros (Oscar and Pascal), one of whom (Pascal) is also in the band (one of the guitarists).
@12:45 Everyone who steps on the 'grass' gets a bowlcut. Even the pony. The pony has a blonde mane (you can see it behind the black bowlcut). The 'angry man' at the end doesn't get the bowl because he never steps out of the caravan.
You mean Oscar whose name is actually Oliver?
If you go to their we got the moves denver I'm in that music video like 6 times. Love it
"As chill as this song gets, which is not very chill". So accurate. Until the pool float reprieve, but still tracks.
Loved the reaction... wont lie though damn near had a brain aneurism with how much we were stopping during that INSANE breakdown lmao we got there though so its all good lol.... gonna go take care of a nosebleed, prolly unrelated lol.
There's a YT short of Nico singing crawling by Linkin Park that gives me chills
man, you accually know what are you talking about...im kinda surprised. subbed
- i want to dive deeper into harsh vocals...
- oh! i have to tell you about Elizabeth!
- Elizabeth, friend of mine, who runs The Charismatic Voice chainnel...
- oh nevermind
Pascal (one of the guitarist) and his brother produce like +90% of all their videos. So the videos are basically completely produce in house.
Man you could make a fortune as an Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonator, the last german accent was so on point, loved it :)
Great Reaction. But i think the best workout Song is "Pump it", and the Anthem of the Summer is "Ratatata" (50/50 Collab with Babymetal). Check it out. You will not be disappointed. Greetings from Germany :)
I love their whole back catalogue, a favourite band of mine as is GHØSTKID 🤩
If you want an Electric Callboy melodic arrangement, please check out their cover of Everytime We Touch. Melodic but still hysterical!😊
aaaaaa please do more 😍
10 rules of techno would also ge a very fitting video as an "excursion"
Funny fact, most of their clips is done by Schillo Brothers, and one of the brothers is a gitarist in the band
Hi Peter, I just visited your page and WOW very impressive! I liked the stair well! This reaction was done 3 days ago so I hope you are able to read this comment. Forgive me that's more like a book! 🤣❤
I noticed that you haven't done any more Gabriel Henrique covers.
I don't know if anyone has given you a real back story on him.
Hypa Hypa and Everytime We Touch!
As an opera singer, you must react to Unleash the Archers. Their singer Brittney Slayes is out of this world.
It‘s a Cocktail!
Their newest song, Ratata is this years summer anthem :)
Peter,
Cool that you noticed the party-goers all having new haircuts once they entered "the party"--did you notice the miniature horse's haircut/do at 8:24 and 9:24 in your video (1:06 and 1:24 in the Callboy original)?? :) I love all the little details throughout the video.
that song is addictive
Most people spot the tiny finger hands holding the mic, but every instrument in the video was downsized to kids scale as part of the comedy bit. Also in German the name for that bowl cut is the same as pony, so of course they got a pony with a wig on set.
Summer workout! you've not been near "Pump it" then 🤣
OK that was fantastic. How the heck do you have such a great voice and can do such imitations at the same time?
That was great. Can you be booked? I come from the international agency sector and always save voices like that immediately. Thank you very much. :D
