The high end chef was cool as hell, love that he tells fisherman to toss back pregnant blue crabs.
Well it is easy if you are charging 180usd in Cambodia for a days work.
@@Areola-Grande lol literally
Most fisherman unfortunately are not well-educated. Sustainability is a foreign concept.
Crazy to see Savi You on here. I've watched his family vlogs for a few years now. Him and his brothers always talked about channels like this and how it would be cool to be on one....he spoke it into existence
My first time seeing him, he seems to be a nice guy

Cambodia is high on our list of countries to visit! The street food looks outstanding.
It's just amazing. Love Cambodian food. Siem reap, Phnom Penh, KongBattambang and the coastal regions, all have different street foods. Its quite nice.
No one asked
Don't, take my word for it. The dangers outweigh the semi decent food. I've been there and will never go back.

I'd also like to. I'm Cambodian and my grandparents are both from Cambodia. I'd like to go there to explore my culture and grow more familiar with it, as well as possibly meet my great aunt who lives there too

Those dishes look mouthwatering! The thing that i love the most about Cambodia is that the food are cheap and tasty at the same time 😋
Ya mouth watering besides the fact that there's going to be nothing left for anybody to eat in a year because they're taking it all
@@ericharris5299 lol don’t speak if you’ve never actually been there, any effects from overfishing would only be noticed maybe 20, 30 years from now and by that time stricter regulations will have been put in place. Cambodia is a pretty small country with a small population and there are only a handful of small piers like this across the coastal areas the country has. Fishing a few thousand crabs everyday is not a problem when each female crab that does survive can make hundreds of thousands of eggs to go on and reproduce themselves. And it’s not like the crabs are being extremely heavily fished and exported to other countries, they are collected by a few fishing boats and are only enjoyed by locals and tourists that visit the area.
@@ericharris5299exactly thats what i was thinking. Actually combodia is a third world country and In most third world countries governments are corrupted to the point where they dont give importance to human life let alone animals. I visited many third world countries including the biggest “ india” i saw how things work there how ppl live in such bad conditions, government and cops dont really work for the country but their only motive is to take bribes from criminals and gangster so they can run their illegal business in peace. Most locals are hopeless, point is that if these countries dont care about human life what makes you think that they would do any good for wildlife? Theres no use to explain them bc i tired and they asked me to let us do our work.
That woman was being filmed and still played yall on buying the more expensive and worst tasting crabs 😂😂😂😂. She is a straight hustler.
almost 10 years ago, i asked if you could go Cambodia to a reviews and you responded, you would love to go. But then your drone was apprehended. I'm so glad you went back and did a full tour of the country i come from. Additionally, as a Baltimorian and blue crab lover...nay, obsessor. Thank you for highlighting the sponge crab situation there. I don't mind catching females (sooks as we call them in MD), but sponge crabs are critical in sustaining a healthy population. While Cambodia doesn't have strong policy to enforce the prevention of catching sponge crabs, let's use the most powerful tool we have....SHAME!
How?
Not just crab tho, pretty much every seafood
These people need to feed there families, the government wont help, if there are no other well paid opportunities how can people survive. I value human life over a crab any day of the week. If that means there wont be any crabs left so be it.
@Mr-fe5ng
Dude shut up, there's 1001 things they can catch there.
Limiting the catch to male sponge crabs only will not make anyone starve. If anything it'll raise the price and make it a delicacy, allow the fishermen to make a bit more money.
@@dtraindaimyo3377 Your behaviour is pretty bad. Why would I engage with you when you are such a rude individual.
Shout out from Philippines
You've got a knack for this, loving your content!
we need a whole episode of Sonny getting scammed 😂
😂 because that was wrong
I actually appreciate when creators show when and how they were scammed. It's helpful when others like me travel to those regions. I value the content for that reason, not to take joy from watching others get scammed.
@@ResinAlchemist2024 I don’t take joy in him being scammed but it’s good to see how easily other countries can take advantage of naive tourists. I know he doesn’t want to be negative towards the countries he visits but it is the dangerous reality of traveling in many countries

It’s hard to tell poor people to conserve nature when they have hungry mouths to feed, sad reality of life. Sunny and his team always does a great job in explaining culture is a non judgmental type of way. So happy you haven’t sold this product to the food network!
The downside, they'll run out of resources if they don't try to manage and conserve. Problem is, it's just hard to balance.
Am really loving this Sonny and Savi collaboration, and those JUMBO tiger prawns, as well as those crabs, are the stuff of my food heaven 🤤

Sonny, Better Help is an absolute terribele company.. theyre predatory and they make it extremely hard to swap therapists and cancel your subscription... i really wish people would vet their sponsors...
not to mention they have a huge controversy regarding the fact that they dont have certified psychiatrists like they claim, over 1/3rd of their "trained proffesionals" are just people in a call center with high school degrees as their highest schooling....
better help altogether is a scam company and theres loooots of proof of this... like the current lawsuits against betterhelp.
please, do better for your channel than supporting a scam sonny
As a native of Maryland it's weird to see female crabs with eggs attached being harvested for consumption. I would guess they don't care about sustainable practices in Cambodia. It's sad that the next generation of fishermen might not have these populations sustained in the future.
i was at Kep and Kampot last year and had a great time, and the crab we had at Kampot was pretty good.
thank you so much from Cambodia

Looked delicious. Thank you Sonny 💕💕💕
Right, I always throwback anything that appears pregnant or full of eggs. It really doesn't matter what the species is. In the West coast of the USA, it has been the law for Dungeness crabs for decades now. Not only are you not allowed to keep gravid females you aren't allowed to keep any female Dungeness crabs only males. This has resulted in a sustainable fishery. I believe there are similar rules on the East coast related to Maine lobsters.
Most of these people don’t really have a choice…
@@Sniperboy5551I believe it's less to do with choice and more to do with lack of awareness
