  • Well i hope this helps people to keep their workshop warm so they can use it all year round, i was using a oil filled rad to heat the workshop but as we know electric prices aren't cheap. I was watching youtube and came across a video where someone was using one of these heaters to heat the workshop so i had a light bulb moment and here we are.
    *kw pre heater from eBay was under £100 all you need extra is a power supply i see some people run these from an old car battery but i wanted something more stable, i went for a 240volt 12v 30amp power unit from eBay i will put links below.
    its taken a bit of time as i had to order some extra 75mm pipes to pipe where i wanted it but been worth it, i am getting 5 days heating from 15ltrs of fuel.
    i am running mine on heating oil as it the cheapest opinion but it will run on diesel and paraffin too.

      The problem with doing that is the exhaust fumes may be staying longer in the chamber and really they should clear to fresh air as quickly as possible.

    Hi. Good video but two points, one that should be attended to ASAP. The Exhaust on these get very hot indeed, passing the exhaust through a hole in the wood of the shed is dangerous, you should make the hole double the diameter and use heat wrap on the stainless exhaust pipe for safety so there is a gap. Ideally mount the heater at floor level as heat rises, You'll have a hot head and cold feet!

    • @SKKrafts
      @SKKrafts  Год назад +1

      Hi thank you for watching the video and thank you for the feed back.
      The hole going through the wooden wall is a 45mm hole which gives it 10mm clearance all around it, it has a metal plate which is a tight fit which is fixed to the outer wall holding the exhaust in place. The heater has been mounted in the same location for the past 2 years and there is not burning of scorching on the wood.
      As for the hot air out puts I agree with you but the way my workshop is equipped I have no where for the heat vents to be mounted on the lower level, I do use a couple of small fan to circulate the warm air. I dont suffer with cold areas and the workshop is well insulated.

  • @PainterD54

    Kerosene will not lubricate the pump enough that's why these heaters are made for diesel. Another problem I see in your installation is the exhaust should be protected from the wood passing thru the building like that. The exhaust can reach 500 degrees and start that wood on fire!

    • @SKKrafts
      @SKKrafts  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching and thank you for your comment, the exhaust has a 15mm gap around it to allow for the heat and is held in place with a metal plate, the heater has been going for over three years now and no burning on the wood.
      As for the pump i agree less lubricant in kerosene but again pump has been running for three years and still the original pump, plus they are only £15 to replace so fuel savings out ways the pump cost.
      Glad you enjoyed the video.

    It is desirable to run any of the 12v diesel heaters via a battery with a charger rather than a power supply. The heaters need to run a shut down cycle to cool the unit before they finaly shut down. If the 12 vollts is supplied via a mains unit and there is a mains power failure the cooling and shutting down procedure will not be initiated which could cause an undesirable overheating of the case and unit.

    • @SKKrafts
      @SKKrafts  2 года назад +1

      This is true. I have had my machine running for over a year now and never had a power failure yet. It’s more cost effective to run from a power supply than a battery with a charger running all the time. Many many people run from a power source and don’t seem to have any problems.

    Having said that with my dust extractor going it heats my workshop to 80 F quite quickly and the walls are insulated so heat retention is quite good.
    How much did all the extra bits and pieces cost.
    Did you use the exhaust muffler?
