What I understand there're at LEAST three mixings; a longer one and the two DIFFERENT from eachother from the US edition and European edition. Could be more, I'm not so well read about this album. But, when it comes to dance music Ron and Russell tend to have more than two or three versions. Jane Wiedlin could be on one of them. Anyway, she was in two tracks on 'In Outer Space', 'Cool Places' and 'Lucky Me, Lucky You'.
i have always loved this song since it came out back in 85 and i got it on some cassettee mix. NO ONE i have ever spoke to knew this song.. glad there are others out there that know this song (btw - its been in my workout mix for YEARS)
EK, when reading the comments here I understand that, though I had never heard of that movie until I read the comments here. I will google it. But not right now, it's past "nighty-nighty" 😁😴(01.18am where I am🇸🇪)
Not really. it's not strong enough, and whatever bite it had originally has been utterly removed from this version. How could anyone tell this is supposed to be slagging off the bubblegum identikit bullshit churned out by big corporations, and/or the like by that old slag madogga? It's just not there, and I think could have done without that: "Get up dear, get up and try..." whole middle-8 as it comes off more embarrassing and needless than anything else. I know Ron was writing weirder than weird in 1982 with titles like 'Mickey Mouse', 'Tarzan And Jane', about cigarettes having a life and moustaches, but they were all more catchy than this, if only we knew what it all meant.
Never had the money for a freestyle bike, so I had a skateboard instead. But RAD has always been my favorite 80's movie. The soundtrack (including this song) is awesome.
My favorite song from the movie! I've been buying illegal burned copies off of Ebay for the last 20 years and not all of them had this track. So excited they finally re-released the film and I got to record in on my DVR off of Showtime. I was also super excited to meet Bill Allen when he came to my town's movie theatre. Rad is both mine and my husband's favorite childhood movie. Something that we realized when we first started dating and I drove 60 miles to rent the movie as a birthday present for him from the closest Blockbuster that still had it available to rent. The manager pulled me aside and made sure I fully intended on returning the video. Happy to report that I did!
There’s literally nothing cooler then Rad to me! Bart Taylors the Biz him and his crew shaking it up out there to this song. I need to find the remastered version on dvd or any legit copy.
I was never someone who liked to go to the disco and dance, and I certainly didn't want to. But this one makes my legs twitch after 5 seconds. Fabulous!
This is the first Sparks album I bought in the 80s and man I loved it to death. That’s right rip. So happy to hear it all grown up in high def 😂😍🐝✨🤗😘⚡️🤩🤖👽

Still go to day 80's prom is April 26 in Tulsa OK at the Cains Ball Room if anyone wants to be there.
i can hear Telex's influence in this on the synths! looking into it, they worked in the Synsound Studios in Brussels, which was owned by their friend Dan Lacksman of Telex :)
Although this song was not received by the public as expected by the group, for me it is something of the best thing in their career, for the dance floor. "Music that you can dance to". it is his wrongly underrated studio work.
This was the best song (and Real Life's) on the Rad soundtrack. I was only a kid - but seeing those two girls dancing to this song did something. I didn't know what it was then. But I know now. It was the sound of SEX put to music! I'm almost 40 now. Still coming back to listen to this song...

About 5000 thumbs up on that!
it's not an obsession: it's a lifestyle
Me too. Honestly, this Band change my whole life.
Ditto
My son has been to their concerts this year 😁👍
A song that takes the piss out of dance music but it's an actual banger
Only Sparks
The problem is that most people are either too lazy to pay attention to the lyrics, or too dumb to get irony. 🙄
Sparks were trolling before it was a real thing.
It's far from clear that this song takes the piss out of dance music.
They have a lot of dance music in their discography.

They played it last night in Wolverhampton and it was awesome!
Вау 🎉 ! 👍🙂 Это потрясающе .
How is nobody talking about Ron's sick moves at 3:37 ? I'm going to practice that and try it out next time I go dancing. Say a prayer for me.
