Darth Vader: Purpose (Star Wars Fan Film)

- After failing to prevent the Death Star's destruction, Darth Vader is tasked with learning from Sith Lords of the Old Republic.
An original story written and directed by Ashild Adam and Ben Alfrejd, based on our favorite character from the Star Wars universe!
You can really feel the rage behind the “no one owns me” line.
Ironic how in the original star wars he's basically only been freed by his death
Palpatine: Hahaha, this is the Vader I met on Coruscant. The Vader *I* made!
That line is so cold, I felt chills. Why is this movie so good?!
Amazing that fans with minimal budget, film-making experience and acting skills can make a story that grips me more than a lot of what Disney Lucasfilm has put out. Great job guys.
Because fans care and Disney doesn’t they just want money and push their garbage agenda.
@@-thebatman-yes exactly
agreed..apart from the stark fact that kuntleen kunteddy and the pig rian johson destroyed the star wars franchise, brilliant to see/watch any past/presentfuture star wars fan clips as they definitely eclipse disneys 'woke' efforts... burn in the flames of mustafa, disney...
Its just like the Harry Potter fan films. They're better than the actual films.
Even better, the appearances of Darth Revan, Darth Traya and Darth Nihilus gives the impression that this fan film could have taken place in the EU rather than the Disney timeline.
No one has nothing to lose
That is such a poignant line. Powerful yet, sad. Vader still had his life, children he yet to know. Nihlus spoke true, yet Vader didn't know anything beyond the pain of loss.
Damn, this is such a beautifully written Fan Film. Lucas would be proud.
He should have not turn against the jedi idiot he should try to prevent padme death
Impressive,most impressive.
i like the detail of vaders mask being fixed the second the holocron is destroyed
the writing in this was phenomenal. anakin and vader mirroring each others moves was brilliant
The dialog and writing in this is beyond great. 10 out of 10.
"better than disney" - 👺👺
You're joking right?😂
It's a great film, spread the positivity❤
@@quentin580 yeah.. the fanfilm is overall very good. But the dialogue during the padme and anakin part was pretty bad.. nothing wrong with some constructive criticism.
@@coreymckee4844Eh,
I got used to it already.
And besides,
There's always worst than that anyway.
'If you depend on others to survive, your life is owned by those that keep you' - nice summary of illusion behind authoritarian power. The story reminds me 'The steppe wolf' by Herman Hesse in a sense of Vader meeting his inner selves and experiencing internal conflict that original Vader sadly didn't until the very end. I'm not a big fan of fan films, because are poorly made, but I liked this one.
“Muh othoritarianism yank cool beans”. - Merican
Fan films can be poorly made if they have great writing and acting.
@@jakebrook I agree. The story plays essential role, that's why I liked this one. But picture this, if fan film with good story, was made in a professional way. That would go viral.
I’ll be honest, in the first minute I thought “oh sh*t.” 18 minutes I won’t get back if I stick it out. But, I did stick it. Turned out to be 18 well spent. Original and worth it.
I am watching because of your comment. Please be right.

4:27 Vader just sees [Influence Lost: Kreia] pop up right infront of him but on a fr note this is a great fan film!
Y’all just explained vader so perfect proof to my 007 theory lie in your movie
Sta Wars fan films truly keep the franchise alive.
This film was amazing. It sums up my own take. The ancient Sith would look upon the modern with disgust. They lost the point of being a Sith somewhere. Sidious and Vader have sought power but failed to understand and so their chains were never broken. Kudos to you.
Why are anicent sith and Dagan from Jedi survivor disgusted with modern sith exactly, don't they about clone wars and order 66 which led to the rise of the empire,Jedi lost their way and where hypocrites nothing more than servants to the republic
@@preciousotoakhia9789but no true victory because A) the Jedi remained still, and B) there were no other strong forces for the sith to challenge.
Without victory, they were just figureheads of a dead and resurrected regime.
@@sumthingwikked4257 but a regime that ruled the galaxy, how is that not victory empire was very powerful
This was heat ngl TREIA AND NILHILUS WERE SPEAKING FACTS
Imagine he tries in a sequel with Lord Starkiller, Seventh Sister and Lumiya to attack the Emperor.
Nice job guys, that Vader costume looks perfect and I got chills with the greatest failure comment, Nihilus is awesome
I enjoyed seeing nihilus too ❤
"Do you not crave our knowledge?"
As much as I love the fight between Lord Vader and Revan, and Darth Treya (Kreya.)
I saw the whole video again just to listen to Revan's advice.
They're seriously worth writing down and learning to heart and take action. ✊
There are a few rough moments but also some grand slams. The voicing of Vader/JEJ is absolutely dead on.
Love how you brought legend characters into this fan film. Absolutely amazing and how you had the scene with Padme and Anakin with Vader in the background it felt like something for the Vader comics.
All around an amazing fan film !! keep making more.
Lessons where good too
The costumes vaders dialect is on point gives us shades of Anakin
A suggestion for a sequel taking place during Empire Strikes Back.
Knowing Vader knows the truth of his deception over twenty years ago, Palpatine questions if this knowledge of his son will draw Vader back to the light. He tasks Vader to go to Korriban, ancient home world of the Sith and enter the Temple of Bane as a test to see his commitment to the Dark Side.
Darth Bane's spirit arises and immediately deems Vader unworthy of his position as Apprentice in the Rule of Two. Empires had risen and fallen under the Sith, and he has foreseen that this one would fall by Vader's hand. Vader, outraged at this level of disrespect, attacks Bane, but is easily bested by him. Bane decides to give Vader a chance to prove his worthiness with three trials; each one conjured by a specter of his past.
The first trial is committed by the spirit of Darth Maul. Maul remembers Vader as a quivering child in the corner of his eye, sensing great fear from him whilst in the shadow of the Jedi. As they duel, Maul's ferocity matched against Vader's own skill, Maul mocks him, knowing how easy it is for Darth Sidious to discard someone; and because of how weak he is, there is nothing Vader will be able to do about it. His rage increasing, Vader is eventually able to overwhelm Maul and defeat him.
The second trial is committed by the spirit of Darth Tyranus. Dooku comments how disappointed Qui-Gon would be in discovering the boy he invested so much faith in was the architect to the Jedi Order's destruction, while Vader notes how disappointed Qui-Gon would be in them both. They duel; Dooku's speed and precision against Vader's brawn and durability. Dooku mocks him by saying how high he had fallen, adding insult to injury by cutting off Vader's arm again and deeming Vader to be less than a shadow of Anakin Skywalker; an absurd abomination. His rage increasing once more, Vader endures Dooku's lightning and physicallys beat the old Sith Lord with his remaining hand before taking Dooku's blade and killing him once more.
After a brief respite for Vader to repair his remaining hand, but not the damaged respirator (to further test Vader's connection to the Dark Side) the third trial is committed by the spirit of Grievous. As they duel, we see where Grievous' cybernetics are considerably more advanced than Vader's in speed and flexibility. Grievous recalls stories of how Anakin Skywalker was a war hero, always leading the charge and propelling his troops to victory. His power and skill was enough to wipe out entire fleets. He asks Vader "How does it feel to be the new General Grievous?" (as both are military tacticians and Jedi Hunters, relying heavily on cybernetics just to function and being viewed as abominations in the eyes of their peers) Outraged to be so simply compared to a droid, Vader uses the Force to tear Grievous apart.
Passing his trials, Vader confronts Bane in a duel. His rage now beyond its limits, he is able to use the Force to bend Bane to his will; stating that Darth Bane will always hold a position of respect for founding the Rule of Two, but as the first of the evolutionary chain, he is technically the weakest Sith. Vader's pain, his loss of his mother, wife, dreams and hopes, fuel the inferno of Vader's wrath until Bane is completely overwhelmed and cast back into the netherworld of the Force.
Incredible!!!
I would love to see, or even read something like that!!!
One problem with your little story. General grievous was never a Jedi nor a sith.
12:10 This moment was something else 🗣️
" the title of sith used to mean something... " such an amazing line!
had cringe but honestly it didn't matter because this was actually really good I had a lot of chills especially when Vader fought himself as Anakin
Wow I’ve been so burnt out with Star Wars content of late but I see fan films like this and reignites not only my passion for this franchise but also to continue my own Star Wars projects
now thats what i call a star wars story. Nice job man , even with low budget you managed to make me watch the whole short film twice with that story and dialouge writing. And the fact that it had Revan , Vader and Nihilus in the same video makes it gold.
Well done!!! Y’all need like $500k in budget and you’d make a movie better than most.
Vader at every Sith Lord: "I brought peace!" but peace is a lie. Imo Vader crying too much. But a all in all a really good movie
For a low budget fan film, I am quite impressed. The story and the lesson from each of the past sith lords was very well scripted. The acting was a bit of a "meh". I don't know what to think about Revan's voice, but I did like the voices of Nihilus and the witch (idk her name). The actor for Darth Vader did pretty well, his voice acting, and comical side were both well done and funny. You could really hear the annoyance from Vader with the past sith lords and the pain of view Padme and the anger when Vader realized his child lives. The effects were okay-ish, the costume and make-up work were very impressive, although the lightsaber effects could have been better. Especially when Vader's lightsaber goes through his cape. My biggest problem with the film was the lightsaber combat. It was very wonky and made me felt like I was watching the sequels again. This was shown most in the Vader vs Revan scene, and yes, I understand that maybe Revan was toying with Vader. But it felt more like Raven has gotten weak with his lightsaber style than toying with Vader. The witch did a much better performance, she knew how to fight like if she was in the old republic, props to her. Vader and Nihilus had both decent combat performance but felt like they were just doing random lightsaber moves and improvising without much planning. The Anakin did a very good job on his lightsaber combat, made it look like I was watching "Revenge of the sith" again, especially with the ani-obi move. I am a bit hesitant about how I feel about Sidious having two lightsabers for he only used two against Maul and Savage. And Sidious doesn't even use his lightsaber anymore after the rise of the galactic empire because he only needs his force lightning to put Vader down. All in all, this was still a decent fan-film for being a low budget. And I'm excited to see what future films await.
Bravo. A side of Darth Vaders Sith trials. Awesome
Sidious is the grandfather of my character ❤❤
What a great Idea, putting Vader to the misery to face the outcome of his own Actions, and getting aware that the only Way to protect his ofspring is to continue serving the Emperor.
Its such a Heart tearing Story, I would say a Star Wars Story definitly woth telling and one of the best Fanfilms I´ve ever seen.
May the Force be with you.
Good job.
The philosophy bits are outstanding
The palpatine voice is on point!
This is it. What a masterpiece. I enjoyed this more than I have lol.
Now THIS is a fan film!!!!! This was hard I need another one!!!!!!
Lord Revan approves
well done! Loved it!
:) Excellent. This hit the right note on so many characters and so many viewpoints. Once again we watch as Anakin's (Vaders) temper and impetuousness is his biggest enemy and downfall. Revan defeats Vader using lightsabers in just moments (as I expected) and *Balanced view is better, Kreia's lessons and examples then controlling multiple lightsabers (I usually really dislike Kriea but you got her 100% here). Darth Nihilus how to use anger and passion to stop at nothing until its done. What Anakin's life (with Padme) could've been if he had seen her first instead of submitting to Palpatine. Very good, you hit the nail right on the head.
Lucas said Vader and Palpatine are the 2 strongest Sith in Star Wars history. SO Vader will win against Revan and Against Nihilus.
@@honestmaster1932 I believe that also. The problem there wasn't strength or force abilities, the problem was Vader's mentality.
Like the prequels, Anakin's/Vader's Temper, frustration and yes Impetuousness were his biggest enemies, that's also what the spirits were trying to tell him and why Sidious was always able to control him. Last scene when he had learned to bide his time and wait for a better opportunity, that way would/did work.
These are Force visions from the Holocron, not real representations of the characters or their power. The fighting ability is determined by where the Force wielder is along their spiritual journey, and whether victory or defeat best serves them. Luke wasn't a match for Vader in Empire Strikes Back but he was able to decapitate the vision on Dagobah.
@@DrDarthVet Vader was beaten by the spirits every time by his own frustration and anger, they all tried to tell him that but much like Anakin from the movie, too angry and undisciplined (Impetuous). Luke was Not ready in ESB, Yoda and Obi-Wan told him that but (much like Anakin) Luke went and Vader handled him (Like Tyrannis to Anakin). Later on Luke had matured and was ready for Vader
It deserves so many more views
This is so creative
Awesome work! I enjoyed it!
Very Good a Cool Fan Film Much unseen Details
Oh my gosh. This is amazing even with such minimal budget
I'm very impressed.
I am very impressed with the quality of story that was displayed in this posting. Everyone needs to share and show their support to help the makers get the attention of Lucas Film. This style of writing is the shot in the arm that the franchise needs. Stories between the bigger stories is what they have been giving us lately anyway with Rogue One and Mando. This would be the perfect sort of thing to bridge the gap between episodes 4 and 5.
Keep up the good work guys! I look forward to more content from you all.
The battle between Vader and Darth Nihillus was epic 😮
I thought it was epic as well enjoyed. Lore wise nihilus was actual a very clumsy dualist since he primarily relied on his force powers to kill. so the fact that the duel itself seemed very standard and not as fast or flashy as the other fights shows me they really did the research and tried to keep the character as lore accurate as possible which I really appreciate as a fan of nihilus ❤
@@flyfonz8705 It was interesting that Nihilus never tried to use Force drain in the fight, with Darth Krayt when in Holocron he also imparted his advice to him and didnt try to use Force drain even when Krayt proceeded to destroy the holocron, it tells a lot that Nihilus remained Loyal to the Sith in death far more than with his hunger in life.
But he wouldn’t beat Vader in straight up lightsaber combat though, that was the point of dooku and Obiwan in the prequels to show how he became an elite swordsman
All of the fights would have looked a lot better playing at an increased speed. ⚔️
@@1man_crowdyeah this duel was like almost as bad and slow as the first one from a new hope
The writing is AMAZING

The story is amazing, you understand the physche of vader very well. Top!
Holy shit this was fucken legendary. I have day dreamed about this for so many years, you don’t even fucken understand.
There is an absolute charm to low budget storytelling. By not relying on flash, but substance, you give a master storytelling experience. Bravo!
This is impressive!!!! And it felt more entuned to what Star Wars is!!! hohoho Lord Vader. . . . . Meeting Lord Revan, Lady Trays. . . . didn't Traya used a Red purpleish? Lightsaber. Ohh Lord Nihilus!!!! Now that's something else entire, when Lady Trays said my greatest failure I though of Another, like Lord Sion would be something entire else
That was awesome the darth vader suit looked amazing
I feel like this definitely could be included in the actual canon. Very good epilogue for a new hope & sets up the Empire Strikes Back tone very succinctly... Bravo!!
Excellent content great work 👍🏿👏🏿👍🏿👏🏿 you are DEFINITELY A FAN OO STAR WARS
Some one send this to Dave Fioni and Sam Withwer immediately
That was surprisingly good! Even with the low budget it was fantastic. It had story, plot, climax. Nothing that Disney with millions of dollars had. Well done!
Dude this is awesome!
Just imagine what they could do with an actual budget!
From a certain point of view … I thought this was well done.
It’d be great if fan film makers would collaborate on a sequel trilogy film…. Star Wars fans would truly enjoy…
So much talent and skill out there.. there’s no doubt it would be great…
Very good story arc and compelling dialogue. Huge budgets can give us impressive visual effects but it doesn't take money to write a story with heart. Disney should learn this lesson.
Wow they nailed it with Vaders style and lightsaber fighting style
Damn, that ending was so surprising! I genuinely felt dread as Vader finished his trial. Yet, given Vader is masked, it's hard to gauge if he didn't feel change afterwards. Excellent movie everyone. You did very well. I hope to see more content like this in the future.
Good job!
This was better then the entire sequel trilogy for sure 😂

This was really enjoyable. Two things stand out. The dialogue and the fight choreography. Just superb.

IMO Revan would absolutely destroy Vader!
Looking at it I thought of the Christmas story, the one with Scrooge who dreams of the past, the present and the future. Who knows why he found three different characters here too... but the story is different from many others and finally pleasant and interesting, even if sometimes boring because most of the time there were only fights with the lightsaber. However, and I repeat, all at all it is pleasant and interesting. 😊
amazing work, you will think that order 66 which is vader fault plus they clone wars made they jedi an army fighting for the dark side would be impressive work leading to rise of the empire
How is that fanmade material is better than Disney made stuff. Better storylines, storytelling, action, dialogue and respect for the Star Wars universe. Imagine people like this were given the opportunity to actually create Star wars shows and movies
Soooo good! Keep it up! Loved it!
Very good story.
Glad I found this. Well done and creative.
This is some Vader comic type ishh
disney HAS A LOT TO LEARN FROM YOUR FORCE .......
I was honestly caught off guard by how low quality this was in comparison to otger fanworks, but the more I watched, the less it mattered to me. This was amazingly done with basically no budget. The story and dialogue was amazing and deep. And finally a fanwork that goes so beyond to include the ANCIENT Sith that teach Vader, not Sidius or himself, but the ancients. God dang this was good
