Self-taught sounds easy but needs a lot of discipline, patience and consistency. Am glad that u were able to manage your plan well to get where you are now! Thank you for sharing this brilliant story.
This video literally CHANGED MY LIFE. I have found this video as soon as it was posted, by some weird sheer luck. I was sad, depressed, very sick, staying in a Hostel with almost no money, in a foreign country. I was looking for something to motivate me change my life, and find something that drives my heart and mind on a daily basis, something I can indulge in and keep me fulfilled. I gave myself 3-6 months to get where I want. I got there in 6 months. I got an achievement unlocked and now I am on my next 3-6 months journey. I have No Words for enough Thank you for sharing this
I’m going to start this journey today, I quit my job and came to RUclips to see how I can learn to become a ui/ux designer and this is guy first video that came up. Keep an eye for this message guys. I will share my progress month by month on this comment. Do give a like every now and then and I’ll come and give a quick update. Thank you!
Same here 🙋🏽♂️ Im from Malaysia too Currently 31 years old, don't have any diploma/degrees, just SPM.. starts from Customer Service Helpdesk - IT Admin - Web Developer - Graphic Designer and now UIUX Designer.. it's long and hard work.. but definitely worth it.. never be afraid to chase your dreams 👍🏼
I love your ambition? When someone tells you you have too much ambition, that means that they want someone that they can control, and they can't control you. You are awesome Rachel! Keep on keeping on!
It's always refreshing to see new UX designers share their stories on RUclips, especially those who are self-taught. I come from a UX bootcamp background, and I can say with confidence that it IS possible to learn UX by yourself if you're dedicated and have the motivation and drive to do it. It's admirable to listen to your story and so many others who have transitioned into the field not having any sort of design background (I'm in that boat). I just want to say thank you for putting yourself out there and for sharing your beautiful story. I know that people will appreciate this, especially those who need that extra push to take the leap of faith. So thank you!
Thanks for the kind words Jason! You're right, it IS possible to be self-taught in design :) I'd add that a strong design eye is important so you instinctively know what's good design and what can be improved.
Exactly this has inspired me so much- I used to work in catering and was bullied so much by managers. Then I got a kitchen shop Job but was made redundant from it last August due to the pandemic- I have applied for hundreds more jobs with no luck yet - and when I got another rejection recently I just decided that’s it, I want to learn something new and give myself hopefully something to put on my cv that will stand out. I have enrolled on a coding course online. And I also really want to learn ux. this true story is such an inspiration to me I have watch it at least 6 times this past week. Just so incredibly inspirational I’m so grateful to have found this video thank you Rachel for making it and sharing it!
I started learning UX/UI 2 months ago. I'm a international relations bachelor, so it isn't related at all. I'm alone in this journey, studying a lot every day. No regrets, being optimistic. I'm kinda happy of learning something. Glad you found something you love. Hope you all find that too. :)
Same story here. I'm a international relations bachelor, but have no interest in that subject. I want to learn UI/ UX. Alone in this path with no one close to guide me. Anyways all the best for your journey my friend
@Rafaela Oliveira I just finished my BA in International relations and just starting to research ux careers. Your comment gave me hope because I felt like there’s no way I can work in something so different. How is your career in ux now? Any updates or advice would be greatly beneficial.
gee i'm in my senior year in IR major too.. doing my thesis and realize that IR is not realy my thing.. i'm trying to learn to be a UX researcher and UX designer.. hope that is realy for me.. i just so lost and don't know what should i do in life
I definitely needed to see this. The self-learning journey is a tough one, but it’ll be rewarding in the end when it all pays off. I can’t wait to land my first role. Thank you for the motivation Rachel!
You have absolutely no idea what this video means for me. I am in a similar position, nobody believes I can become a UX designer. I haven't got any experience yet, no degree either. But listening to you made me feel better. Thank you! ❤
You're so brave, I admire you for having the courage to do that. This is a great push and motivation for everyone who's a little hesitant to try new things.
All those failed interviews honestly sound like red flags that you luckily missed... I can't believe they were threatened that you were 'too ambitious'. I think it's because they want to hire someone they can work to death.
Some companies and hiring managers dislike people that are too ambitious. The reason because being too ambitious means they can't control you and you will stir things up. Also some managers can see you as a threat. sucks but that is reality.
@@AnthooFitz Wow. Now I understand my past job situation. Thank you! I was so ambitious at my job that they wanted to control me to exhaustion. When they couldn't anymore, the manager did dirty things to have reasons to fire me. I think now he was afraid that I would be more qualified to do his work since he had no studies or experience in the field. My work mate didn't really believe me until the manager did something dirty to put a stain on her image too in front of the boss.
@@yupidilicsart yeap that was my case and as well several of my colleagues. They want you to be brainless robots that follow orders. At times it seems contradictory because in interviews they always say “we want a go getter” “leaders” but they dont.
@@AnthooFitz Yeah...right said.. brainless robots.. They want only convenient equality .. and between big dogs not small pups.. And no compensatory pay... My first year was pretty fine without the manager between me and my boss who got lazy or busy to invest in management. Was really dissapointed about the manager who praised himself to be very correct only to prove himself a piece of .... 💩. I was in such a shock my health was damaged of months. Hope he receives what he deserves.
THANK YOU!! You are a true blessing to so many of us that feel stuck. I have my degrees in Graphic Design and Web Design & Development, I did exactly what you said not to do...I doubted myself and my talents. I have worked in several industries which made me feel so incomplete. YOU really are a confirmation to my prayers for a change in my life. I thank God for directing me to this video and I want to thank you for being here for the rest of us. I pray YOU LIVE THE LIFE YOU WANT.
"People will doubt you, but don't you doubt yourself." Perfect ending, for an amazing video. Thank you very much for sharing your story. Truly inspiring. ❤
You are my spiritual lead. I’m walking on the similar path as you did and I’m learning so much from you now, wish I found you earlier when I was extremely depressed about life and had zero passion on doing anything…. but I’m gonna start to seize the day and chase my dream now.
I have no idea what career path I should take. But seeing you go through so much more makes me feel like it's normal to not have things figured out right away. I hope everyone could find and do the job they love :)
I watched this because I was curious about UI/UX design but I feel like this is applicable over anything else! I’m not sure I’d like to go into UX design, but I want to use the methods you used to figure out what I want to do and do the work to get there. Subscribing because you gave lots of value in such a short amount of time. Thank you so much! ❤️
we know that no matter what path a person would take, it will always be filled with challenges. every time I feel like I cannot achieve or do something that I really like I come back to your channel and it gives me that just right feeling and be brave enough to embrace change and work on myself even more.
Thank you very much for telling your story. I felt totally identified. My story is very similar. I was in a job that I hated and saw no way out, until I was fired. I felt pretty miserable for a while. I started studying UX and now I belong to a large agency and I participate in projects that are teaching me a lot and I feel much better. Again, thank you very much
Hey, similar story here. I quit my marketing job to transfer into design. After few interviews I start to doubt in myself but thanks to you I now have hope that I am gonna make it and my job is there somewhere. Thanks a lot for sharing your story!
Its so interesting finding this life changing story after 2 years and it is still relevant! I am a beginner UI/UX designer, your story is so inspiring! Wish to land my first role soon. Thanks Rachel, you definitely earned my subscription.
Your determination and grit is amazing! I just finished my first year of biomedical engineering and I'm also a product design intern. Thank you for sharing your story ❤️❤️
cool!! do you think it'll be a great idea to learn UX design for BME! I'm super interested in majoring in BME. Would be great if you could give some insight, tyy
Thank you for this video. I am self-studying UX design while still working at my full-time job that is in a completely different field. I’ve been feeling down lately, exhausted, and having imposter syndrome; I keep doubting myself feeling I’m not capable on making the transition. On top of frustration because I only have time to study at night after work. Your video is encouraging that I’ll reach my goal.
Rachel, I'm so incredibly happy to have discovered your channel. I'm only two videos into your library and my angst has been put at ease and my spirits have lifted. My optimism has returned and it's a welcome relief. Thank you for sharing your wisdoms and providing encouragement in the most well thought-out videos that leave one feeling inspired & motived yet soothed & at ease at the same time.
You're so inspiring. I am in the position of not wanting to wake up to work and started having panick attacks. I've become a scardy cat. I lost confidence in my job and keep doubting myself. Thank you....
I love how you incorporate the different kinds of music into your video to send your messages. Awesome way of storytelling! Thanks for sharing! I'm sure this short video took a long time to plan, film, edit and put out to the world! Thanks for making the world a better place!
Hey Rachel, thank you so much for sharing your story. I really want to get into UI/UX design but also wanted to practise elements of coding so that I could understand and potentially do developer work. So the fact that you did both just makes me feel validated in my choice to do so, especially with the timelines you have given yourself making me realise the goal is attainable and has facilitated the success you managed to achieve shortly after! Congrats on securing your role and wish you all the best x
This is awesome, Rachel! I was also a Digital Marketer and during this pandemic, I took the leap and switched to something completely alien to me: coding. I'm in the early stages right now so naturally, there's a lot of self-doubt and imposter syndrome so thank you for this video :) Especially love the last bit: "People will doubt you, but don't you doubt yourself." Beautiful. ❤️ Thank you, and congrats on starting a new career path that you love! 😍
"I don't know how I'm gonna get there, but I'm gonna try." Hi Rachel, just wanted to drop by and say how glad I am to have found your channel! As someone who's just starting to explore the world of UX/UI, your content has been incredibly inspiring and motivating. It's giving me the confidence to pursue this big career transition. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us! Looking forward to learning more from you. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you for sharing. You were a digital marketing manager, so technically you were not "no experience", actually, your work experience in digital marketing helped you a lot in your UX design career. I understand you want to encourage people with zero experience, but at the end of the day, people are gonna freak themselves out by seeing "at least 3 years experience" on entry-level job descriptions and gave up
@@madcityy269 don't know if you reply to this but I have been doing coding / css and html for years now and a college for BA in Web Design in my state is offering the degree. Do you think that's a good choice? I am very self taught in alot of programs etc. But I definitely wonder getting this degree will also help me. I also think UI / UX design as well as Graphics is right up my alley. // I agree, alot of places I see hiring for these positions need to see strong portfolios and also a degree in some type of field. Alot of these videos are beyond misleading.
@@tragicriots a lot of the designers I work with have a master's degree in digital design and interaction(myself included, but in a different area). I don't know what the curriculum is for your BA, but if it's not only code based, then you're already on your way. do you have a link? Have you done any UX/UI work before? I used to work as a graphic designer before I made the transition myself, so I'm curious to hear what your experience is within the field. It's not to measure you, but I've had people tell me they want to do work with this type of design, but they don't necessarily know what it is actually working with it. Hope it makes sense?
Thanks Rachel. I also get told I am 'too ambitious', which often gets me down. I have a similar mindset to you, so I hope I can follow in your footsteps. I have another issue of being 41. I'm an ex-HR Manager, ex-Videographer, and current Business English Coach. I get down about my age, but then I consider the wealth of soft skills and behaviours I have developed in the last 25 years of work experience and think, surely that's a good thing!
Hey, thank you so much for these videos. I started watching these videos when i started to teach myself UX design 8 months ago. I finished my second year at university and had no prospects for internships for my professional practice year, I decided to take a risk in not going straight into final year and take that year to pursue UX internships. I am glad to say that I have secured not one but two internships. I am currently working as a design intern for a design firm, Storyland Studios, and have an upcoming summer internship as a UX designer for Expedia Group in their incredible office in London. Videos like these helped my confidence and determination in making progress in my career. Thanks Rachel!
Oh my, i’m so happy to hear this. You have put in a lot of effort and kudos to you for the courage to skip your final year and took actions towards securing your internships. All the best to you and thank you for watching! 💛
You don't know how much i needed to listen to this today 🥺 love this! I'm also currently struggling in terms of learning new stuff to improve my skills and im looking into a lot of things also. Should definitely give myself a deadline too.
Hearing your story on breaking into UX design gives me a lot of hope. You were very focused and dedicated, and hearing how disciplined you were when creating your portfolio, is giving me a lot of hope into breaking into UX Design. I just dropped out of college at 21, and I cannot bring myself to go back. And when I learned about this career, I was worried at first. Since so many companies ask for a bachelor's degree. While I only have a college certificate in art. I hope to create my portfolio and land an entry level job in UX Design within 6-8 months. I thank you for sharing your story, as there are many designers who had a bachelor's degree in something else.
Thank you so much for being an inspiration to all of us in this community. I teared up watching this. I’m going to look into learning more about ui/UX design because I too enjoy visual designs and building with Notion made me realize that! Thank you again❤
Hey Rachel, I wanted to congratulate you on your success. It’s not always an easy journey and often involves persistence, courage and determination to reach your goal. I have been in UX (UI and front end) for over 20 years. I too am self-taught and I’m still learning 😁 Thank you for sharing your amazing story and wish you every success for the future.
I could CRY right now. Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring story. I have been SO frustrated with trying to figure what to do with my life, since I have received so many "no"s on job offers for the last 7-8 years. I started learning how to code recently, but feel like I might be more interested in UX/UI. I stumbled across your videos and they have been so helpful and inspirational. I think I'm going to give this a shot!
How's your journey going for being a self taught graphic designer. I also want to do graphic designing, I'm confused whether i should get a degree (the college i chose for is actually expensive) or should i become a self taugh graphic designer?
When searching for what you wanted to do. You were always drawn to visual design. And you said it with so much certainty it made me smile. I am very happy for you! Thank you for sharing your experience
I’m studying to be an analyst in programming but I’ve always been driven to the design world, I did a small course in sewing and I love crafts. Recently I found out about UX design and it really caught my attention. Thank you so much for sharing your story, I hope we all find a job we love❤️
Thanks Rachel. I'm transitioning to a UX Design career right now and I'm trying not to give up. It is frustrating at times, so thank you for sharing your experience with us, it's truly motivational:)
Thank you for watching, Sarah! Don't give up, if you love design, just keep going. It's satisfying to be in a profession that you enjoy doing for a long time.
WOW the algorithm showed me this video just as I was doubting myself and I felt like quitting, but its nice to see that you made it . I'm looking to transition into UX design with self learning and a certification wish me luck.
Good to hear your story. I'm a freelance web designer. I was studying Architecture but dropped out and got into web design way before there was RUclips or any web resource. My brother at that time was studying engineering in computers, and he had a book called "Learn HTML in 24 hours". That's how I got started and then I simply sat in internet cafe's to see the code used by other large companies, which I first copied and then modified to see what happens. 20 years later, I still love this field.
I am straying away from architecture now too...and wanna learn to design Ui/Ux and learn blender too.. I am torn between the two.. I only have limited time at night coz i have work in the morning. Can you tell me which I should focus on?. Im so confused..
@@MittensJourney27 I'd say learn a bit of all in the beginning and see which you prefer. With Architecture background, learning blender could have advantage in terms of working with other Architects for rendering, etc.
This is amazing ❤️ I really wanted to learn UI/UX from a long time and have all resources to it but no time to study as am currently working as graphic designer. This video just gave me hope to start my journey. Thanks Rachel and "people will do doubt you but don't doubt yourself" that was best ❤️
Congratulations Rachel! Your hard work definitely paid off! I just want to point out that ultimately it comes down to you (whoever's reading this) as an individual. If you're self motivated and have good discipline skills, then you can definitely be self-taught and do well. For me, I need that curriculum and mentor hand holding. I need to have peers to reach out to that I know are going through the same grind. Everyone learns differently but everyone can make that first step and find what works for them (:
Wow, as an aspiring self-taught web developer who also happen to have a passion for design, I'm very happy to see another successful self-taught knowledge worker in Malaysia! This honestly gives me a lot of hope, thank you ❣️
You have no idea how amazing and inspiring you are. My eyes and heart lit up like fireworks when I hear your story. It gives me hope that someday we will be able to fulfill the call of our passion eventually. Just if we are brave enough and dedicated enough to pursue it. Thank you , Rachel.
Love this! Great job on turning it all around. The beauty of the technology industry, in particular app development, UI/UX etc is how accessible it is. Gone are the days where CV's are the only metric too, online portfolios, general engagement with the community and networking go so far too. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more content! 👋 from the UK!
Thank you for sharing and the motivation Rachel! Last month I was a Graphic Designer, but starting this month I'm working as UIUX designer. It's a different role, just like you said in the video. Feel like finding a new world. I hope I can do this job well and find happiness just like you do
From the way you talk It looks like you are a wonderful person! And I really liked your content. That’s why I subscribed. I’m in a position that I’m teaching myself coding to become a software developer and I want everyone out there to now that no matter how shit your life is it can become amazing if you BELIEVE in yourself! Never give up in yourself! Thanks again for your amazing content!
From the Day1 (Nov'21) I got inspired by your videos, it's like GRWM landing in a new field with no experience, no degree BUT these things are really me. It has already been 2 months since I started free online courses and it's only a few months left, I haven't started any projects yet. I'm SO BURNED OUT to pick the good and right one put into my portfolio. Tick tick... (but not Boom!) I woke up this morning I got back to watch this video again, you REMINE me what my goal is. I'm getting better now and ready to continue my journey! Thank you again for sharing your awesome stories!! Thanks so much, Rachel :)
Hey Pemika. Don't give up! Just start your projects right away and get feedback from people in the same industry/peers! Sending you good vibes from Malaysia :)
I'm trying to prove this right now. Thanks for the inspiration. I recently just finished the Google UX course, and I'm trying to be taken seriously, but it's hard as my last job I was a high school teacher. I dropped out of my last year in uni because of anxiety, but I overcame it a few years later and have been struggling to get back on track ever since. It's definitely difficult to get people to recognise you as an intelligent hard worker without a degree. There is a kind of accepted fascism about relegating other humans to the bottom of the ability hierarchy without one. I have dedicated myself to making the best of what I can with professional certifications and trades, trying to fight my way back, and I know that if I could get a chance it would be so valuable to me that I would return that value multiple times over. Thanks for the push to carry on. 😄
How did you like the google course through coursera? Im thinking about taking this path but theres so many options im wondering if this will make me ready for the job market after 6 months of classes
@@travelingsandy900 I have a good prospect in the works now. A real interview with real people, which is a massive leap forward from the thousands of auto-email rejections. I have been keeping track of the views on my portfolio, and it seems they typically don't look at it until you're considered a candidate. They told me that they love my portfolio, and gave me a personal number to stay in touch and everything. I'm excited, so I hope it ends well. I have been trying since November.
I don’t comment on RUclips. But this video is extraordinarily the most transparent and genuine video I have seen. Dedication, trial, error, faith, commitment, and discipline, love it!
I originally attended an art school in Washington DC as a graphic design but last minute changed to animation and dropped out a year later. I should’ve stayed with graphic design. Now, 11 years later I’m doing research about becoming a UX/UI designer.
Hello from across the causeway :) Thank you so much for this video! I've been self-studying UX design for about a month through the Google Coursera course online and it's been a little overwhelming as I'm still holding a full-time job. Definitely gained some inspiration and motivation from this. I would love to see how you structure your self-learning and balance all the different subjects (UX, coding, programs etc). Also you have gained yourself a new subscriber ;D
I've been doing the google courses too! Desipite work, I've managed to make my way to course #6 and I'm on my way to #7! Good luck to you, keep up the effort, I'm sure you'll make it!
Thank you Delight Ng, all the best in your Google Coursera course!! The beginning is the hardest. Soon enough it’ll all pay off :) I’ll note that suggestion down and see how I can bring value in my videos 😊
I'm taking the Google Coursera ux design course. It's really overwhelming I'm just in week 3 of course 1 and there are six more courses to go. I wonder if I can finish it
Thank you for this. I literally just started learning ux design online. I feel the same way you did when you started. It's reassuring to see others go through and accomplish the same thing you want. Thanks again
We literally have the same situation and currently in your 2018 year. I'm glad to hear your story, it helps me a lot that I'm not alone and there are other people who are in similar situations as me. This is a motivating video for me to pursue exactly what I want in life now and further my personal development.
Oh my gosh! This is what I needed to hear! I’m going to have about three months to study and get a job too. Your story is so much like mine. Love your channel! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! I really needed to hear these words. This video made me feel so happy and reassured because what you talked about resonates with me so much. I'm also on a self-learning journey for graphic design and coding so it was lovely to hear about your journey. I'm new to your channel and will be watching the rest of your videos. P.S. I just subscribed! :)
I am so glad i found your videos, i was just starting to get depressed on how i get a degree and job, and how I don't have any experience. I will now start on my learning journey with learning as my goal, and enjoy the process without stress. I have some experience with design and i think i can put my heart into it and enjoy. Thank you so much for this!
So good to see someone who worked hard at something she believed in and got what she wanted in the end. Congrats. You deserve it. And thanks for sharing your story to encourage others to do the same.
This was a very beautiful and inspiring message! It's not easy for a person to counter the fear of not not going from the most walked path and try to pursue and fulfill his dreams
Love it! I'm a self taught Graphic designer as well. Your video is very inspiring! "Learn to use criticism as fuel and you will never run out of energy"
Thank you so much for sharing your journey, I relate to a lot of this and I am also looking for career shift and I feel so optimistic after watching this. I feel like I've been giving myself too many excuses but I feel ready now and all thanks to you! I love you. ♥️✨
omg, you made me cry, thank you very much for all the words. this is how i am feeling right now, used to be a developer 3 years, and now i don't have a job, and keep doing some interviews but no one is hiring me. i'm so stuck atm, don't know what i'm doing, i'm not sure about what job i would like to do, if i'm good at anything. But I remember my goal, and why i started this, i like marketing, design, interfaces and that stuff. So one day decided to be an UX Engineer, but i can't. Now i know that i need more practice, more projects on my own to have a very respectful portfolio, and try luck again. Thank you, for the motivation!
really inspiring Rachel, I didn't expect that you will talk about your inspiring journey like this and I was just curious about how to become UI/UX designer, but overall, my career path journey a little bit like you, I had to work a tedious work every day and doing everything that I hate for the rest of my life, but after all of that, I choose to work as a designer that to do the thing that I most like to do, eventually Thank you for motivation video.
thank you Rachel for the touching video. You warned me up like there is hope in myself. I actually had been jumping different channels of job that I dont enjoy. But after watching your video I felt like I could try something new like product design or UI/UX design.
Its almost as if most Asians are self-taught UX designers that got into the design Industry with no experience. That's what anyone would think if they saw my RUclips recommendations
Hello, I recently came across your RUclips Videos, and Honestly, I am kinda motivated. I just entered the UI/UX industry from an Architecture background with a self-taught process. And still working on that to be confident. Your story inspired me.
I think RUclips could implement the "love" button on videos because this video was a total blow mind for me. The few recruiters who responded to my job application (because they usually don't) have already said that I had a good resume but it was highly likely that I would find another place that paid more and I would quit the job. That's sad because that could mean that they know they are paying less but they just doesn't care about it... Thanks for the inspiration! ♥
Rachel, you are an inspiration! I am very encouraged by what you said! Thank you for believing in yourself and stepping out to do all that! I hope I will gather courage and do likewise!
This felt so genuine tbh. Your video sure did shift something inside me. I've been going through a tough time for a while now, with existential crisis and other issues jumping in and out of my life constantly, but its weird how I always knew what I wanted to do. I'll be forever screwed and I might never figure out my 'one true purpose' but I might just get my hands dirty anyway after watching this. So thank you! Keep working hard girl. Fighting 💜
Exactly what I needed today, thank you for taking your time to record this video, you inspired me to also do the same, share my voice and let people learn through my videos. Thank You ❤️
I actually just dropped out of college because I wanted to focus on becoming UI/UX designer. Thank you for this video! It really helped me feel assured that it is possible to achieve my dream job.
hey there! Im thinking of quiting uni to pursue design asw. I would love to know how it has been going for you since you've commented. Sending lots of love your way. Don't give up on what makes you happy :)

Totally agree

I just want to say thank you for putting yourself out there and for sharing your beautiful story. I know that people will appreciate this, especially those who need that extra push to take the leap of faith. So thank you!
Thanks for the kind words Jason! You're right, it IS possible to be self-taught in design :) I'd add that a strong design eye is important so you instinctively know what's good design and what can be improved.
Have you got a job in UI UX?
Jason, you definitely have come a long way. Congratulations on your new role and quite interesting to have stumbled upon your comment:)
Couldn't have said it better myself! 🙌🏾
"People will doubt you but don't you doubt yourself" Thanks I really needed that
Always!
I started learning UX/UI 2 months ago. I'm a international relations bachelor, so it isn't related at all. I'm alone in this journey, studying a lot every day. No regrets, being optimistic. I'm kinda happy of learning something. Glad you found something you love.
Hope you all find that too. :)
I also have an International relations degree! I'm also looking to become a designer Good luck in your journey!
Same story here. I'm a international relations bachelor, but have no interest in that subject. I want to learn UI/ UX. Alone in this path with no one close to guide me. Anyways all the best for your journey my friend
Hey I wanna get started on ui/ux but I'm stuck on where to start. Can you maybe suggest something please :)
Thanks Tika, appreciate you for watching this video :) I'm excited for you to land your first role!
Same here Tika🥺 hope your self-learning journey has been fruitful🤍

You have absolutely no idea what this video means for me. I am in a similar position, nobody believes I can become a UX designer. I haven't got any experience yet, no degree either. But listening to you made me feel better. Thank you! ❤
Thanks for sharing your story too ❤
"people will doubt you, but don't doubt yourself"
You're so brave, I admire you for having the courage to do that. This is a great push and motivation for everyone who's a little hesitant to try new things.
Thank you so much!
All those failed interviews honestly sound like red flags that you luckily missed... I can't believe they were threatened that you were 'too ambitious'. I think it's because they want to hire someone they can work to death.
Especially since they were looking for someone to fill two roles--UX and graphic design--for a single salary
Are you doing any graphic design or web development now or did you switch to UX
"People will doubt you, but don't you doubt yourself." Perfect ending, for an amazing video. Thank you very much for sharing your story. Truly inspiring. ❤
honestly, when ppl doubt me its making me doubt myself too
You are my spiritual lead.
"People will doubt you but don't you doubt yourself." - I needed this line even for a seasoned professional like me. Thanks, Rachel.
Hey Towani, thanks for watching and I really appreciate the kind words. I hope this video helps! :)
What have you decided to do since then?
we know that no matter what path a person would take, it will always be filled with challenges. every time I feel like I cannot achieve or do something that I really like I come back to your channel and it gives me that just right feeling and be brave enough to embrace change and work on myself even more.
Aww, this means a lot. Seriously. You got this, Hasan. Go get 'em!

You are such an inspiration, Rachel! Virtual hugs from a self-taught (and senior-colleague-taught) software engineer!
Hey, similar story here. I quit my marketing job to transfer into design. After few interviews I start to doubt in myself but thanks to you I now have hope that I am gonna make it and my job is there somewhere. Thanks a lot for sharing your story!

U got this
out of all the career transition videos I've seen, your story is the most inspiring and impressive. From zero to a job in a new fiel in 3 months?? 🤯
"You will never fell like you're ready anyway, so you might as well start!" Love that the most! Thank you for such a wonderful video
You have a level of sincerity that makes you a cut above the rest. Thank you for taking the time to make your informative & inspiring videos.
Hi where are you learning coding?
"I don't know how I'm gonna get there, but I'm gonna try."
Hi Rachel, just wanted to drop by and say how glad I am to have found your channel!
I understand you want to encourage people with zero experience, but at the end of the day, people are gonna freak themselves out by seeing "at least 3 years experience" on entry-level job descriptions and gave up
True bruh
She said that her previous jobs shaped her
@@madcityy269 I get it. Since I saw this comment, I won't even bother watching the video
I really respect your honesty , your ambition and your consistency , you're such an inspirative person.
I too am self-taught and I’m still learning 😁
Thank you for sharing your amazing story and wish you every success for the future.

Thank you! Everyone learns differently, what matters is as long as you are taking action, stick to your goal :)

@@rachelhow Hi Rachel. Thank you very much! Your kind words warmed my heart. Have a good day. :)

thank you Rachel for the touching video.

😂😂😂

@@narrayudiputra6244 I'll fear that man who becomes a doctor in just three months than a terrorist who's about to chop my head off. LOL

I am so proud of you, Rachel! This will give me inspirations to do better, no matter how hard it is
This felt so genuine tbh.
