In season 3, I would like to see actual, harsh judging without any emotional sway, and I think the fans would agree. Not to be salty about losing, but I think the judges should have had a strict system they had to stick to no matter what. We are musicians. Do not worry about our fragile egos. If anything, REAL judging would create authentic drama and character arcs like we saw with Alexa and Austin. The judges should have five categories: 1. How well-written was the song? 2. How tight did the band play the song? 3. How good was the band's stage presence? 4. How good were the band aesthetics in terms of dress code? 5. Did the band implement the criticism they received from the previous challenge? Each of these categories could have been given a score out of 20, and all five would equal a total of 100 points for that performance, with a total out of 300 from all three judges. If you go with three judges, their combined tastes and expertise should cover most genres of rock and metal to make the judging more balanced. 1. Have a judge who likes rock, blues, hard rock, prog rock, etc. 2. Have a judge who likes nu metal, metalcore, pop punk, prog metal, etc. 3. Have a judge who likes deathcore, hardcore, slam, black metal, death metal, etc. I also think the judges should have to give MANDATORY criticism for each band. Graystone always got, "WTF was that?" or "I don't know what to think," whereas the other bands got actual criticism on how to improve. I am not complaining about losing; if anything, I am honored to have been invited back at all! I just think the judging system was very flawed. In the future, I would love to see something more structured that the fans could follow along with.
i agree with this 100% man, not just because ive always been team graystone, but i think you guys got robbed several times this season. you easily should have won season 2 as well!
pretty much agree im big on graystone, that being said imo soulfire was objectively the best band this season tho. love ya to pieces justin, and i really enjoy me some fun metal things and the rest of the gang. but if you participate next time again PLEASE enter as a vocalist, im not trying to diminish your ability as a bassist, in fact i think youre killing it. but everyone who knows you, also knows your true power lies within your insane vocal abilities. youve worked so hard for these skills, show em to a wider audience.
Very good point. It seemed the judging was a mix of emotion and analysis, alot of times swaying one way or the other more. I think what you described and adding that each judge should level at least one constructive criticism for each band would help each band and musician grow, because we are all wanting to get better I think, I include myself in that.
I believe some individual awards would be amazing in Season 3. For example: Best Live Performer, Best Glue (that keeps the band together), Most Improved Artist, Best Mentor (someone that helps others) etc etc
Constructive Feedback: My 1 main issue when watching the show was the judges not being critical enough, especially when there were some obvious issues. Not pointing out problem spots that everyone could hear feels disingenuous and detracts from the point of being a "judge" with some expertise. We grew up watching the likes of Simon Cowell on AGT, and this is essentially a competitive talent show. In real life, pure support and encouragement is of course amazing, but in the context of this show, we need to see some brutal honesty and allow people to show how they respond to real, honest criticism. Other than that, the pacing, editing, and quality were leaps and bounds ahead of the last season. It was such an enjoyable watch, and I can't wait for another season!
This seems to be a common critique, but it's kinda BS because the emotional part of the music is what is worth it. Relying on technical aspects is focusing on the boring parts if music. The challenges should be more engaging to watch, they should promote more interactions and people having to work outside of their comfort zones which is what's interesting to watch. The judges should just be beloved people from the industry saying their honest thoughts, keeping it fun and lighthearted. A more technical approach to judging would make this a sports competition, which would only be interesting to watch to other musicians, not the general public.
Not to shit on the first season because I enjoyed that as well but you did such a better job on season 2. Everything from the challenges to the end goal. This is my favorite shit on RUclips right now and I hope you do this every year for the next 50 years.
while I'm not 100% in line with the scoring results, S2 was a huge advancement on season 1 (which was great) really a fun watch, and I hope you keep doing it in the future. big props to sweetwater et. al. for funding it.
@@plazimathe best band lost. Soulfire (who isn’t even my favorite band on the show. That’s Graystone) was by far the best from the very beginning. Rikki became the defacto leader of the band and controlled the entire vibe. Honestly, it kind of sets up for a bigger season three where Jared can bring back SkyLimit, Grvsshvpper, and Soulfire for a redemption season.
@@testingmyaudioaddiction3452 IKR, Vince's vocals were practically flawless for the whole set, and Chena and Garrett were super tight and so was Logan, and Rikki like they said is his own show, the whole band had the best performance imo Edit: Tbf, it was extremely hard to give a realistic ranking bc everyone did amazing, if there was a time to make everyone a winner it wasn't the fucking vocal challenge it should've been the live performance lol.
Genuinely one of the best productions on RUclips. The bands were all so good it was unbelievable. Props to everyone involved. Jared, the judges, the production crew and definitely the musicians. Can't possibly fiend anymore than I am now for another season.
Whatever you do in season 3, make sure Greystone is in it (not as a cameo)! Absolutly love what you did with season 2, keep it going + what Justin said!
Season 2 was way more polished than Season 1. Graystone has to be in every season, they're just so chaotic and without them in the show, it would lose that craziness. I love the fun between Rikki and Austin especially when Austin had his sunglasses lol. Rikki needs to come back too lol.
I really would miss Graystone so much if they didn't come back on. I really think they need to bring back the fan favorite band for the previous season or some kind of thing similar to this year. Having a "king of the hill" would be kind of fun but I also feel like they do need some kind of "cushion" of chaos and crazy that Graystone has brought so far.
I think they need to limit bands to one season to keep things fresh. That being said, season one was definitely a prototype and in some sense so is season 2. They’re making great strides at improving the show. But I definitely would like to see veterans of the show come back in a non competitive role (guest judges or being featured for a song or some other challenges etc)
@@trayamolesh588 Totally agree with you. I think new bands should always be formed at the beginning of the show, as that is a huge part of the competition. I’m not completely opposed to the idea of bringing back musicians and even possibly integrating them into new bands, but it is completely unfair to bring in a band who already went through the whole process again. Might be fun to bring them in for cameos, judging, or guest performances instead.
@@CheeryBerserkr You don’t have to miss Graystone (or any other band from the show) though, this show gave them a launching pad and the connections to start a great metal band and if they’re smart, they can easily run with that and continue their career either on RUclips or releasing albums and doing actual tours. Graystone is definitely still around regardless.
I HATE reality shows almost across the board. But THIS is how you do it. None of the lame constructed drama. No dumb Manufactured fights. Just a bunch of kickass musicians doing what we all love. I’ll admit…I actually had tears in my eyes a couple times, especially the end. I’d love to see a challenge were a genre change is required. Like Greystone having to go acoustic. 😂 My only criticism…I would have watched double the episodes. Best videos on RUclips right now.
Loved season 2. One thing I missed from season 1 was the sort of 'after show debrief' section, where the musicians have done it all and could just relax and celebrate what they achieved. They're all so focussed on what they have to do that it would be nice to see everyone reflect a bit more on other bands and individual's achievments etc. I know it might be difficult to include something that and make the show still tight though.
Bringing the guests like Howard Jones in to judge challenges was cool, but it’d be even better if the guests get more involved in some way, a feature, assist with a song, or something like that
Howard should have been such a cool guest too have on the show, too.. Sucks that he didn't seem to be very talkative or in the mood for doing a video.. def noticed how little he had to say and how totally unusable his 'feedback' was. Not picking a winner too? Cmon man, it was a bit of a letdown
Agree with Justin’s points on actual judging. It felt like Hiram had an axe to grind against Soulfire. Would be cool to see instrument challenge winners instead of extra cash get to influence the challenge. For example, the winner picks what song another band had to cover, or would be allowed to choose a song element with full visibility, force another band to have a particular element. Adds some drama and strategy to the game
Having categories for the judges to rate on would help their consistency a lot. Such as playing $0/$50, stage presence $0/$50, overall songwriting $0/$50 or something like that. This season was miles ahead of season 1, but the judges i feel dragged it down. Hopefully making categories can help them focus on aspects of the performances, as well as supporting certain strong suits of band members.
And if they want to make growth a factor in the judging than maybe make it 10$ or something and if you get a 10/10 and incorporate previous criticism it can have a multiplying feature or something
Massive shoutout to you and your team for taking our criticism and translating it so fucking well immediately within one season. My only criticism for this season is the scoring process by the judges. The ratings kinda felt random sometimes. I do understand that music is felt in a subjective way, but I felt the scorings oftentimes were not really consistent with what was said. Maybe you could, instead of rating within a large span of money, change to a point system that somehow translates into the price money. Maybe that keeps things a tad more objective.
yeah get them to do like a rating out of 100 each for every song and just take that number as a percentage and multiply it by however much money is up for grabs on that song so say they gave it a 92/100 and there was $250 up for grabs you just do 0.92 x 250 for a total of $230 then repeat this for each judge and total it
I said no notes but I do have to agree with this. It might also be cool to have categories to rate? Like performance, technicality, musicality(kind of the catch all how it felt?). I dunno, something like that where bands could really shine and score high in their element, but have a chance to really work on other aspects and surprise everyone?
Id love to see greystone members back but split up into different bands, so we still get to see their chaos but its not just repeating what we’ve already seen in previous seasons.
1. Come up with a more structured judging system, based on categories, just like Justin proposed. The current system is not clear and not fair. 2. Bringing Rikki and Austin back is a must! 3. I agree with the idea of having judges with versatile tastes. 4. I'm not sure if the intent was to have a Simon Cowell-type judge, but Hiram's scoring and feedback were all over the place. Also, looking at his responses to any critique here on YT, he seems so full of himself. I don't want to see him back in S3. 5. Maybe expose the bands to more genres a little more?
Don't get me wrong I love Graystone they are my favorite but Hiram definitely played favorites with those guys. The other 2 judges although they gave higher scores, it seemed like they were consistent with the criteria they were judging on.
Graystone is genuinely such a unique deathcore band, their finale performance was amazing, Dickies vocals are super diverse and he always keeps it interesting, they gotta tour now
That singer challenge vote (everyone wins participation trophy) was a giant slap in the face. Why did Howard Jones barely talk and offer any good critique? He is one of the best singers in metalcore and I would have loved to hear what he would have to say. I’m sad he didn’t pick a definite winner. Sounds like he was paid to stand around for 5 minutes and just say “good job”. Soulfire knocked from 1st place to 3rd place, after the show. Even after the judges gave them such praise. My mouth was to the floor. Graystone bumped to 2nd place, sure. Aeris won cause of that voice challenge participation trophy. They had barely any stage presence compared to the other 2 bands and their songs weren’t super stand-outs, except for the emotional song. As much as I loved this season and felt it was an improvement from the last season, I really felt the ball was dropped on this one for the winner. There was special treatment given to the one specific band who improved, not the one who was the best of the best. Judges also need to be a lot more honest next time. I felt Cole was the best judge out of all of them, so I’d keep him around. Other than that, entertaining show, but undeserving winning band.
@@Sabinicus27I actually thought Jimena was the star musician in Aeris, even though I didn’t particularly like the band as a whole. But yes, Garrett and Nik played amazing guitar in the challenge.
100% agreed, the “everyone wins” vocal challenge was horseshit and Aeris certainly did not deserve 1st place. Soulfire was absolutely flawless and Graystone sounded like a band that had toured together for years. The judges need to take their personal bias out of it next season.
man you literally saved my mental health during this winter break by realising this masterpiece, the way that musician mansion 2 is fucking natural and professional at the same time brings the real joy and smile on my face while watching. you, the whole crew and the cast deserve so much more recognition. such an amazing job dude!
I like that the show doesn't emphasize drama. Of course there will be some moments when people don't get along, but it's never about that, but about how they overcome and make great music. 've loved both seasons.. so much fun. GREAT WORK!!
Plz keep this show going Jared! I loved the adjustments with the music challenges. Honestly, I’d love a couple extra songs as like a 10 part series and stretch it over a 2 week period, so the bands get 48hrs per song. Thank you
This was the best series I have ever seen on this platform, absolutely astounding!!! My face was melted. Worst part: it was too short! I’d love to see some more genres of bands.
A PHENOMENAL season. I loved how varied the challenges were. If the third season follows the same “formula” as season two I have no problem with that, and I am looking forward to season three immensely. Great job, Jared, and to all the musicians involved.
@@TysonPJ - Not necessarily, it can also really come down to how they do their crowd work. In this case my guess would be the same either way as graystone from the show footage looked like they absolutely killed the stage show with the crowd
I think the audience would've probably decided based on who they know or like the most. People like Nik, who has like a million followers, could've influenced that too much. The judges don't care about that at all.
I don’t think that’s the best idea cuz generally the live audience would be biased towards whoever they know best rather than objectively what they thought was the best band
Season 2 raised the bar to the next level. I enjoyed season 1 but season 2 was so much stronger because of the greater focus on music. I honestly don't know what I would recommend for improvement, it's already fantastic. Amazing job Jared, thank you for making this happen!
I really enjoyed this season. The bigger focus on music vs season 1 was really awesome to see. The individual challenges were a nice touch. The panel of judges was good. I think another music video challenge like season 1 had would be fun to have back. Switching up the vocalists was a really good twist. The level of production is amazing, great job Jared. I hope to see a Season 3 in the future. (Maybe have Matt Heafy come by if possible 👀)
Amazing production value for season 2! I love this series so much, it’s so creative and the talent is undeniable. If there is a season 3 I would like to suggest see a couple of things that might be cool: 1) More genres of music in challenges and originals, to even out the different influences. For example, the band can choose a cover of any song they want but completely make it their own. The bands can learn the song and then have to flip it to a different genre which can be preselected from the microphones. Have all 3 bands play different versions of the song. Bands have to cover each other's original songs and make it different. 2) An acoustic challenge (original or covers) 3) Not only vocalists switch but instruments get swapped too. 4) Sideproject competition, bands can collaborate with whoever they want in the house to record a single in the week. Bands record a single in the studio best season song wins towards final result. 5) more clearly defined judging structure, best lyrics, best riff, best song, best single/overall performance, best set, best tones and use of effects and innovation. 6) The bands have to learn a song they collectively never heard before and cover it. 7) bands can vote for eachother to determine bonuses kind of like a peoples choice 8) Jared gets to play/create a song with the bands too. 9) each member of the winning band gets 1000 each and a new instrument or equipment. Thanks to everyone who made this show possible!
Hey Jared! First of all, fantastic job and thank you! :D I loved this season so much, now I want to play in a band again. I hope you'll be able to do a season 3! Deciding the bands at random and on the spot was a great idea! It felt more real, and also a bit fairer than season 1 (where I kind of I felt like Graystone was set to win. I mean, they're still my favourite, but it didn't feel very fair). Giving more musical challenges was also a great idea, I think it came out really well. I really like what the bands did when their musicians were forced to get out of their comfort zones. I don't know how much of that would be doable, but I would love to see what they could come up with if you asked them to swap instruments, or forced them to play a in a weird tuning or tempo or style, or to play (or make a reference to) one of the other bands' songs, or write in the style of another band, or basically more of what happened in episodes 2, 3 and 4. Sprinkling in fun non-music things with the side quests was also really cool, it made the season more fun overall without distracting the bands away from music too much. I do like the idea of letting the bands decide whether or not to take on the side quests though, and maybe lose money if they fail (not my idea, I heard it during Cole's watchalong stream, but I like it). And the concert at the end gave everything a purpose, so it all felt more structured than season 1 (which was more fun things and less music things). Oh and the individual challenges and the guests for judging those? Perfect. I'm not fond of the "everyone wins" for the singers' challenge, though. I feel like it took away from the competition. I agree with most of what has been said about the judging (especially in Justin's comment): it sometimes felt a bit unstructured, and some of the bands didn't get a lot of constructive criticism they could build up on. Alexa getting more and more confident as the week went on is one of the (many) highlights of the season for me. I like the vibe Angel and Cole brought to the table, though. They sound like great guys who know a lot about music. Finally, while I do agree that Graystone and Rikki are hilarious, I don't agree with the other comments that suggest inviting them back for each and every season. I feel like it would defeat the purpose of the show: to me, bringing new people in the spotlight and giving them a chance to live through a really cool experience and express themselves like never before is way more interesting. Having the same people we know and love again and again is definitely gonna be fun, but it's not gonna feel new, and it might get stale after a while. (Rikki would make a great guest for judging a bass challenge, though, haha.) Overall, thank you very, very much for this show! Season 2 was incredible, even more than season 1. It's one of my favourite things ever, and a great way to spend Christmas. Can't wait to show that to my friends and family, and expose my poor grandparents to Austin and Justin's goblin noises. Peace!
It's always shown the sheer passion that you have for this community, Jared. Honestly, it's been amazing to see all of these creators come together and I can't wait to see this continue.
Season 2 was awesome! Loved the challenges giving more emphasis to the music and hearing the bands write more than one song did a better job of showing off their dynamics. Can not wait for a season 3
Great job Jared, we can see all the hard work you put in to this season. I would like to see judges who are not emotionally biased. Also judges that actually understand and appreciate heavier metal like graystone instead of viewing it as some strange concept that they can’t comprehend. Cole was a good example of a good judge in my opinion
Obsessed with the show. Great format to showcase their talents, how cool they are, and just expose people who should have been in the spotlight already. It would be a crime not to keep this show going for 50 seasons. One addition I would love to see is you and the judges making a song in 24 hours. It would work as a good intermission when everyone is exhausted, build chemistry with everyone, and make people like the judges more. Love you Jared keep up the great work!
I have never enjoyed, or been more invested in a show than I was with this! This has seriously made it to my number 1 spot of best thing I have ever watched. What a cool fucking concept, with cool ass people, and I love that all of the music leans towards the heavier side. Way to fucking go, Jared! Seriously, keep making these forever!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was amazing! I was so mad when I had to wait so long for episode four or five and six to come out. And when they did I was watching them on my brakes at work and then stayed up until 3:00 to finish the series in the same night that they came out. And I still have edge of time stuck in my head.
Season 2 stepped it up for sure, the variety of musical backgrounds I think really made this super interesting and to see everyone adapting to new styles was very cool and I'm sure each musician left this season as wiser and better musicians and people. This is straight up the best show around and I am dying to see season 3. Thank you Jared for bringing so much joy and inspiration into all of our lives. Long live Graystone and Rikki Thrash 🤘😎
I loved the improvements on S2 compared to S1. Firstly I agree 100% with Justin's comment about the judging, it was a bit all over the place. You are doing an amazing thing with this show for musicians - push that, show that people can improve from criticism and become better musicians rather than cradling egos. To add to the judging system, I liked the challenges, however it didn't feel like there was weight to the win for the challenges. I'm a fan of InkMasters and I like their formula of a dauly challenge then the winner gets to take action against the other teams. I think an episode could go like: - Challenge (e.g bass track) - Band perform a cover (offer selection) - Challenge winner chooses which band covers what song - Next day, lowest scored band gets to assign disadvantages to the other bands and challenge is making a music video (e.g video must be horror themed or only in black and grey ) Bring back some things from S1: Busking challenge was really fun, music video challenge was also super fun, roasting at the end - bring back Paula! Suggestions for challenges (both small or main): - Write a song then next challenge make it acoustic - song swap between bands (I.e bands learn each other songs or make a cover of each others songs) - make music with non metal instruments (e.g ukulele, xylophone, bongos) - theme songs (e.g black metal genre or write a song about star wars) Final criticism is I want more episodes for S3!
I loved the group and single member challenges, member swaps, the full experience with all the songs at the end and bigger format overall; thank you Jared & crew for another fun thing to watch. I posted it around the Punk-o-Matic community; big fans!
It was frustrating seeing some of the judges scores. Hiram particularly had some confusing scores. Overrating and underrating seemed to happen often, but that’s my opinion. Still loved the show and really hope to see a season 3
I feel like Hiram was also a tad biased towards graystone. He rarely if ever critiqued them it was always like "WTF JUST HAPPENED THAT WAS AWESOME AND STUPID AT THE SAME TIME"
My biggest gripe was the judging of the singer swap challenge. Yes Austin did screw up the vocal in the first chorus but he was doing something different that he doesn't do. Then graystone does the same thing they always do with a different singer because Paula hates clean vocals so you basically got graystone with a different singer playing the same thing as normal. When I feel like the point was to adapt and do something different with a different singer
Enjoyed the show. I just felt like the judges were inconsistent on a lot of fronts. I feel like Soulfire got shafted, personally. They were LOCKED IN from the beginning. Everyone else had issues here and there. Soulfire was the most consistent in quality.
I personally thought their cover of holy diver was atrocious I had a hard time understanding why it got such high scores. Still, I'm a fan of Vince after watching the season bros got such a great voice
I feel like the judges gave the fans what they wanted: A core band with a sob story to relate to. They know Jared’s main fanbase would’ve been so mad if either Graystone (who is my favorite) or Aeris didn’t win. Though I wanted Soulfire to win, the sound and aesthetic choices doomed them from the beginning. Core kids rarely have any love for 80s and blues, which is weird because that is what a lot of modern metal is built on.
Thanks for doing what you do Jared! I started watching you (and the DickeyDines) when I was around 12 or so and I'm in my 20s now, you always push your content forward and it's always refreshing! Keep it up, you're an awesome person!
I absolutely love season 2 and the way it is set up, but i would love to see some challenges off mansion like the busking in season 1. Love it and hope to see more seasons!!!
Please keep doing these Jared. So much fun. I liked everything about this season besides the participation trophies lol. Great job to you, the staff, and the contestants.
More bands , more episodes cause this is the only reality show that's ever made me want more. And I don't think I'm alone on that. You did a phenomenal job on this and I hope there's more seasons to come.
Holy moly dude. You outdid yourself. Season 2 was insane. It was a perfect season. The balance was just right in the edit. No reality tv drama, just ridiculously talented bands and the music was incredible. I couldn’t wait for the remaining episodes after watching the first three. Can’t wait for season three, if you can make it happen at some point. Congrats to everyone; cast, crew and creative.
Production was amazing and light years beyond season 1. Loved the focus on music with some shenanigans. It was cool to see people grow before our very eyes. Very motivating. Absolute bangers made and looking forward to listening to them again.
the thing that, for me, was special was that it seemed to be legit, authentic. I could feel the inspiration and creativity and I think that's the point of the show!
I'm sure you'll figure out ways to keep it new and appealing. The jump from season one to two was incredible! This next season will be even greater! You've got an incredible thing here. Btw Graystone for life 🤘🏻
Appreciate you putting this show together, been sharing with my buddies. The music from all the bands are killer and so impressive what they did in just a week. Wasn’t sure how it was judged at the end, but I think it should have been crowd voted at the end of the show for best band. We need more of this because it is real and a breath of fresh air.
I did like the individual challenges. Definitely a keeper. I like it low key, lol like you have it. It doesn’t become about the show, keep it about the talent. Not just screaming this time another plus, lots of variety in music. Keep doing it Jared.
This season was so much better than the first! The individual challenges, more music-centered, and a live performance! I wish it wasn’t a year before season three
My only major critique is the "fluffy" judging and lack of actual constructive criticism. I get it, it's 2024 and you can't flat out say someone sucks anymore without getting canceled, but ANYTHING other than what we had this season would have been better, in my opinion. It's not what you say; it's how you say it! Honesty is key! Loved this season and I have major respect for you, Jared! Thanks for your hard work and dedication!
Aeris winning instead of Greystone or Soulfire is a CRIME, like WHAT?! Come on man. Aeris had the most bland and generic songs and their vibe and energy as a band was always off. Greystone is a f*cking unstoppable force of nature and Soulfire imo had the most interesting songwriting choises and textures out of all the bands and you get a really positive vibe seeing them perform. It's a shame neither Greystone nor Soulfire won.
Yeah man. I think Aeris’ redemption story made for compelling viewing but they weren’t as good as Soulfire. I wouldn’t have said they were bland, but they didn’t have the depth that Soulfire had. I think Hiram’s judging was a bit inconsistent, throwing out crazy inflated scores for some stuff but hating on Soulfire.
I was disappointed they took the win. Soul fire was the clear cut winner. Easily. Tightest performances and best songs. Greystone is fucking phenomenal though. Man they kill it and there set was so good
Only critique is the vocalist challenge. I mean, just look at every comment on that episode. That challenge 100% went to Graystone, which would have made them S2 winners. Every band deserved to win, they were all freaking amazing. However, Graystone got robbed by overall win due to the challenge cop-out. It was harder to pick a winner in the guitar challenge, yet you could come to a conclusion. So why not the vocal challenge?
The vocal challenge was structured differently than the others. If it had been the same they could’ve done an actual comparison of the vocalists - for instance, the drum challenge was actually comparing the drumming. They SHOULD have all been given something like: the same backing track to a made up song and tasked with producing vocals. As it happened they just had to throw out the challenge itself
This is why they should have real judges as other pointed out fairly in other comments, and not call winners based on YT comments... just look at most of the videos, the Graystone fans are the most obsessed people, they think Graystone should've won every single challenge lol.
They werent letting Graystone win back to back. It would have been to controversial with Austin being Jareds bestfriend and they already won season 1. Thats why I say they shouldnt have repeat bands. It ruins the integrity of the show.
Jared can do whatever he wants, it's his show. If him and the judges don't want Greystone to win 2 seasons in a row and wants the band that made the judges cry to win because it makes for a better program, then it's his choice. As much as I love Greystone, I was happy that Aeris won because they deserve it, in my opinion. All of the musicians that participated are taking massive Ws because they had an awesome experience, made money, and got TONS of exposure/publicity. So if that's how they decide it to be in the end and everyone's happy, then it should be fine.
Loved the fact that you brought in a lot of influencers/musicians that I’ve never heard of! You should definitely bring in people that don’t have a lot of exposure and give them a time to shine!! I love these episodes and hope you can crank them out more often!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I loved that element too! It was nice to see familiar faces in rhe first season. But this season was good for people I hadn't heard of. I'm not now following them all and somw of their bands ! ❤😊
The editing and production are dialed up considerably from the first season, as others have noted. It felt like this was a Hail Mary attempt to sell it to a network or streaming service, and I think it absolutely could make that leap, sincerely. I think that, given the general audience may not know some of the cast, take a play from other bigger reality shows and put together an intro package for each person, within the first episode. It’s a fine line, as not to drag the vibe, but take note of every other reality show that needs to intro unknown people. Big shout out to the camera work, the editing, and anyone that opted to ditch the non-musical main challenges - that tightened everything up in a MASSIVE way. I full expect to see season 3, and I would not be surprised if it wound up on Prime or Netflix. Keep up the amazing work 🤙
Criticism? wtf, we need 999999 more episodes man, that's it, music needs this, real musicians getting tested in hard envs, this is so interesting to watch because you are able to learn how complicated is to make music with a band, its not a group of talented guys doing things, they need more than that, please never stop, you are building here something beautiful
Season 2 was definitely more "put together" than season 1... I REALLY dug the early 2000's MTV vibe (intro, confessionals, etc)... That being said, I definitely would've liked to see how the judging worked. It seems like the fans kinda ratioed the judges when asked who was going to win, so I am genuinely lost on how that decision came to be... BUT, another season would be awesome 🫡
@@dylanburton4955 I understand that part, I'm just wondering how we (the fans) voted the exact opposite of the outcome lol. I think the poll was literally 1)Greystone, 2)Soulfire, 3)Aeris.... And then the results drop, literally the opposite of what we voted haha... I just thought it was odd
I wonder, for the next season, if it'd be at all possible to have a fan competition for a spot in the cast. Like setting up an online audition for smaller musician RUclipsrs & having the winner come and be a part of this. That would be a great promo for the show _and_ a chance to give exposition to a lesser known artist.
It was absolutely amazing. I love the increase in musical challenges. Maybe something for S3 live preformance: let the audience participate in judging maybe a smaller pool of money compared to the judges
Loved this season, especially the ending with the live show, brought everything together. The focus on creativity, music challenges - everything feels more dynamic and alive. Also liked the judging process and discussions. Overall it's an awesome show, cheered me up and inspired me after long hard year. Love the whole team, thank you! ❤
We need the next season to be focused the bands making a full ep together with the song challenges. Like, only 4 songs and no longer than 30 minutes. With the bands playing their EPs live at the end.
Would be good to do to have more consistency in bands tbf but i quite like the sporadic nature that each song may be wildly different to the next due to the different influences each band has. Think it would be hard to write a full proper ep over the course of a week.. much harder than random songs for sure..
My biggest gripe is with the manufactured drama from aeris then them winning because the judges sympathized with the manufactured drama. I know that wasnt on production and the band chose to do it. I see a lot of people calling for a more structured judging system and i think that would fix a lot of problems i have.
I loved season one sooooo much but season two seriously hit it right out of the park! Everything was bigger and better! The challenges were great the people were amazing! Truly did not want it to end! I’d love for you to keep this up! I’m so happy you took all the cretic from the first and made this amazing! Thanks!!!!
The flow of the season was perfect! Honestly this felt like such a cohesive product and like something I could show others, while season 1 felt more like a RUclipsr thing with more inside jokes and things that if you know some of the creators then you can follow along. Season 2 is something that music lovers can appreciate, having the show focus on creating the music that they will perform live in the end was a great idea!
I think it makes more sense to do something like this in season 4 or 5. Have the winners from seasons 1 to 3 come back and compete against one another.
I’m a 38 year old dude and even I got a little chocked up seeing Aeris win! I was literally grinning from ear to ear and clapping along with everyone else when Jared announced their win! I thought the cast this year was such a fun bunch of people and everyone was really talented. The live shows were killer and I thought that was a really fun element to end the show with. It’s impressive they all played so well to a crowd for the short time those bands were put together in, a real testament to how talented they all are and obviously I know they’ve played live shows before but still, coming together and pulling it off in such a small time is still impressive. The thing I like about the show is that it turns people onto new musicians. All the songs were great and the covers were really fun as well. Only thing I would have liked to see was more people from season 1 come back but that’s my only complaint. Really fun show and that’s coming from someone who hates reality tv lol
the only thing i would like to see more is clips from the musician just vibing it out and not constantly be challenged because its so rare to see so much talented people get together, i think it would be nice to share that raw energy as much as possible. thank you jared for this awesome show!
I LOVED Season 1, and I loved Season 2 even more. I think the one thing that I missed from Season 1 was the round table/reflection/roasting from the end of Season 1. That was really touching and one of my favorite parts of the whole season. I would loved to have seen more interactions from the musicians outside of their bands. Also, what so many others have said, the judging... I know you probably could not have predicted that this would be an issue. But now you know. Thanks for all the hard work you do with this show, Jared. It is SO well done and I feel like this was made just for me.
Dude it’s an incredible series. Keep the production level on par. KEEP THE SOUND CREW THAT MIXED THE LAST SHOW. Make it a little longer, if possible. Make the final vote a mix of Judges, Online Fans, and Live Show Fans. I wanted Greystone to win at first, but after Aeris played, I completely agree with their win!!!
I'm sure it's already on the list, but giving the band some in ear monitors would help out a ton. I know it got mentioned towards the end, but even from experience, they're a game changer
@@whalexxvi7011 I don't know man, the thought of being that social and open to constructive criticism and as we saw, some form of band dramas, that's challenging enough
season 2 was awesome. the only criticism i have is that there is no roast at the end like last season. Paola is hilarious and i wish we got to see her humour just a little more 😂
It was an amazing TV show. Me and my wife are waiting for next seasons. Very good job Jared. We were enjoying and having so much fun watching all those incredibly talented musicians. Good luck man!
Hi from France, I'm just halfway through season 2, but we can already tell there's been a huge step up. Season 1 was truly enjoyable, season 2 is great so far. It's nice to see more focus on the music. The cast is great and extremely talented. Great work from everyone, and great entertainment. I hope you'll be able to make a season 3 !
The judges should have five categories:
I agree that establishing a metric for critique is essential in anything that is this subjective.
pretty much agree
im big on graystone, that being said imo soulfire was objectively the best band this season tho.
love ya to pieces justin, and i really enjoy me some fun metal things and the rest of the gang.
but if you participate next time again PLEASE enter as a vocalist, im not trying to diminish your ability as a bassist, in fact i think youre killing it. but everyone who knows you, also knows your true power lies within your insane vocal abilities.
youve worked so hard for these skills, show em to a wider audience.
Very good point. It seemed the judging was a mix of emotion and analysis, alot of times swaying one way or the other more. I think what you described and adding that each judge should level at least one constructive criticism for each band would help each band and musician grow, because we are all wanting to get better I think, I include myself in that.
I agree.
loved the drums, bass, guitar, individual challenges KEEP THAT
Yea I thought that was a great change and shows that individual style
yeah more bass solos please
yeah, the individual challenges were a cool showcase for the...well, individuals.
Definitely the right move!
Hear hear!!!
I believe some individual awards would be amazing in Season 3. For example: Best Live Performer, Best Glue (that keeps the band together), Most Improved Artist, Best Mentor (someone that helps others) etc etc
Love this! Further recognition
Best overall musician would be cool too. I was so impressed by Logan's drumming and singing.
Good call, I definitely agree
With a trophy or medals!
Yeah, I agree they should begin award for stage performance. Because Greystone would be pretty sick to see live.
Constructive Feedback:
My 1 main issue when watching the show was the judges not being critical enough, especially when there were some obvious issues.
I agree judges were not great judges lots of personal taste involved the challenges need to be more technical for skills instead of taste
Yeah the judges only gave positive feedback for the most part. Someone needs to tell the Vocalist to Aeris she can't sing.
NO participation trophies !
@@ebenezerspludge8369 They sounded FANTASTIC dude. Soulful and brutal. I was blown away by their performance of "Respect".
The challenges were awesome this season, especially having the vocalists switch bands. That alone produced some of the best songs of the season.
Vince's song with Aeris might be my favorite of the season. Loved that challenge.
man Graystone with Casey....unreal. 100% agree it produced some of the best songs!!
while I'm not 100% in line with the scoring results, S2 was a huge advancement on season 1 (which was great)
really a fun watch, and I hope you keep doing it in the future.
big props to sweetwater et. al. for funding it.
You can’t just say that because your favourite band lost :(
@@plazimathe best band lost.
@@testingmyaudioaddiction3452 IKR, Vince's vocals were practically flawless for the whole set, and Chena and Garrett were super tight and so was Logan, and Rikki like they said is his own show, the whole band had the best performance imo
Edit: Tbf, it was extremely hard to give a realistic ranking bc everyone did amazing, if there was a time to make everyone a winner it wasn't the fucking vocal challenge it should've been the live performance lol.
@@testingmyaudioaddiction3452 oh I like that idea!
+1 on the redemption season, and yes, Soulfire was the best band ^^
Genuinely one of the best productions on RUclips. The bands were all so good it was unbelievable. Props to everyone involved. Jared, the judges, the production crew and definitely the musicians. Can't possibly fiend anymore than I am now for another season.
can't imagine the technical challenges...the production people just killed it!!!
let the sponsors know how awesome this is
Written perfectly
Whatever you do in season 3, make sure Greystone is in it (not as a cameo)!
Absolutly love what you did with season 2, keep it going + what Justin said!
Bring back GRAYSTONE! btw hi Munk
Season 2 was way more polished than Season 1.
Graystone has to be in every season, they're just so chaotic and without them in the show, it would lose that craziness.
I love the fun between Rikki and Austin especially when Austin had his sunglasses lol.
Rikki needs to come back too lol.
Rikki needs to be a judge if not a participant for sure
My only criticism…I would have watched double the episodes. Best videos on RUclips right now.
Totally thinking along similar lines. An unplugged episode.
Graystone already did acoustic deathcore🤣
Required genre is a nice idea! 👍
Well there was constructed drama if you watched the vlogs. But at least they are transparent about and the show is not taking itself too seriously
@@baal7793 Yeah there was a little manufactured drama, but I didn't mind it.
Also, we need a RikkiDickeyDines show. Rikki said he was down damnit!
This!
I'd pay for that, lol. Rikki is an entertainer through and through.
PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
RIIIIIKKKKIIIIII will forever be stuck in my head 😂
They’ll probably have each band on like they did for season 1
Loved season 2. One thing I missed from season 1 was the sort of 'after show debrief' section, where the musicians have done it all and could just relax and celebrate what they achieved. They're all so focussed on what they have to do that it would be nice to see everyone reflect a bit more on other bands and individual's achievments etc. I know it might be difficult to include something that and make the show still tight though.
I agree! It would be awesome to watch a party or reunion where they talk about the experience, challenges, growth, to do some sillyness
You get to see a lot more of the downtime in the individual vlogs so I’d recommend checking those out
Bringing the guests like Howard Jones in to judge challenges was cool, but it’d be even better if the guests get more involved in some way, a feature, assist with a song, or something like that
Howard should have been such a cool guest too have on the show, too..
Sucks that he didn't seem to be very talkative or in the mood for doing a video.. def noticed how little he had to say and how totally unusable his 'feedback' was. Not picking a winner too? Cmon man, it was a bit of a letdown
Yes definitely a great idea 🤘
Yes, i felt that the judges were partial
Agree.
And if they want to make growth a factor in the judging than maybe make it 10$ or something and if you get a 10/10 and incorporate previous criticism it can have a multiplying feature or something
Yea agreeeeee... Have some criteria to guide them towards a more consistent judgement
Same
My criticism for last season was wanting more music and this season you delivered multiple times over. Thank you for such a kickass show.
Maybe that keeps things a tad more objective.
yeah get them to do like a rating out of 100 each for every song and just take that number as a percentage and multiply it by however much money is up for grabs on that song
so say they gave it a 92/100 and there was $250 up for grabs you just do 0.92 x 250 for a total of $230
then repeat this for each judge and total it
I said no notes but I do have to agree with this. It might also be cool to have categories to rate? Like performance, technicality, musicality(kind of the catch all how it felt?). I dunno, something like that where bands could really shine and score high in their element, but have a chance to really work on other aspects and surprise everyone?
I think that Graystone is already a mascot of the show, they need to come back at season 3
"mascot" or not.
Suggested this in another thread, but I hope Graystone returns in Season 3 as one of the judges! The entire band acting as one judge :D
5. Maybe expose the bands to more genres a little more?
yeah ditch Hiram
i agree man, hiram always started with some meaningless un-constructive disrespectful bs, then glazed over it with a half assed positive comment
Thing with Hiram tho is that he was the only critical judge. He was the only one to be brave enough to say something negative which this show NEEDS.
@user-bf6gz8ej4o I agree but there's a fine line between being critical and a cocksucker
Don't get me wrong I love Graystone they are my favorite but Hiram definitely played favorites with those guys. The other 2 judges although they gave higher scores, it seemed like they were consistent with the criteria they were judging on.
Graystone is genuinely such a unique deathcore band, their finale performance was amazing, Dickies vocals are super diverse and he always keeps it interesting, they gotta tour now
Season two was PHENOMENAL! I was looking at your channel everyday waiting for the next episodes to release. THAT'S how hooked I was
That singer challenge vote (everyone wins participation trophy) was a giant slap in the face.
Other than that, entertaining show, but undeserving winning band.
absolutely agree with this
Absolutely
They did the same with the guitar challenge. Giving her the win for improvement when the other 2 killed it with all 3 backing tracks.
Legit my only "criticism" would be make it 40000 episodes long so I can have more lol. This is the best thing on RUclips, thank you!
Right!
It's crazy how Jared put together a reality show thats better than anything big TV networks have released in decades.
@@JimenaFosadoyou're badass btw! Your PRS is gorgeous too!
Dude this season was amazing, some if the best ”tv” content ever. Watched it 2 times and it’s just so good
A PHENOMENAL season. I loved how varied the challenges were. If the third season follows the same “formula” as season two I have no problem with that, and I am looking forward to season three immensely. Great job, Jared, and to all the musicians involved.
I would've liked the crowds pick at the final show. I think that would've been cool to see how they perceived the bands from a single live set.
I think a crowd like that would naturally vote for the heavier band when playing live.
@@TysonPJ - Not necessarily, it can also really come down to how they do their crowd work. In this case my guess would be the same either way as graystone from the show footage looked like they absolutely killed the stage show with the crowd
Maybe not 100% crowd vote, but they should definitely vote and influence the final score.
If there is a season 3 I would like to suggest see a couple of things that might be cool:
1) More genres of music in challenges and originals, to even out the different influences. For example, the band can choose a cover of any song they want but completely make it their own. The bands can learn the song and then have to flip it to a different genre which can be preselected from the microphones. Have all 3 bands play different versions of the song. Bands have to cover each other's original songs and make it different.
2) An acoustic challenge (original or covers)
3) Not only vocalists switch but instruments get swapped too.
7) bands can vote for eachother to determine bonuses kind of like a peoples choice
8) Jared gets to play/create a song with the bands too.
(Rikki would make a great guest for judging a bass challenge, though, haha.)
Overall, thank you very, very much for this show!
Ooh I like that idea.
I love how this show, unlike 99% of reality shows, doesn’t have fake scripted drama.
Honestly, no criticism I really liked this one. A huge leap from S1 imo. I hope a lot of people watch this. Gj jared and crew
I think an episode could go like:
- Challenge (e.g bass track)
- Band perform a cover (offer selection)
- Challenge winner chooses which band covers what song
- Next day, lowest scored band gets to assign disadvantages to the other bands and challenge is making a music video (e.g video must be horror themed or only in black and grey )
Bring back some things from S1: Busking challenge was really fun, music video challenge was also super fun, roasting at the end - bring back Paula!
Suggestions for challenges (both small or main):
- Write a song then next challenge make it acoustic
- song swap between bands (I.e bands learn each other songs or make a cover of each others songs)
- make music with non metal instruments (e.g ukulele, xylophone, bongos)
- theme songs (e.g black metal genre or write a song about star wars)
Final criticism is I want more episodes for S3!
Well said !
Hiram was a terrible judge. Super picky about things that didn’t matter and then overhyping the most mid moments
@ totally agree
Wasn’t just you. I had issues with him as well. My wife got so pissed at his scoring she couldn’t even finish an episode with me lol.
Enjoyed the show. I just felt like the judges were inconsistent on a lot of fronts. I feel like Soulfire got shafted, personally. They were LOCKED IN from the beginning. Everyone else had issues here and there. Soulfire was the most consistent in quality.
Soulfire coming in 3rd place is insane. The judges really just did whatever they felt like in the moment this season. No consistency
I personally thought their cover of holy diver was atrocious I had a hard time understanding why it got such high scores. Still, I'm a fan of Vince after watching the season bros got such a great voice
I liked Holy Diver. I thought In the Air Tonight was not good.@@onionheadguy7094
I feel like the judges gave the fans what they wanted:
A core band with a sob story to relate to.
I wish Soulfire used more Acapella in their songs cause it was one of their most strongest points of that band that no other band had.
I would love to see each band's do a genre out of their style. Would be fun to see.
Graystone has got to come back that's for sure.
Plus the winner from series 2 in some format or another depending on what challenge are included in season 3 🤞
This was the most incredible show on youtube. I was blown away by everything! Thank You Jared! Can't wait for season 3! Make it happen.
More bands , more episodes cause this is the only reality show that's ever made me want more. And I don't think I'm alone on that.
You did a phenomenal job on this and I hope there's more seasons to come.
Honestly, I think more bands would hurt the pacing the show
Agreed I think any more than three would be a bit too jumbled and hard to keep up with 🤔 @@krobb1290
Amazing job Jared, such a step up from season 1 which was already great! Keep it up, best reality show!
66Samus for drum judge
ohhhhh yuuurrrr!
Or as a musician who has to work with others.
Agreed!
DAVIE504 FOR BASS JUDGE.
Hell go full meme, Kmac2021 for vocal judge as the plot twist of the century. I'm sure he'd love that.
Samus would complain when there’s not enough farts!🤣🤣🤣
Production was amazing and light years beyond season 1. Loved the focus on music with some shenanigans. It was cool to see people grow before our very eyes. Very motivating. Absolute bangers made and looking forward to listening to them again.
A HUGE step up from season 1. Kept it more about the music which was incredible!
Incredible show! Blown away by the season finale and performances!
the thing that, for me, was special was that it seemed to be legit, authentic.
Bro i binged the whole show in 1 day.. incredible content, you should be proud.. the bands were fantastic and their final performances were 10/10
This season was like a dream! Loved the music made. Loved the people!
Just watched season 1 - 2 back to back - all I can say is totally kick ass job - love it all - DON’T STOP KEEP IT GOING !!!!!!!!
Loving it! So happy you & others like Nik continue to make content. It always feels like a blast from the past for me 😂 We old...
fr been watching Jared way before I found Nik. Would love to see other OGs like Rob Scallon come on the show !
Bro. Fantastic work on the series. Loved season 2 and excited for season 3!
Superb show, please do more.
First RUclips channel to feel like a massive budget show.
Great work
I was in tears by the end of the finale. Really. Thank You. The show was so incredible!
I wasn't in tears,but I was a little verklempt, so have a thumbs up.
I did like the individual challenges. Definitely a keeper. I like it low key, lol like you have it. It doesn’t become about the show, keep it about the talent. Not just screaming this time another plus, lots of variety in music. Keep doing it Jared.
I’ve been looking at the same stars as you…. Really great work J! Can’t wait for more!
Really enjoyed. My kids watched watch it with me. 15b, 12g, 10b. They all play instruments, and they really enjoyed the song creation process.
The 1 week redemption story was not good enough to overcome how much better the other 2 bands were.
@@blackmamba5659 could smell the DEI from a mile away in that one lol
I was disappointed they took the win. Soul fire was the clear cut winner. Easily. Tightest performances and best songs. Greystone is fucking phenomenal though. Man they kill it and there set was so good
@@tj-zc7ce exactly this. and it is a shame.
@@atka0076tbf, Greystone isn't even really the type of metal I really enjoy myself but I think they sounded the most practiced ironically
I don’t think the audience poll was ever gonna play a factor into who won cuz all this was pre-filmed in advance
This would be awesome! I’d love to audition if there will be any!
Graystone was robbed because of participation awards for the vocal challenge. If they don’t come back for season 3, we riot.
100%
They need to be in season 3. It won't be the same.
We riot!
Philadelphia style!
Austin did deserve to win that one. “This diiiiiiistuunce” 👌🏼👌🏼
If they do another season, I’d like to see the bands from season 1 and 2 compete in musician mansion 3.
Then there will be a person there will have to play in two bands ...
@@Tbasker get another person then
I think it makes more sense to do something like this in season 4 or 5. Have the winners from seasons 1 to 3 come back and compete against one another.
Even though it wasn't as focused on music challenges, Season 1 was still an absolutely entertaining show.
I wanted Greystone to win at first, but after Aeris played, I completely agree with their win!!!
online and live show fans participating would be awesome!
I'm sure it's already on the list, but giving the band some in ear monitors would help out a ton. I know it got mentioned towards the end, but even from experience, they're a game changer
Yeah, I was really confused when they mentioned they didn't have in-ears or anything. That's kind of a gimme for live performance these days.
That would make it too easy in my opinion, no click track 🚫🚫
