  • Chevy's smaller truck offering, the Colorado, is capable of towing up to 7000 lbs when properly configured. The off-road focused ZR2 trim, however, is only rated for 5000. So how does it handle a steel trailer and a Honda Talon UTV?

Thanks for the video, but I was hoping you would talk more about the tow buttons on the ZR2. I guess I have to read the manual. 😀

I have the base model 2019 2wd and 6cyl and it pulls a 19foot boat around 3800# no problem. 2wd fine for pulling up ramps fine as long as you don’t get in a wet or slippery one. You feel the boat back there though and my folding tongue on the trailer causes a lot of that due to the play. Long trips wear you out. But the engine is not the issue.

Chevrolet makes the standard key on some models still because you dont have to work on the electronic push button crap.

It's nice if that truck is actually rated for the weight. I just purchased a 2018 ZR2 4WD Crew Cab 2.8 Diesel and which has only 6200 lbs towing capacity based on the VIN. Most open publications say anywhere from 5000 - 7700 lbs but that extremely poor and false information. Even the dealer parts, service or sales know the true capacity. My 2018 for example is rated at only 6200 because of the front and rear gearing of 3.42. This is a good gear setup for hwy and mileage benefits but not for towing. I recommend everyone to check with their dealer and get factual data based on VIN
