I've never had a problem with my Timbs. I have two pairs, one in wheat and recently the black one. I wear them with long socks as with all boots. Most people that wear boots anyway, wear them with long socks as it prevents the leather from rubbing into your ankles to prevent blisters and whatnot. On top of that, I'd lace them up tight. It's the only way I wear my boots. I don't like having them loose like how celebrities lace them, though I understand it's for aesthetic. But for a boot, you'd want it secure on your feet as much as possible. Tying your laces all the way also helps the leather mould into your foot a lot better and it would help with making it a lot more comfortable for you. If you're planning on rocking it like how rappers and celebrities wear them, then you can expect some pains.
Actually, I found the opposite to be true. And this is why I feel that rappers wear them loose, because of the pain. When I wear them snug and laced up, it presses the leather fold into my skin, causing it to pinch when I walk. Being from Texas, I am no stranger to boots. I've been wearing them all my life. As such, I wear all my boots with long, thick socks. These Timbs though, I think certain pairs just have a defect in the tongue that causes them to pinch when laced up. I haven't purchased a second pair yet, but I plan to buy a pair of in Wheat. I will definitely take your advice and test them out with a pair of long socks and laced up snugly. Hopefully the next pair is defect-free.
Update Quick fix: I cant believe this worked but it did . Tie up your shoe using either holes 1,2,3, 4 and 7 or 1,2 , 3 and 7 . The key is you need to use hole 7 (the last hole ) so that it tightens the shoe at the top and it leaves the middle loose so that piece doesn't hit the ankle. Also using pliars to soften the leather by pinching that piece will help . Certainly shouldn't have to do this with an expensive pair of boots though , but if you wanted to give it another try I think this would work.
Worked for me to.. tie up in 1,2,3 and the blank 4 and the tie 5 and 6.. then there is no tension on the double stiches. That gives nettet tension a-bombe the ankles
I had that same issue 10 yrs ago with my pair, thought it was only me. Ate thru the skin so stopped wearing them. Funny thing now is that I just bought some Basics and they're more comfortable, lightweight, TTS, more traction and don't eat into my ankle. I'll let haters hate on Basics, but they work better for me 👍
The right shoe did that and also hit my big toe. I fixed it by pinching the edge of the collar and it stopped doing it after the third wear when I laced it up to 7th hole. It pinched pretty significantly when it got tied up to the 5th hole.
U can remove the insole. Shoes back on the day dont have insoles on them. I go blister with this timberland fom the back of my ankle and i freggin bought this blister padding for shoes cost only 3$
I had the same problem with my Tim Port Unions. BEAUTIFUL boot but crippling effect on my outer (lateral) sides of both ankles. I was going to return them until I did some research and found an alternative lacing. I wish I could upload a pic and show you guys but I don't know how to do it on you tube.
I always wear two pairs of socks, the outer ones being thick homemade wool socks and I've never had that issue. I do supinate a lot so maybe that is the reason?
@@bird2002 Maybe my supination is the reason then? I also have them in 1 or 2 sizes bigger, because they're my winter shoes and they're tied loose enough for me to not need to untie them. To me they're very comfortable but the toe box could be bigger. I suppose the comfort of shoes or clothing is always very subjective. I know a lot of people love Dr Martens and when I tried a pair once I realised that I'd never pay that kind of price for uncomfortable overpriced garbage that I think they are.
@@bird2002 I think I did actually have a little bit of chafing on one foot when they were brand new though, but it quickly went away because the leather got softer when I used them a lot. I tried them barefoot now and I couldn't feel anything being uncomfortable, so if you don't want to cut them you could maybe try to skip holes (4th or 5th maybe) to relieve the pressure or use some sort of leather conditioner on the inside to soften it up faster. It seems it would be a great idea for Timberland to change this design since there were many complaints about this when I googled also.

I also tried to tie the laces very loose, but it didn't help much. I returned them and bought a pair of Wolverine boots that look like Timbs and have a similar tongue/fold, but they didn't hurt. IDK man, it was just the Timbs. They should design them better IMHO.

I wish I could help but I returned mine to the store. I've considered buying a new pair just to see if I could fix them. This however, is just a theory. I haven't tried it, but it's worth a shot. Do you have the black or wheat colored boots?

I did not go with another paid of Timbs. I ended up purchasing the Wolverine Floorhand in black (amzn.to/3WwooKS for less than half the price of Timbs) and they have similar construction and comfort, but they are not nearly as stylish as the Timbs. I wear my Wolverines for doing electrical work, yard work, or going to my ranch on the weekend where the ground is usually wet or muddy. They've held up really well over the last few years, but they are not winning any beauty contests. I've put my boots through hell though, so I'm sure if I'd worn them fashionably and kept up with polishing them, they might still look as great as the day I bought them. It just depends on what you're wearing them for. As for comfort though, the Wolverine's are just as comfy and I can work an 8hr shift on my feet without much discomfort.
@@bird2002 Thanks for the response , for me I wanted stylish and comfortable and these certainly didn't fit the comfort part .
