I saw these guys live in Montana when I was in highschool with a bunch of my friends and during the concert I was singing to every song and I think Kyle must have taken notice because he took the drumsticks and handed them to me. I remember visibly freaking out like a cringy idiot when I met him at a festival in my home town. Told him he was one of my major inspirations as a vocalist and hoped to be in his position one day. Later when they performed he specifically pointed at me during "Beliefs" ( I was the only person in that direction) when he sang the words "I believe in you" We made eye contact and shared a brief visual moment. One of my best memories and I'm extremely happy I got to have that experience before his passing. RIP man. Along with Chris from The Bunny The Bear, Trevor from Black Dhalia Murder, and now recently Jordan Blake, all my favorite vocalists having been dropping left and right. It's super sad. I'm thankful to all of them.

It does hurt, but for me it's the only way to release the pain and the tears. I'll play To Plant A Seed or anything similar, pack like 3 bowls of 🔥🔥🔥🔥 green, smoke and just let the tears fall. It makes me grateful that I didn't kill myself in 2015 even though I wanted to almost every day. I was mentally and emotionally abused by my mother as a kid which led to me being homeless and in my early 30s, had basically given up on life. Sought out therapy because I knew something was wrong mentally but didn't know how to explain it, and eventually moved out of the hell hole I grew up in to a quieter town 20 minutes away. 4 years later and I still have issues but therapy has taught me to understand what my triggers are and how to better deal with them. Bands like WCAR have literally saved my life. I play their music almost daily on repeat for hours...

Damn I'll never forget when they came to Las Vegas in I believe 2011 or 2012, headlining at the Hard Rock Cafe. They performed damn near all of To Plant A Seed, and their encore song was To Plant A Seed. Fucking amazing. Their performance sounded exactly like if not better than their recorded songs. Kyle hit every fucking note too...Got a free WCAR Wristband too. Not much but I was so entirely grateful and held it dear to me for so long " we are nothing without brotherhood " it read....I was in the 6th grade. Now I'm 22. So sad Kyle is now only remembered in past tense. This band helped me with so much and made me who I am today.

I hadn't listened to their music since Kyle had died. Its been 4 years. Then this year on the anniversary week of his death, I finally had the courage and strength to. I never really got to mourn his death because I was going through a trying time im my life when I heard the news. Spent the next week after binge listening to them and then I just stopped. Then when the day came a few months ago, and I listened to them again. I broke down in tears for a long time. It had finally hit me that he died and I did not know how to handle it at that moment so then again, binge listened to them for a whole week and half in honor and memory of him. Thought I was okay. Seeing this just now after all this time, I just bust out crying because I remembered back when I saw them on their tracing back roots tour oct. 12 2013 in san diego, was the best moment of my life. I had yelled out to him from front row as he was coming from back stage and he gave me the heart symbol and I held his hand for one of the performances and snapped a pic of it. I kept staring at my hand for several days after that. It was the best day ever. And I am just lucky and blessed for those precious momenta shares between us because now its like gold and priceless now. It won't ever get easier for me I think. Maybe. But who knows. Him and this band took me through the 3 roughest years of high school (9-11) before my life changed and so it personally hits me because he saved me and now all we have is these videos to relive him by. My heart still hurts over it. I love you Kyle Pavone! And we all miss you terribly! 🕊😭💔

Choi's cymbal work is so underrated, especially @ 2:27. The way he incorporates literally every cymbal into playing while keeping the beat is crazy. As a white drummer, I have to limit myself to only a crash and ride cymbal because I don't harness the Asian gene of excellence.
The bastard even throws stick twirls into the mix to make me feel worse about my drumming capabilities. You can see the difference he makes in this song as well as Hope and To Plant A Seed. Mad props to him, keep doing that crazy shit, I see you.

I hate to try to steer you back to your heavy metal shit but have you heard I, Valiance's latest EP 'The Reject of Humanity'?... Its pretty a fucking insane heavy hitting nightmare. Luckily for me I've always had a wide range for my music taste, even besides metal, so I've gotten to enjoy these bands and the heavier bands. Sadly most people only stick to one genre for their little image. But incase you haven't heard them and are interested look up their video for The Pillars Of Ruin. Also A Night In Texas' new album The God Delusion is pretty awesome. Both bands have gnarly vocalists.

    Lyrics
    I've been sleeping on stones
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
My mistakes are easier made a second time
And I can't move on since I've closed my eyes
    Since I've closed my eyes
I've cut off myself from everybody else
To move on is to grow, yet I haven't been able to accomplish either
I know the way to go, yet I can't bring myself to move forward
I've been sleeping on stones and they've formed to my spine
My once straight back, now a crooked line
I've broken no bones, and I appear to be just fine
My life's been emptied from the inside
Every decision is easier made a second time
Every decision is easier made a second time
But once you start down one line
Oh, the distance becomes greater to change your mind
Change your mind to change the way you're living your life
To move on is to grow, yet we can barely accomplish either on our own
We know the way to go, yet we follow those with their eyes closed
    I've been sleeping on stones
We've been sleeping on stones and they've formed to our spines
Our once straight backs now just crooked lines
When we all wake up inside the beds in which we lie
We will wish we had stopped the first time
When we wake up to the lives that we've created
We'll see we built nothing, but destroyed it
So turn around and head back the way you came
    I'll follow you, encourage you
    I'll follow you, encourage you
We'll be steadfast in our way
And as we make it back to where our lives branched off
We will take the path we should have taken all along
Once you start down one line
Oh, the distance becomes greater to change your mind
Change your mind to change the way you're living your life
To move on is to grow, to change the way you're living your life
To move on is to grow, to change the way you're living your life

This song definitely gives me nostalgia. I loved WCAR and this was my favorite song by them. I still like their first album, but I'm not a fan of their more recent stuff. I'm into heavier music now, but bands like WCAR and Attack Attack! will always be those bands I remember loving when hardcore music was still new to me.

Jon Forbes Yeah. Most bands either got heavier or lighter. Any band who dares make music like this will most likely get yelled at for being "generic". It seems like all I see on videos for new bands is people calling music generic because it can cleans, screams, and breakdowns. People don't realize that those features are what make the genre. I don't know what people expect.

    • @213Gremlin
      @213Gremlin 8 месяцев назад

@@ShakeNBlake513 honestly, losing the people around you is rough and isolating. You can't control what the brain fixates on and you find unhealthy ways to cope. But I do feel like over time, eventually your brain will get tired stewing in that shit, and eventually you will get better. Not perfect, but better.
I personally try to force myself to meet new people and learn new things. The key is to not stagnate and force yourself to keep moving even when you don't want to until you build up a habit of doing things that distract you long enough to move past. It's not the healthiest way to deal with a problem, but it's my way.
I ain't fucking dead yet, so I shouldn't live like I am. But it does feel like I wasted the best years and am only cherishing the second half, so it's a big bummer.

The subtle pluck of a pick against a guituar string, the reverb of the drums against the room. Hearing every vocal as clear as diamond. That is the power of a pc with a sound card and 270 dollar seinheiser headphones.

This album was such a seminal piece of music for the core movement. And there's almost no better track than this one to prove it. The guitar work was so clean, just technical enough to really show off the chops, but not so much so that the average listener can't groove. The drum work is so chaotic and yet so streamlined and chunky. The bass sits perfectly in the mix and holds the low end. And the vocals and synths... that chorus hits like a truck. It's the size of Jupiter and has so much emotion in it. These guys made their mark and didn't miss a beat. RIP to Kyle. You made this core kid's life a lot easier back in high school.
