Nahh fuck that we need that metallica, motley crue, black sabbath, joy division type of bands back. This screamo thing was cool back in 2011 but damn it sure did kill "rocknroll" from mainstream and made rap take over.. thats why most ppl dont even listen to rock/metal anymore because of shit like this my opinion.. now everybody likes that screamo rap crap...

    [LYRICS]
How stubborn are the scars when they won't fade away?
Or just a gentle reminder that now are better days?
We'll be home soon, so dry your eyes
    You'll be okay,
    You'll be okay
    Oh my God
The water is rising, its rising
You just have to believe in me
Failing that I'll ride this storm alone
We can still make it out
    Fuck
I can help you through this
But you have to take my hand
    I can take you home
    Take my hand
    Take my hand
I should've known the tides are getting higher
    We can still survive
    They think we're drowning
But our heads are still above the waves
    Above the waves
I should've known the tides are getting higher
    We can still survive
    Above the waves
I should've known the tides are getting higher
I should've known the tides are getting higher
    We can still survive
    You never said goodbye (Goodbye)
    You never said goodbye (Goodbye)
    You never said goodbye (Goodbye)
    You never said goodbye (Goodbye)
And now your on your own
    You never said goodbye

When I first heard this new song from AA when I was 15 y.o. I thought I had a grasp on it. As I age I have noticed a tendency to die inside every time I hear this song, yet it fills me with great hope at the same time. This song opens the gate to reminiscing on all the childhood friends and family I have lost to od, suicide, murder and other traumas so I may somewhat repair the damage that has been done yet will never get over. Anyone who tells you to just "get over it" is either hiding extreme trauma or has yet to experience it, there is no in-between with people who address grief in such a harsh manner.

But you have to take my hand!
    I can take you home,
    Take my hand,
    Take my hand!
I should've known the tides were getting higher.
    We can still survive.
They think we're drowning but our heads are still above the waves,
    Above the waves.
(I should've known the tides were getting higher)
    (We can still survive)
    (Above the waves)
(I should've known the tides were getting higher)
(I should've known the tides were getting higher)
    We can still survive!
    You never said goodbye, goodbye!
    [x4]

    You never said goodbye!
    You never said goodbye, goodbye!

Not a single one of you understand this kind of music. You have to understand that he was 17-18 when he made this song. He's been though a lot in his life, and he writes these lyrics as a form of relief. And he writes them in a way where anybody, adults and kids included, can relate. He's doing no harm to you people who decide to criticize this music, by writing about how he feels. He's doing more right now than any of you criticizers will ever do in your entire life. He's saved a lot of people with depression or anger, or however you want to take these lyrics as. You've done nothing to help with mankind. Go somewhere else with your opinion where it actually makes sense. Thank you.

What a time to be 14 years old & pulling inspiration from bands such as AA. This album changed my life. There’s something in the power of music that comes from a real place. When music can express what you have trouble putting into words. It makes you want to learn how you can change others lives through music as well. The level of musicianship of old scene bands is phenomenal. From the lyricism, the message & how it’s delivered, to the fact that these bands made a whole new sound to express their art. Asking Alexandria has always received the most shit from gatekeeping bitter people who lack the ability to see the pure genius in their debut album. Those guys were fucking kids in 2009. They became voices of hope and inspiration for so many fucked up kids just like me. The level of community within the scene group back then is something I miss. Definitely the most underrated & genuine movements in modern rock and roll history, the atmosphere reminded me of the communal vibe of 90’s Seattle. Fans felt included because they actually were included. Amazing bands who supported their fan base because they actually understood music is life-inspiring. It had the potential to save kids from leaving this place who were just like them. What I wouldn’t do to be at warped tour in 2013 again. Meeting these guys back then at shows was commonplace because they never thought they were too good for others.

Oi this band I won't say saved my life, cuz i'm no clichéd bitch (I hate when people always say ''omg this band saved my life'' NO making better decisions saved your fucking life) but i truly gotta say this band helped me push through a lot of bullshit I was going through. Thank you very much Asking Alexandria !!

La verdad asking alexandria marcó un antes y un después, pocos vimos crecer a esta banda y también ver cómo la mayoría de adolescentes escuchaba sus canciones, larga vida a lo que fue la gran banda asking alexandria, un placer.

Heard this when I was 18 - read on a forum about the album so went out and bought it - became an instant fan.
Turning 32 this year and I still play the album on a near daily basis. While it's not the most technically proficient album - I never cared about that because there are other bands that filled the void for me. Sometimes there are bands that are capable of great beauty with their simplicity and AA certainly was one of those bands with this release.
Thank you guys for the memories and I wish you continued success on your musical journey. A fan from 2009 and still am today.

ZLOYTracer Danny always had to sing the second part of the chorus on a lower melody live, even during the stand up and scream days.
      So does Dennis.
Neither have ever sang the chorus 100% note for note during a live performance.

    • @ZLOYTracer
      @ZLOYTracer 8 лет назад

Meh but Danny's screamo and vocals in first two albums sound much better in record, like true AA, but the present AA sounds more like BMTH, which i don't prefer.
