This video is a fantastic example of what makes you a true original in the world of slow fashion influencers. No one shops their closet like you do, and I’m always so pleasantly surprised by how stylish you look. So inspirational, for real. Love love 💕 💕

Skinny jeans have been addressed on so many RUclips channels lately. Because I believe so many of us fashion conscious ladies probably have them, they should be kept in our wardrobes if they suit one and are comfortable. Thank you for showing us how to reimagine them in a more updated way. The last outfit with the jean jacket and loose trousers is wonderful.

Personally I don't like this new fashion with loosy jeans, they're not flattering at all, they make you look clumsy .... in my opinion ....

Agreed. They work for me, especially inside boots, as we have a lot of wet weather on the Isle of Wight. Mud features quite regularly in my life! I don't want jeans dragging in it.

    • @katkat521

Sometimes a denim vest could give the same "look" as a denim jacket layered but without the bulk. Vests go a long way for us curvy women, and definitely size up with the outer layers.

    • @luluandmeow
      @luluandmeow Год назад +6

I am short too so all these oversize tops and wide pants, even slouchy straight jeans are a no-no. What really works for me are dark wash bootcut jeans, monochrome dressing (same colour top and bottom), especially darker colours, e.g. navy, a skinny scarf (a la Kate Moss) to draw the eye down, and I've also started wearing medium heels after years of flats. You can find comfy medium block heels and it helps to get an extra couple of inches in height. I've also bought very comfy gel heel inserts from Amazon, they come in different heights, the lowest is 1.5cm and they're so comfy and you can put them into any shoes. Also the 2.5cm.

I approached a trunk I haven’t opened for ages as it serves as seating in my study. And behold! All sorts of treasures from literally decades ago that I still love! So shopping in my own closet has become a fashion revelation for me, all because of you , Alyssa. Of course, this may indicate that I haven’t changed over the decades which means I am a stultified human being or my overt excuse which is that if Audrey Hepburn wouldn’t wear it , neither will I. I love all your videos, but this one was my recent favourite and a series of these at least once a season would be great. I don’t really keep up with trends so I appreciated this video apprising me of them and then showing how to style common pieces in a way that fits these trends. I have (and love) all the pieces shown in the video except the faux leather leggings so another video showing how to style these same items and other “outdated” items (ballet flats?) in new ways for Spring/Summer would be great. An additional item to consider for another winter video: long open cardigans (I have worn these with skinny jeans and booties in the past so seeing new ways to style them would be helpful).
I’m interested in attending a Shop Your Closet event but find it a bit intimidating - it would be helpful to see a video showing part of an event to see what it’s like.
A general note that I loved your travel content, and I also love your content focusing on cold weather (I’m in Calgary 🙂).

There's so much I love about this video. First, encouraging people to wear what we already own is SO important. I had to jump on the Taylor Swift Eras Tour Outfits reel trend, but I did so by shopping my closet for maternity-friendly concert outfits. (But all clothes I owned prior to my pregnancy!)
Second, reminding people that if we love a certain outdated item, or even an outdated style for an item, that it's okay to keep doing that. I can't fit into my skinny jeans anymore, but I was wearing them until I was 22 weeks pregnant. Oh, and I wore my faux leather leggings to the Taylor Swift concert at 24 weeks! While I've wanted knee-high boots for awhile, getting a quality pair hasn't been in my budget, so I've stuck with my quality booties. I've had my black leather heeled pair that come up a few inches above my ankles since 2013, and my brown leather flat pair that hit just above my ankles since 2015ish.
I'm going through your archive now to see what summer ideas you've put together. I live in Georgia, so even in winter, a lot of your ideas in this video were too warm. But the overall message is what matters most: be creative with what you own!

Layering my beloved denim coat that is so old and “artfully distressed“ rather than replace it?? I’m in! So Thankful... Take care!

You have the best videos because you always give alternatives if we don't have the exact thing you're talking about and you explain how to make it work. I find myself rewat h8ng your videos periodically for inspiration.

Even though I dont have a faux leather legging, i do have a collection of crazy printed leggings and just layer if with a tee shirt, long sweater and a short lacebup boot or sneaker. I throw on a bucket hat and some glasses before i go out the door and I look put together!

I love the black trousers with the black hoodie. You also gave me an idea to wear black long socks past my high boots to elongate the look. Love it! Merci.

I love your idea of wearing the denim jacket in winter with the long wool coat..Im going to try it! I've been wearing hoodies with my long wool coat and jeans. I love bringing that coat out of the closet for everyday styling!
I also have an outdated short black wool jacket I used to wear with dress pants that I wore shopping the other day with self cropped jeans and my higher shaft moto boots and a black and white checked wool scarf and the young checkout girl said I looked "chic"! who knew styling that jacket in a new way would elicit a compliment.😂
Thanks for the ideas for styling old clothes in fresh new ways, Alyssa!

I remember how excited you were about that white cardigan when you found it … I think it was in Portugal.
Always lovely to see you. Thank you for the video.

I can’t help but reminisce about the jacket you are wearing. I had a jacket very similar to yours that I wore in my teens in the 80’s! I even had a special comb to run through the fabric to keep it looking nice. 😋

It’s actually a blessing that the skinny jeans with booties is no longer trending because now we don’t need to fuss with properly cuffing them!

Thank you so much for this! So often, I have pieces in my wardrobe that I haven’t yet worn out, that are good quality and were expensive, and that I hate to just toss due to the whim of fashion. This is such a helpful video! I hope you do one of these every couple of years.

Layering is the key! It could be 40⁰ in the AM and then 70⁰ in the PM in the summer..
OMG I have slouchy wool pants and didnt know what to wear with them until now!
