Is pgi that bad? I bought a couple Conor Bedard mint 10s rookies off just a whim like an idiot going through a site for 60$ I get them in the next couple days and was considering just sending them back since I haven’t seen much anywhere on them
We've got to remember that grading is subjective. What might be a 10 in someone's eyes, could be a 9 in someone else's. If you bought the cards with the intent on cracking them and submitting them else where, I'd just recommend examining the card best you can through the slab. Surface may be tough to judge depending on the condition of the slab, but examining centering, corners, and edges can definitely be done better than through pictures on a computer or phone screen. Just look them over, and use your judgement! I appreciate you watching the video, and taking time to comment 👍
You did pretty well with your crossovers from SGC to PSA, I’ve had limited success crossing SGC 10s to PSA 10s; I think 2 have gotten 10s, 2 have gotten 9s. HGA I’ve had no success at all on..
Thanks! I find that this just highlights the subjectivity in grading. Although there are categories we can use as guides, when it comes to borderline 9/10s, it pretty much comes down to how the grader is feeling at that moment. I've actually had an SGC 9 crossover to a PSA 10. In any case, I appreciate you watching, and taking time to comment. Thanks!
The gem mint 10 Ja was probably GMA as well. I’ve been telling people for a while about GMA. If you don’t want to use them, then buy there cards and crack. I have multiple videos about this. PSA is no better than Beckett , GMA , SGC !! Don’t be a follower and be a leader :)
I've seen a few crossovers done by Nothing But Cardboard and others, and seems on modern cards they are pretty consistent. I've actually cracked open a few of the HGAs I was disappointed in, and sent them back to HGA as a thought experiment video. They've already been graded, just waiting on them to be slabbed. Thanks for watching and commenting!
So I assume you didn’t request a min grade? Because they’ll send you back your 10 if it’s gonna get a lower grade with them.. that way if it comes back in a psa slab you already know it did just as good if not better
I didn't do a traditional crossover, I actually cracked the cards out and then submitted them lol it might have been better to play it on the safe side, and just do the traditional crossover with the min grades. But, I've seen and heard of too many experiences where people submit their slabs and they don't crossover. I didn't want to pay money for PSA to essentially just look at my cards if they didn't cross. At least this way, I was able to carry out a thought experiment haha Thanks for watching!
Overall you did really well, keep in mind that those grading companies are basically worthless as far as resale value goes with the exception of SGC and even then PSA is typically double or more the value. Maybe consider trying again on the Jeter with the better centering but I'd say you definitely realized some serious value with those crossovers!
Absolutely agree with you on everything. I was looking for deals on the other grading companies, and considering that the majority of them translated to decent grades I'm happy they're in PSA slabs. The Hurts, Fields, and Bo really carried this submission for me! I did crack open the Jeters, and upon closer inspection, I can see how the 7 got that grade. There were some surface issues that were visible under certain lights. The 8 was solid though. Maybe it's "original gloss" isn't all there? In any case, will consider resubmitting them either via PSA or SGC just as a thought experiment. Heck, I might even just resubmit them to HGA and see how consistent their grading scale is! In any case, I appreciate you taking the time to watch this video, and commenting! Cheers 🍺
is your title clickbait? I fail to see the PSA inconsistent grading. Because two Jeters got lower grades they are inconsistent? Look to see if there is a lot of yellowing in the green background of the Topps Jeters...if so, that is the typical cause for lower grades.
I was trying to highlight the difference between the grading of the Jeters and the rest of the ultra modern batch. It's been quite some time since I made the video, and I've learned a lot about grading in that span. I figured that it must have had something to do with yellowing of the white borders. However, I felt pretty confident that one of them was in significantly better condition than the other in that regard. I guess you would have to see it in person to notice. If it makes a difference, the better conditioned Jeter was resubmitted and received a higher grade. Regardless, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 🙏
I hear you on that one. Do you remember if the slab was their older or new one? I want to give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their older slabs. The plastic they used was super malleable, you could legitimately bend the card while encapsulated. So, wouldn't surprise me if the card was damaged while in its slab. They switched over to a hard plastic similar to PSA and SGC with their new ones.
Jalen hurts concourse and hurts green velocity were offcentered on the front.
Ive seen cards centered great on front then way off on back....uhg....
Yeah! Especially with Prizm and Optic. Such a shame!
Are you cracking them or actually crossing them over
@@reagafranros these were cracked, and then submitted

That went great! Grades from most of those companies are meaningless. The cards are now accurately graded. Nice!
Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! I'm waiting on my next order to come in, so I can post another one
Accurately graded with PSA!?!? Lol that's hilarious. There the most inconsistent grading company.

HGA is good from what I have seen.

Would not resub that Jalen Hurts Select... its fairly obviously offcenter front. 9 is fair
Cant you just send over in slabs?
Yeah but that costs more. Just another money grab technique
Llove the Bo!!!
Hate dark edges cards!!!
I had to stop watching these new cards suck go older Jordan's
Ksa is bad. Bought an 85 opc lemieux in a ksa 8.5 and one of the corners was turned up. Horrible.
