my 986 boxter i can hear hissing noise when it over 40km after replaced water pump replacement. water pump needed to replace due to coolant leakage. my case is same with you? is there leakages from vacuum intake line??
engine is no problem. when they replace water pump, they also replaced coolant cap as well (not only cap... trunk area engine oil cap things . you know what i mean) 986 forum has similar case...

I don't see any relationship between the water pump and any vacuum lines. Is the engine running normally?
