The power of love or friendship is so strong in the new games. I don't need items in nuzlockes, all I need is the power of love. Seriously in my Moon nuzlocke the power of love saved me three turns in a row. I know some ppl think it's a dumb feature but it's been in the anime since s1 and the concept in the games since gen 1. The more Pokemon like you the harder they fight. Honestly one of my fav features in the newer games.
In my opinion, the reason we often forgive the faults of games that have bad mechanics, is because the experience we had with that game was worth dealing with those mechanics. And I firmly believe that the affection system gives one of the best experiences in pokemon. There is very little in this game that feels quite as amazing as being in a fight, down to one on one, you think you're going to lose it all, but your pokemon holds on because it loves you, and that turns the tide and lets you win. That feeling is FANTASTIC. Its a great experience, yanno?
@@MissOnana I agree, it's a vital part of the Pokemon world. Prior they always talk about how key the bond is but there was no real incentive or method to work on the friendship btw your Pokemon and yourself until that affection system. I understand why some ppl don't like it as they just want to go competitive or have a general dislike of nintendog style games. But, it doesn't force it down your throat if you don't want to do it so I think it's overall a win game mechanic.
@@finnsnow2495 Absolutely, yeah. I think some people also don't like it because it makes the game easier. But, imo, if you're going to Pokemon for difficulty, you're going to the wrong franchise.
@@MissOnana Exactly, I don't mind it because I don't and never have used healing or power up items in the game. In Pokemon y I only used the friendship to help me. I agree if you used all the things the game offers to make it easy it's be too much but the mega evolutions, o powers, drugs, and z moves are all optional. But only using a select few makes the game slightly more balanced (still easy but it is Pokemon). I'd much rather have my pokemon like me then shove a bunch of pills down their throat in mid battle lol
I love the affection mechanics for later gens, there is something so fucking hype about "Your pokemon toughed it out so you wouldn't be sad" or "??? dodged the move in time with your shout".

This is such a inspirational video. The breakthrough of the weak and pathetic-seeming Magikarp, also known as feesh, rises past everyone’s expectations and destroys the competition known as Pokemon: Sword and Shield, sweeping through seemingly more powerful enemies as feesh goes above and beyond, eventually reaching his final challenge, Leon.
